HDD connection standards

ZXNet echo conference «real.speccy»

From Valerij Kozhevnikov (500:95/462. To All 2 April 1998

Hello All!

I was thinking about the subject.
So that it doesn’t work out like with memory: 60% have more than 128k, and
everyone has different schemes. As a result, the new standard did not work out, and those who remained in the minority are not supported in any way by the software and feel like outcasts. These are Atas256 and MikoBest256 and
ZXNext512 and God knows how many forgotten schemes.
Everyone rushed to invent their own interfaces, code their own software. Why? Enough standards have already been invented.

Profi
Scorpion
ZXNext (by Slot)
Kay
Sprinter

Isn’t that too much?
Everything has been around for a long time. Including software.

Profi
In CP/M there is a lot of software, but in TRDOS and ISDOS - complete zero?

Scorpion
The interface is autonomous, all drivers are in ROM, accessible through #3D13
and RST 8. You can also work through ports.
Works in TRDOS, ISDOS, CP/M.

Kay
Soft is only available in isdos. The port addresses are not located very conveniently and do not allow you to achieve maximum input/output speed.

Sprinter
The fastest for today. The sector is read with two
INIR commands. But it is complex and difficult to reproduce.

ZXNext (Slot)
TRDOS 5.04H was created specifically for this scheme, allowing you to work with disks D, E, F, G, H as virtual floppy disks.
The port addresses are located very conveniently, the word is read by two
INI commands. The fastest (after the sprint).
I have everything for it, including a full set of utilitiesand drivers for isdos. I've almost drawn the diagram itself, filled in a description
I can upload it.

Let's think: either we should create standards, or use
the existing ones and ready-made software for them.

Jason.

So. :(

VK> ZXNext (Slot)
Well, you advertised it so well that I wanted one for myself. :)

VK> I have everything for it,
Great!

Let’s quickly!

There is nothing to think about here. If there is some acceptable standard that people will like, we need to use it and take it as a basis for further development.
Let us know.

All the best.
With respect, Roman Milukov.

Give us the diagrams, and we will give you _think_ :) But seriously, I, for example,
have never seen a single diagram.

VK> + Origin: ZXNet-INTERNET Gate (2:5020/689.100)

And I want three origins, is it possible? :)

Did this happen at the gate? Correct me, pls.

Hasta la vista.

A I have a diagram for connecting the HDD to PROFI+ _but_ it's on paper.
TK> seriously, I, for example, have never seen a single diagram.

Sincerely, Andrey.
