B 5026 echo for their local reasons is not running now,
DISMASTER is nowhere to be seen for a long time, and it seems that no one else answered you then...
You better repeat your questions from that time.
All the best.
Roman.

It's been that long since ;)
In two days it will appear...

And I want to ask this question - when will the BIOS be
available for use and what will have to be sacrificed to install
on a Scorpio?

Well, depending on how you look at it. Everyone here has already been waiting for the new Melon.
AB> In two days he will appear...
We are waiting.
How are you? Will there be a ZX-Power 3?
All the best.
Roman.

OK! Today (I had no echo again for 3 days).
With respect, Roman aka Megus of Brainwave Tracks.

Oh, comments about NeOS are coming again!
RM> How are you? Will there be a ZX-Power 3?
Yes, indeed, otherwise I’m still making fun of the line in the FAQ Programs
about ZX-Power 3 ;-)
From Roman Petrov → To All 20 August 1998
At 00:53, Sunday August 16, 1998 there was such a thing that
Kirill Frolov scribbled a letter from Roman Petrov:
KF> And I want to ask the following question - when will the BIOS approximately
KF> be put into operation
The most approximate date is the fall of this year. By the way, about the percentage of readiness:
Screen Manager has been written a long time ago, most of the glitches have recently been fixed in it
(some things are left to the conscience of the authors of the BIOS programs, for example, the window scroller
does not digest windows 1 space high). Fully written and free of glitches
Memory Manager for 128 machines, for Scorp and other machines still needs to be written.
The only glitch that is there (and I wouldn’t call it a glitch):
when a page is locked, the current page does not change (it may remain on
it is the locked page). Guys, should I fix it or not? System Manager is also
written completely. NeOS v1.x is 2/3 written (version 1.0 differs from 1.1 by
the absence of some commands that a programmer may need),
all commands except disk ones are written. All that remains to be written for the BIOS is Disk Manager. The standard for disk operations drivers has long been established; yesterday a standard was established for the input/output parameters of the functions of such
drivers. Today/tomorrow I'll start writing a TR-DOS driver, another coder is writing an MS-DOS driver. If there is a person who will sharecomplete information on the IS-DOS 640k format (not 800K!), then this driver will be written. In general, as one of my friends said: Not even a year has passed ;-)
Well, who is going to estimate the percentage of readiness? ;-) I'll assume that 75-80%
KF> and what will need to be sacrificed to install
KF> on Scorpio?
What to sacrifice? On Scorpios you will definitely have to install additional
ROM. There are two possible ways to switch between the main ROM and the BIOS ROM:
hardware (using a toggle switch, the simplest method), and software (hang on the port).
With the first option, most likely the service monitor will fail in BIOS mode.
And if the second option will still be rejected ;-) if you don’t come up with some
cunning way. People, who can tell me what? I myself am interested in this -
I have Scorpio myself.

In progress, work for 2-3 weeks (now the information is already accurate, because
we have solved all the problems with the shell).

How did you get my article about the BIOS? Should I throw it again?
