Hello, Ruslan!

I knew one really dangerous virus for the Spectrum. The idea was the following: when running BASIC from a disk, the virus located in it first read
the disk directory, found there a single-sector BASIC loader of <128 bytes in size
(it itself occupied 128 bytes), then read the body of this BASIC, and wrote itself there in the first 128 bytes. Those. found the place to access the code via RANDOMIZE USR,and
wrote itself at the beginning of this code. Then, in the program from which it was launched,
it lowered the counter by 1. Usually the counter had a value of 10. In fact, what
happened: when the infected program was launched, it infected another, and
the user did not notice anything. Then, on the 10th launch, it worked. There were two options: erase the first sector of the program (only the infected
program is lost) or erase the sector in the directory (16 files are lost). I
helped to ensure that this virus did not spread from the author-developer
- otherwise they would still be cleaning it up on the Spectrum. But I saw it at work.

I’ll move it here, otherwise it’s not in the topic.
At one time I also wrote a virus. Of course, it wasn't exactly a virus, but it was definitely a malicious program! 8) It was even distributed via an electronic network.
8) The program did not do anything special, it simply displayed a picture on the screen
whereIt was reported that a small fur-bearing animal came to the disk, and before the picture was output, the program ruined 0.159-161 tracks of the disk, recording ROM there. The program was on the local SM BBS and was available for download to anyone.
However, it did not live for long. They apparently complained to Sysop, and upon learning that I had uploaded the program, they lowered my access level by 2 orders of magnitude. 8(

That’s actually all. It’s stupid, of course, but it’s nice to remember. ;)

Sincerely, Oleg. [ZX][AirGun][CrowKiller]
