Festival of Computer Art
In the beginning of this whole Party was meant as a purely
PC-shnoe Compo. Later, our local amizhniki offered show all the
people Amiga 1200. Organizers of the party liked the idea and
They decided to put Amiga Compo-like machine. A total of eight
nominations: Demo, Intro, Tracker-Music, Midi-Music,
Hand-Drawing Graphix, Render Graphix, Ansi Graphix, Animation.
Yet at Compo were exhibited works only in the Intro,
Tracker-Music, Hand-Drawing Graphix,
Render Graphix and Animation. Festival
took place in Chelyabinsk Lyceum number 31.
Compo-machines had four Pentium'a and
an Amiga 1200 (accelerated).
So we go in the Lyceum, on the walls
hanging pieces of paper with the logo and EarthQuake
guiding arrows. We rise to the
second floor and see the standing security +
registration desk. Ticket (a.k.a.
vote-list) costs 10 rubles. O.K. pay
money, take the vote-list and enter the
fairly comfortable room in which way
say there is a cafe. Unfortunately, in
Cafe was not the most necessary things
such as beer and cigarettes. Could
gaz.vody only buy and eat pizza
or cake. Around the walls are all
compo-machine. Incidentally Amiga
support was carried out Mr.Key 'eat and

demos and intros. Sony Music Centre
shook the hall with powerful tracks.
Schedule of party was this:
1.Otkrytie and displaying the best works on the
Amiga, Pc.
2.Intro-compo.
3.Hand-Drawn Graphix-compo.
4.Render Graphix-compo.
5.Music-compo.
6.Animation.
7.Nagrazhdenie winners and the completion of party.
Finally, the party begins, all
seated in their places. Starts displaying the best works. With
the main emphasis was on the Amiga, spinning demos from
Black Lotus'a, etc. The whole hall was in
delighted. Then showed a couple of PC-shnyh
dem, which looked after the Amiga
rather poorly. Before the beginning intro
compo made Mr.Key and told little about the Amiga. After
numerous plaudits, begins long-awaited intro compo. Intro was
not much, just two. The first of these, it Rain by AKA inc.
And there was a small oblomchik -
music is completely absent, although the author
foaming at the mouth argued that music out there
Nevertheless it should be. After numerous misrepresent, until
replaced by certain drivers, music, and do not play ...
Well, without a muse, so without a muse. Intro
by the way it was written entirely in
ASM'e and looked, in principle, not bad.
The second intra was a little worse, but
with muse. The author intro - Andrew Lopatin,
not even guess work on the design. We can say that it was not
intro, and all-only a small 3d-Engin
figures. Intro-compo ended well
suddenly as it began ...
After a short break began
Hand-Drawin Graphix Compo, it is not
strange, but apparently mi-Schnick not
able to draw knobs ... Or editors
There is so ugly?? But the fact remains
the fact - just one picture was
represented by VooDoo / Warped Space -
amizhnik ... Bug on a screen is called
flower, quite commendable ...
In rendering the same acted alone
pisishniki. A total of 5 works: Simple
Things, Still Life and The Creative Power
by StarLight (the latter incidentally completely
devoted to the Amiga), The Hangover and Jaguar by
ASA Studios. Personally, I most
liked renderezhki The Creative
Power and Jaguar (spaceship).
With music compo fared slightly
richer - 11 works:
1. Future story-2 by AKA inc.
2. There'z no way by AKA inc.
3. The legend of avatar by AKA inc.
4. Let's move by Stn music
5. Mini by Stn music.
6. A lot off metall by Stn music.
7. Rain in space by Stn music.
8. Rich in paradise by Reflex and Dj.Zatey.
9. Krest Fallen by Dj.Ironman.
10.Light and Dark by Mr.Key / Ambient.
11.New Year is comming by Mr.Key / Ambient.
The most striking work - 5,9,10,11.
The rest were to say the least average. Of the bright work -
track number 5 rather popsovat, but not in principle
bad. Mouzon Ironman'a as always
height, and as always, do not pop, so
many of the music is not doponyali. Mr.Key
wrote a drop dead cool ambient
(Light and Dark), but as a result - it
realized only a few. New Year is comming
too, was rejected by poppy hearing. Well
what can I say about all this? .. Personally
I'm just sad for Key'a - he wrote
really amazing music, but not
for every listener.
On the animation-compo has been exposed
only one work by ASA studios. It
was previously've seen Jaguar, but in
movement and synchronization with the music.
That's all Compo were completed.
It was necessary to count the votes. By the way forgot
mention the sponsors - they were: computer club, and Target
Firm Cross. And now finally announced the list of winners:

All the same, pop music has gained
up and the first place given Stn music.
Also, my fears were confirmed and
Mr.Key not won a single prize
place. Well as they say, there is no court
no. What was my astonishment when
I took a sheet with scoring and
saw that the Mini and Krest Fallen
the same number of points! Remains
only guess why this is suddenly
organizers have allowed themselves to give
the first place - Mini ...
What about the prizes - it was CD, and cards free 10-hour
game in the club Target.
Well, now that was not pleasant. Firstly it is very bad
advertising festival (it was written in only one
printed newspaper, 'Weekend' and advertising on
network), because of this there were very few people and
parties, respectively, can be say that the festival was
classified as 'Underground'. It is also not very pleased
small vote-sheets.
By the end of the festival, I spoke with
organizer - Dj.Wolk! 'th, and suggested
him the next time to make and Spectrum
one of the Compo-machines, that Wolk!
agreed. Well Well, if you count that
the first pancake is always lumpy, you can
say that the festival was not quite
bad. Maybe next year we
show mi-Schnick level Spectrum
artists and coders.
