Space Server
ZXNet echo conference «real.speccy»
From Konstantin Samoylov → To All 13 April 1999
I'm trying to re-open the server of Spectrum programs passing through echoes
REAL.SPECCY, SPB.SPECCY, ZX.SSPECTRUM. I don’t know what will come of this,
so welcome to the subject. ;)
> Here are recommendations for placing orders on the server.
To order something you need to write it in a message addressed to the server.
_Requests are sent only by Netmail!!!_
My server name: Space Server. Address to which you should write: 2:5050/59
Orders are accepted only in the "subj" field.
Example of a request in the header:
================================================================
From: Vasya Pypkin *:*/*.*
To: Space Server 2:5050/59
Subj: texts.zip mod4win.crk
====================================================
For this request, two files will be sent: text.zip and mod4win.crk, if
of course there are any.
It is also possible to use aliases.
What is alias? This is, as it were, the nickname of the file, upon request the file itself is given to you. An example of a generally accepted alias is %Help, which gives you a short (or not so :-)) certificate about using the server. Another generally accepted alias is %LIST for which
you are sent a filelist - a list of files available on a given system.
Current aliases:
%HELP - help with work.
%LIST - list of available files on the server.
A file can be requested again only throughmonth, this also applies to
the %help and %list commands.
Requests from InterNet are not processed.
Here, perhaps, are all the recommendations for today.
With respect, SP/PoS.

And earlier there was such an unpleasant thing: requests from /529 (???)
are not processed... Is it still there? Or now for everyone?
What about capital/small letters? Or is this not important?
KS> Requests from InterNet are not processed.
This is bad. :(
Well, that's all...
Sincerely, Igor.

And you will write a request from /827. I don’t know what about passing UUE.

I don’t know, I don’t think it was like that.

It doesn’t seem to be fundamental.

It got there... (I ordered %list), but when I opened it - file length
error... :(

Similarly, the zip arrives, with the wrong length, and obviously doesn’t unzip... :(

The same thing, UUE arrived, unzipped, and the archive is dead :(
Best wishes, Artur. [ZX]

YV> It got there... (I ordered %list), but when decomposing - file
YV> length error... :(
I already understood this. ;(
So don’t write to the subject yet, as soon as I figure out the UUE encoding, then
I’ll let you know additionally.
Yours faithfully SP/PoS.

Write the name of the server correctly and everything will be fine. ;) Space is not at all
different from Space?
Yours faithfully SP/PoS.
