ZXNet echo conference «real.speccy»

From Andrey Isaev To All 21 November 1998

Greetings, Andrey

Once on 19 Nov 98 at 22:35:19 there was a conflict
Andrey Khoroshilov and All were arguing about unzipibm.$ [1/2]
I decided to continue this dialogue:

Couldn’t you find an older version? and its name, to put it mildly, is wrong!

Andrey was with you.

From Konstantin Samoylov To All 24 November 1998

Hello Andrey!

21 Oct 98 09:29, Andrey Isaev -> Andrey Khoroshilov:

AI> Couldn’t you find an older version? and it’s called, to put it mildly, not
AI> like that!
Is there really something newer?! I ordered it here on the ZX SERVER, and it arrived exactly the same (in length).
PS: Give me a newer one. :)
Sincerely, SP/PoS.

From Valerij Kozhevnikoff To All 25 November 1998

Hello, Andrey!

21 Nov 98 at 09:30:28, Andrey Isaev => Andrey Khoroshilov:

AI> Couldn’t you find an older version? and it’s called, to put it mildly,
AI> wrongly!

Listen, you once threw a new version of the subject here along with the sources. And then
he threw another one, with some fixed glitch.
Question: is this glitch present in the sources?
And if so, where?

ps\ I found a glitch: when expanding .trd with two flops (in my case from B
/source/ to C /destination/), the subject requests the source and destination disks, and
wait for a button press.
A there are TWO flops! I sit there like a fool and press enter.
Then I plugged the enter with a match and went to drink tea.

WBR, Jason.

Why don’t people read zx.spectrum these days? I recently threw 0.4 there, but soon
it will be 0.5 anyway. in 0.4 there was another huge glitch.

Andrey was with you.

From Oleg Pritula To All 26 November 1998

It seems like I was already throwing V0.3 into the echo with the sources on xas.

OP> By the way, how long did you wait for a response after sending a request to
OP> Zx_Server? I asked here a week ago... so far there is silence... :-/
I sent 3 times and only received an answer 3 times. :( Well, basically 4 days maximum.

AI> Why don’t people read zx.spectrum these days?
I read, but rarely, it takes too much time.:( Not once.

AI> I recently uploaded 0.4 there but
AI> soon it will be 0.5 anyway, because in 0.4 another huge one was added
AI> glitch.
Recently, yesterday, I caught the subject. How can I find out what version it is without launching it?

With respect, SP/PoS.

KS>> PS: Throw something newer. :)
AI> Why don’t people read zx.spectrum these days? I recently uploaded
AI> 0.4 there but soon

Strange, I think only version 0.3 of zx.spectrum flew with the source code and
a farewell note, or did I miss something?

AI> will still be 0.5 because in 0.4 there was another huge
AI> glitch.

Maybe this is not the global one you are talking about, but a file in anzip
as far as I understand is selected by its number in the directory, and not by name, due to
this, when deleting a file from the disk without compacting it, leads to the
impossibility of unzipping the file selected from the anzip.
Offset occurs when it selecting the number of deleted files.
I'm talking about version 0.3, this was probably fixed already in 0.4, I haven't seen it.
Can it be in echo 0.4?

KS> Recently, yesterday, I caught the subject. How can you find out what version it is without launching it?
But there is no way, there is just one sign: if the subject says simply isunzjr then it is
0.3, and if the word 'glitched' is added then it is 0.4, 0.5 I haven't thrown yet although
it is ready.

Andrey was with you.

Of course I missed it, there was also 0.4, _HERE'S_FAREWELL_NOTE_PLEASE_CONSIDER_NOT
REAL!_

AI>> will still be 0.5 because in 0.4 there was another huge

OP> Maybe this is not the global one you are talking about, but the file in anzip
Definitely not the same.

in connection
something like this.
OP> with
OP> this, when deleting any file from the disk without compacting it, leads to

Actually, I know this, but this is only relevant when the first files on the
disk are deleted.

OP> There is an offset when selecting it by the number of deleted files.
OP> I'm talking about version 0.3, probably this was fixed already in 0.4, I haven't seen it.
No, not fixed.

OP> Or maybe in the echo 0.4?
Yes, he was there, so when they throw into the echo what I asked for here earlier, there will be
version 0.5 :)

Andrey was with you.

From Andrey Khoroshilov To All 29 November 1998

Greetings, Andrey

There was nothing to do, and 21 Nov 98 at 09:29:48
Andrey Isaev wrote a letter to Andrey Khoroshilov
And I decided to answer.

AI> Couldn’t you find an older version? and, to put it mildly, it’s not called that way!

Well, I’m sorry about what it was like! If you have a newer one, then throw it into the echo!

For this, let me bow out. Sincerely, Andrey.

From Denis Dmitriev To All 1 December 1998

Great, Valerij!

One day on 25 Nov 98 at 18:45:21 comrade Valerij Kozhevnikoff noticed comrade
Andrey Isaev about , where I intervened:

VK> ps\ I found a glitch: when deploying .trd with two flops (in my case from
B
VK> /source/ to C /destination/), the subject requests the source and destination drives,
and
VK> waits for a button to be pressed.

It always does this if the destination number is greater than the source. Now, if you
unpacked from C: to B:, then everything is OK.

2AI: well, damn it! what the hell is this? ;)

With the best, Denis Dmitriev.

... I’ll buy a moonshine still. intermediary phone number 02.

AI>> saying the wrong thing!
VK> Listen, you once threw a new version of the subject here along with the sources. And then
Well, let's say not here, but in ZX.SPECTRUM :)
VK> he threw another one, with some fixed glitch.
VK> Question: is this glitch present in the sorts?
VK> And if so, where?
Yes, it is there and not only him, but two more. It will take a long time to tell where exactly.
You better tell me what you are going to do with them? I threw them in the hope that I would join the army, but it didn’t work out and now I ask everyone to erase these rubbish ;)

From Valerij Kozhevnikoff To All 4 December 1998

AI> You better tell me what you are going to do with them? I threw them

1. Unpacking a group of archives.
Let's say there are 100 archives of 10 sectors each on a disk - to unpack them
you must not leave the computer and press enter 100 times.
This is what you need to do: mark 100 archives with a space and press enter. Unzip all 100 of them at once and unpack them. This is very necessary. It's easy to do, I know that for sure.

2. Support for long files (larger than the disk).
If, when unzipping, the file goes beyond the disk, then you need to write “Disk
full! Insert another disk”, and continue unpacking further.
Type:

filename.ext
filename.0
...
filename.6

filename.7 - these are already on another disk.
filename.8

AI> in the hope that I would go into the army, but it didn’t work out and now
AI> I ask everyone to erase these rubbish ;)

Damn, I spent so much time dragging them into Alasm. :((

AI> We need to check, but I can say for sure that from B to A everything
AI> opens up perfectly.

you try from A to B ;)

From Denis Dmitriev To All 8 December 1998

VK> Here's what you need to do: mark 100 archives with a space and press enter. Unzip them all 100
VK> at once and unpack them. This is very necessary. It's easy to do, I know that for sure.
I did something similar for myself - at startup the directory is scanned, and all mail with a "mail" extension is automatically
unpacked :)

VK> 2. Support for long files (larger than a disk).
VK> If during unzipping the file goes beyond the disk, then you need to write
"Disk
VK> full! Insert another disk", and continue unpacking further.

How do you imagine the initial scanning of the zip? Also with “inserts”?
although it’s quite possible to live without it...
