If the file is longer than 896k (RamDisk), then there’s no way...
We have a Spectrum bbs in our city, and there we take it in its normal form.
If the file didn’t arrive at once or is very long, I don’t even try to understand it, but
I take it right there.

What, you don’t have a single Spectrumist in the city with a PC (an acquaintance who is not indifferent
to the Spectrum) who can open the bbs with a section for Spectrum?

All the best, Alexander!

IMHO, there are only two options:

1. Use the subject in iS-DOS, written by Misha Kondratiev.
But in this case there is a lot of “manual work” in iS-EDIT to remove all intersectional, service information.
And it’s not a fact that after all these efforts everything will work out fine for you. I myself had such a case.

2. Try to “deceive” Lara’s decoupler by gradually feeding her a certain number of sections of one large yuk, so that later you can “glue” these
pieces together byte-by-byte (in the same iS-DOS, for example) and Lara will not fall back into the editor without finding all the sections (SS+J). You have to be smart, IMHO, with
the lines 'section 1 of 20 of file porno.jpg' (for example ;).
Ie. We have a hefty juyuk with 100 sections. Only 10 sections fit into Lara (for example). Edit the first ten (and then ten sections each) to replace
'section 1 of 100 of fileporno.jpg' to 'section n of 10 of file porno.jpg',
where n is a number from 1 to 10.
Lara, after explaining this, should, IMHO, swear at the absence of a CRC
or its incorrectness - forget it. ;)

I have not tested this matter in practice, but I think the main idea is clear. ;) Go for it,
you will report the results...

Sincerely, Felix.

But I don’t need a PC, on the PC it’s clear red, I just became uninterested, has
nobody solved this problem in real life without any screws/ramdisks? And regarding
the fact that such files were not found, then in zx.spectrum they sometimes throw tedious
trash files, which take up more than one hard drive!

Well, that’s all, Igor, for now.

AA> If the file is longer than 896k (RamDisk), then there is no way...

Why? After all, someone already suggested and I supported the proposal that the authors of Lara and
pkunzip should support multi-disk functionality! Or did someone else write some kind of utility for this purpose!

What file are you talking about anyway? Is it screwed up or not?

But that’s crazy! First, download this file with the mail, then again, only
separately! ;( It’s not clear that the modem downloads this whole thing, but it’s just that with the bbs on
which has all the Spectrum software passing through the echoes, I don’t have any
connection at all, so that’s how things are! ;(

AA> What, in your city there is not a single spektrumanist with a PC (a friend who is not

Yes! But I just became interested in the process itself, is it possible to do this,
that is, unzip a large file!

Everything, oddly enough, worked out! Only I spent who knows how much time correcting the section numbers, and it also turned out that I needed to correct the names too! ;( And then I spent even more time merging the file
byte-by-byte, because I don’t have the isdos, and I don’t know what else can do this,
I had to quickly write this gluing myself!

And Lara cursed that CRC is not faund... And for the last sections there was a CRC error... and
Bad length file... but everything worked out correctly!

Thank you for valuable advice, although it’s a little stressful, but it works, and
it’s also correct, and you don’t need any screws/isdos/ramdisks/pisyuks, as I
wanted!
I somehow didn’t think of this myself, although this is probably the simplest way out, although
as I already said, a little stressful ;(

2ALL: Maybe there is some kind of program on trdos that glues it together! byte-to-byte?
And maybe, after all, someone wrote/is/will write a breakdown of files that
take up more than one hard drive in their packed form?

I did this - you format the disk for MS-DOS, you transfer these files there with gluing enabled and then back to TR-DOS. Everything worked out. :)

Then you just have to write a program that does all this :)
For through is-dos - you have to pervert, and if you’re not even wild I used it,
then it’s no better than downloading the file from bbs again.

I forgot to make it worse. :) If in iS-DOS you do not have a screw or a RAM-DISK >=512KB, and
you only have flop(s), then working in iS-EDIT with large amounts of text
results in one big gag. And so... iS-DOS is the best currently _existing_ and _really_working_ system for Speck, with _real_

If you meant 'TRMSHOB', then I immediately thought of it when I needed to
glue files together, but it still glues sector by sector, I checked it several times!
When you map files, there is no such thing as the total length of all
designated files in bytes, there is a total length in trdos sectors and
msdos clusters, so transferred with gluing anyway sector by sector! ;(
Suppose on a trdos disk one file will be 341 bytes, and the second 125, when gluing and
transferring to msdos disk the file will turn out to be not 341+125, but 2*512+256! Don’t believe me
check, maybe it’s the old version of ‘TRMSHOB’ that I have, maybe the new one can still
glue byte by byte?

I do this: if I receive a packet in fragments (the connection between me and the node is not great and
the connection breaks several times) and sometimes the fragment is not a multiple of the sector (the node transmits a packet of 32, 64 or 128 bytes per frame) and this packet by itself does not unpack, I transfer all these pieces to ms-dos with gluing and back to tr-dos. And everything is in order!
I use "TRMSHOB2". This means it can glue byte by byte. I haven't
checked older versions.

What’s not clear here? Sectors of 10 kilobytes fit on HD, on DD 5*1, on
DD it turns out to be 800kb, on HD 1.6mb...

AG> Is it possible to jump in trdos? I don’t think it’s a leap, because... no dosa, am I right?

Right. Only in ISDOS there is a driver and the software always works with the drivers, and does not
judge itself with sector-by-sector reading as in TRDOS.

10 kilobyte sectors per track, 160 tracks in total.
If reduce the inter-sector intervals, then you can easily cram 11 sectors, then in general 1760 kb will fit on the disk.

AG> Is it possible in Trdos? I don’t think so, because there is no DOS, am I right?

1 megabyte of 4 kb tracks each. Tested on ramdisks. tracks. If the drive can go beyond the 80th cylinder (I saw up to
92), trdos can read/write them all.

Damn 'TRMSHOB2' doesn't merge byte by byte! ;( Specially checked! I took and
wrote three files 1 byte long onto the disk! Then I took 'TRMSHOB2' and copied
these files with a file to the MSDOS disk! A file with a length of 513
bytes appeared on the MSDOS disk! Therefore, the first two files were merged sector by sector, and the last
byte byte!
Although if it was byte by byte, then a file of length should have appeared 3 bytes! Such
things!!! ;( This only works if a large file was transferred from the MSDOS disk to the TRDOS disk, or downloaded from bbski, or from somewhere else and you need to transfer it to the MSDOS
disk! But in this case, only the last file may not be a multiple of the sector, that’s why the gluing was done, and if the previous files are not a multiple of the sector, then
then read the above!
What do you download your mail with? I generally have the smallest frame 256byte, so I don't
know how you manage! Probably, after all, you also have a frame multiple of 256!
Look again!!!

Well, yes, I checked - this is true.
But the fact is: if the package is downloaded in pieces, then it may refuse
to be unpacked. I ran it through "TRMSHOB2" - everything was specially
checked - indeed, some pieces of the package (not the last file, but in
the middle!) are not multiples of 256 in length. From this we can conclude that in some
cases the frame is less than 256 bytes.
Why is the packet after passingIt is unpacked via "TRMSHOB2" - I don't know.

I looked again (I download with NAM, I had the same problems with MELON - but more often) -

if the connection fails, then after recovery NAM starts downloading small
frames (32, 64, 128 bytes each), gradually increasing the size frame.
