What to do...for ever????
ZXNet echo conference «real.speccy»
From Vlad Zinuk → To All 17 December 2001
Gentlemen of the jury! I will continue this topic, which cannot be called a decent word.
The topic is about copying long files from is-dos to tr-dos and
unescalating them.
In general, the problem remains. Let me give you an example. Here is a long file RC_2_1r.zip. I'm trying to copy it with the files that recently appeared in the echo to_trdos.com in tr-dos. Zero emotions - not copied. The reason is that the first file copied
to tr-dos has a length of less than 255 sectors, and the second, since
more, is not copied, the head in the floppy drive knocks without any result. So to_trdos.com , in this case does not understand that
the first file should be 255 sectors.
Let's move on. File spliter.com in is-dos we cut the unziped file into the correct one the length of the *.scl and *.0cl files and without
problems we copy them to tr-dos. Then we process the Extractor program and get a working RC2_1r.
But we also have the REPEAR.zip file, which we unzip in is-
dos and cut spliter.comom , then we copy it to tr-dos and
process it with Extractor. As a result, we get a non-working toy. And if this zip, which has a length of less than 255 sectors
is copied into tr-dos, then unziped with a crazy tr-dos
razzip tool and processed by Exractorom, then you will get a working version of the toy.
So the question arises: how long will this problem
kick you in the balls? Is it really possible that no one can write a “smart” program for the to_trdos copier?
P.S. For those who want to experiment, I inform you that you can download the above files at Dragon station.
P.P.S. I kindly ask you not to address me to Mr. Leontyev. He made is-dos, which is already many years old.
And the cart is still there.
And finally, one more question. Will there ever be a
piss zipper for the Spectrum?
With best wishes, Vlad Zinuk.

Well, you're a hedgehog. Can we read documents? I wrote that to_trdos.com this is
just a slightly corrected version of the standard
system copier. Therefore, it cannot cut files. It’s just that now it doesn’t spoil names when copying and doesn’t
buggy with the OVERWRITE mode (I amputated it).

Uh-huh.
For your task you need a copier to-trdos.com!! (I should have called it differently, otherwise people get confused). It is he who cuts the
file when copying.
If it doesn’t work, I can transfer it here or to the soap. Should we?

Exactly, exactly. Especially on tzx and partly on tap. tzx in 80% of
cases does not disclose at all.

why wasn’t the author informed about this?
otherwise they shout, you know, the program is glitchy... and don’t send samples... at all

there was no way, sorry. In general, take longer files with pieces of different
lengths and race ;). By the way, are your pieces of satellite files (except the last one)
less than 255 sectors long allowed?

so what’s the problem, in splitere? This cannot be the case - although it was written in one day, it was tested strictly. and the algorithm there is the simplest.
drive it back into isdos, glue it together with my stikerom and compare byte-by-byte
isdos after cutting and trdos after unpacking. at least you will know that
is buggy.

fuck off, I'm not fooled. :)
I had a session here out of nowhere. and I’m still working.
