Standards

ZXNet echo conference «real.speccy»

From Vlad Sotnikov To All 9 November 2005

Hello, All!

I’m finishing up a little commander. Accordingly, some questions have arisen
about the standards:

1. Is it necessary to change disks through 1,2,3,4, dist - SS+1,2,3,4?
Now disks are changed through EDIT (two-panel commander). To what extent is the digital version a standard?

2. The disk path on the hard drive (drive, subsection, disk) and the name of the disk
with free sectors are displayed. What to put at the top of the directory, and what at the bottom?

3. How important are the following in Commander: playing music, searching for files on the hard drive?

4. What are the modern color preferences for software?

* Originally in REAL.SPECCY
* Also sent to ZX.SPECTRUM

QC, PC, ACE, ANSI use the digital version. It is more convenient.

path at the top, free sectors at the bottom.

very often you need to play PT2/3 on Bulba, and search - you will be the first
if you implement it :) what if there is a vBv collection on the drive?

VS> 4. What are the modern color preferences for software?
black background, different colors for different file types. The colors in QC, PC and ACE are the same. Take them.

Search has been implemented by me for a long time in the CAT_HDD program. About 7 years ago.
But for some reason no one ever knows about this program. I mean, search
in Cmdr. The idea is this: display the found files in the panel, with the ability to view and go to the drive where the file is located if you click on it with ENTER. Like in Dos Navigator. But a small problem arises: if there are more than 128 files? This is easy if you enter a mask like ******** ***. Limiting the buffer
to 128 files - as practice shows, this causes strong complaints
from users. So, I have always been dissatisfied with the limit of 425 (somewhere) mods in Hplayer and the limit of 700-something files in the panel in CD_Walk. We need to implement loading, but how?

Ideas: display 128 files with the ability to view, and make a key like
"Search further."

So, spread it. This is the first time I've heard about her.

You can dump the names of found files into a file.

You can do this.

Can I take a look at CAT_HDD?

(We promise the latest software for 48kb machines, although I don’t know yet when
I’ll get to that person from Kaluga...)

Description inside.

DB> writes “WINCHESTER NOT DETECTED” - only SMUC?

Well, yes! Since it was not detected :) What did you run it on?

P.S. By the way, my little commander, which I am finishing, is also only
smuc. This is bad? What other popular file systems are there on the hard drive?

Popular is a very loose concept. In our case, we need to talk about file systems that are often used by the Spectrum on a screw. And these
(except for SMUC) are the CP/M file systems (on the CP/M screw it works on Pro and
ATM2/2+) and iS-DOS/TASiS. Dima Bystrov also threatens to soon seize the screws of the pussycat FAT16. The terribly unusable demo version of DNA OS already has support for it, but so far, as written above, it is almost impossible to use this system, which is still under development. But we need to keep it in mind for the future.

Maksagor, NedoPC group. ATM-turbo 2+
