I was once sitting with a guy (it was the first time I saw a disk drive)
and his disk drive was cracking terribly. I tell him - “can you, like, be quieter?” He said that it was possible and pulled out/stuck some kind of jumper. And, five years later, I realized that this could not be. What if maybe?
Bye, Evgeny!

Maybe, maybe. :) On the Bulgarian EC5323.01 for sure. There is a jumper
that configures the power step. engine. It has two positions (+no
jumper at all). If the jumper is removed altogether
(only +5V is supplied to the engine *during “stepping”*), then in terms of
noise reduction this is equivalent (even quieter) to turbocharging the VG93. No positioning errors
with this “upgrade”
were noticed.
Best regards, Felix.

Tell me, what kind of jumper is this? Where it is, it’s very interesting, just
no matter how long I pulled the jumpers on mine, I didn’t notice such things ;)
With best wishes, Dmitry.

maybe, maybe. I’ll say for sure about the Bulgarian EC 5323 flops. They have a connector
(X12) with three contacts for installing a jumper in two possible positions to
recharge the stepper motor - +12V, +5V, and when the jumper is removed, the stepper
remains without recharge. So, in the absence of support, the flopik works extremely quietly, reads normally, but alas, cannot write.
With best wishes, Artur. [ZX]

Most likely you have seen the EC5323 disk drive - manufactured by IZOT. You can
pull out the jumper from it, which is responsible for supplying 12V to the stepper motor, if you
pull it out, then the head moves quieter, but it often starts to fall short of the desired
track ; (and if you format the disk in this way, then there is no guarantee that
it will then be readable normally both on your drive and on
others ;)) So the only and a positive conclusion is to tube the VG
and lubricate the runners ;))
Sincerely, Musa Khaybullin.

Maybe, maybe. Don't doubt it. The flop was clearly Bulgarian 5323. It has a jumper
switching the power supply of the stepper motor: “always 12V” - “12V at the moment of a step, 5V at
rest”. If you completely remove it, then only 5V will always be supplied - the head
drives
almost completely silently.
However, I would not recommend using the flop this way. Moving then does not happen clearly, glitches are possible.
All the best.
Sincerely Roman.

Everything imho depends on disk drive, everything may be fine on one, but
the other will not work. ;(

It’s better not to pull, just lubricate the runners and turbocharge the VG - this
will be quite enough ;)

Only for lucky recipients of EC5323.01
DS> Where it is located, very
X12. There are about 8-9 legs of MS 155LP9 [DIP-14] (about the 1st leg
MS SM650R-06 [DIP-28]).
2-3: default position, per step. the motor is always supplied
voltage +5V and only during “stepping” +12V.
1-2: per step. engine *always* +12V supplied. not recommended, because the
engine housing gets very hot and the load on the power supply increases.
the jumper is removed: +5V is supplied to the engine only during
“walking”.

You’re wrong about grease... ;) it’s a lubricant. But I’ve never seen sunflower oil sold as a lubricant :)))
zy. I wasn't joking, I lubricated it myself, everything moved as it should...
zzy. Vasiline is also recommended... It works quite well. ;)

The best lubricant for OKB 172-7 disk drives, if you can find it.
