What to do?
ZXNet echo conference «real.speccy»
From Vlad Zinuk → To All 26 November 2001
Greetings, All !
A situation has arisen. Dikim sent a .zip file into isdos,
containing RealCommander 2.1. After unzipping it
in IS-DOS, a file was formed with a length of 349 sectors and the extension .scl.
What programs can be used to process it and “unzip” it to obtain
a full-fledged subject in tr-DOS?
With best wishes, Vlad Zinuk.

I have the program ^^^^^^^, but without the + sign. She doesn't perceive the is-dos
disk. But the problem is that I can copy
from is-dos to tr-dos a file of no more than 255 sectors.
That’s the problem. Of course, I can cut the file into parts using the desktop program "saw /255" and copy it to tr-dos.
And when you start Extractora, it processes a piece of 255 sectors, but does not want the second remainder.
What should I do? ;(

KF> There is a scl file LONGER than 255 sectors. LIES IN iS-DOS. HOW TO COPY IT

So, it seems like there are separate universal copiers. Which themselves determine the disk format. You launch and copy from IS-Dos to TR-Dos, and then you can use an extractor. Although I haven’t worked with it, SCL_01 can easily cut cut files.
Best regards, Oleg. [ZX]
From Nikolaj Amosov → To All 28 November 2001
1. spliter.com cuts the file into pieces of a given length, further
to_trdos.com
2. to-trdos.com itself cuts into pieces when copied to tr-dos

From Vladimir Chernikov → To All 28 November 2001
1. Format the floppy disk for MS-DOS.
2. Copy the *.scl file from IS-DOS to the MS-DOS disk.
3. Switch from IS-DOS mode to TR-DOS mode.
4. Download the TR_MS utility.
5. Copy *.scl from the MS-DOS floppy disk to the TR-DOS floppy disk.
6. Using the SCL_conv or Extractor programs, convert
your *.scl file.
Another way is to write a letter to Sn. Petersburg Leontiev,
the current leader of IS-DOS, and ask him to modify IS-DOS so that it would be possible to copy files longer than 255 sectors
to a TR-DOS floppy disk, and send the utility. For N amount he will do it with pleasure. His address: 195256 St. Petersburg,

Write the chunks sequentially to disk and rename them
filename.scl
filename.1cl
filename.2cl
etc.
The extractor will chew through them.

Soap sent. But you don't really need an extractor from a soft drive,
and to support a hard drive you need to have its driver for a specific
machine. But nothing will help against wicked users - they store information
about the location of isdos disks on the screw in the isdos kernel, which
is loaded from nowhere. Theoretically, you can try to load this kernel
from the screw and find both the driver and the coordinates in it... But you can go further
and use the functions of the kernel itself to access disks. In general, under
iS-DOS
you actually need to write a program.
You also need to know the structure of the Scorpio file system...

It is not very clear what needs to be improved in isdos.. It is tyrdos that needs to be modified
so that it understands files longer than 255 sectors, but is-dos has nothing to do with it. All

Program for copying files from the IS-DOS format to the TR-DOS format
belongs to IS-DOS, was last edited by Leonty-
ev in 1999, but it could not and still does not know how to copy
long files (longer than 255 sectors) to the TR-DOS disk. That's what
she needs to be modified so that she can do this. The program MS_TR
can do this, because the author has good hands.
EP> Tyrdos needs to be modified so that it has files longer than 255 sectors
TR-DOS is a classic, it does not need modification. TR-DOS appeared
when there was no trace of IS-DOS.

I'm having troubles with Extractor 2.x:
it detects memory incorrectly on KAE - it sees Pentagon 256, but it should see
Scorpio/KAI.
Does not work with the electronic disk.
In version 1.x everything is OK.

You are digging from the wrong end... it’s easier to write under IS Dos software
