about screw mounting diagrams
ZXNet echo conference «real.speccy»
From Valerij Kozhevnikov (500:95/462. → To All 6 June 1998
Hello All!
So I found an archive here with echoes from two weeks ago, which had once accidentally escaped my constant attention,
I began to read them, and found something like this there... :~-DDD
I almost went into hysterics with laughter.
=== Cut ===
One day Sat May 09 1998 13:32, Dmitry Pugachev wrote a letter to Serge Zonov:
DP> It would be better than to argue about what kind of large-volume screw
DP> should be installed on the SPEC, they would throw the connection diagram into the echo.
But this will be of no use to you, because our circuit works
only on Scorpi. If you have a Scorp, then BUY an SMUC controller, there in the book
^^^^^^^
it has a circuit diagram and detailed documentation on how to work and program it.
^^^^^^^^^
If you don’t have a Scorp, then either convert your computer to a Scorp (how to do this is described in detail in the same book), or wait for GMX, or wait for someone to come up with some kind of scheme. It just won't do any good. No "circuit" of an HDD controller, thrown into the echo, will work without software.
And to write the software - it took us three years. That's it then. And now there is no one to write that
^^^^^^^^
. There are fewer and fewer programmers who actually do something.
A year and a half ago, in an article in the ZX Review, I wrote that other controllersHDD
working in TR DOS, except ours, will not appear. This is how it happens. And if
nothing appeared during this time, then now certainly nothing will happen.
^^^^^^
PS. Judging by the origin you have Pentagon, so most likely NEVER
^^^^^^^
HDD will not be on it, just a “circuit” will not solve this problem.

Underlined places are the funniest...
...sometimes someone really wants to wishful thinking ;)
Yes, there really are few programmers (not stagers).
But there are more _knowledgeable_ programmers. Three years ago I was actually a teapot. Less is more. AND WE HAVE NETWORKS.
Oh!! Glory to you, Wise and Great Zonov Heroes! For three years you were exhausted from backbreaking labor, you gave foolish and weak spektrumists a miracle storage device, and there are no more gods in the world capable of such a feat!!! ;))))
(music plays)
Sla-a-all, sla-a-all f. Scorpio!
(decorated children in white bows, knee socks and flowers run out and begin to dance in a circle)
:))))
... well, that’s enough. =)
But seriously, the Peterses put the screw on the Sprinter in three
weeks, and it’s no wonder. The screw has been supported in CP/M for the second decade, and among familiar CP/M specialistsall kinds of sources
you can tear up a huge bucket.
And I also know a terrible secret: Pen512 is converted into Scorp
in 30 minutes of work with a soldering iron. You need to add port #1ffd and there are three bits in it - that's all! Memory banks 0 and 8 must be able to appear from address #0000, and the ROM bank with the shadow can be forced
to be included there as well. Stump has zxlprint 3 in this bank.
Everything about 256k is clear.
And about such a joke as “a circuit diagram and detailed documentation on how to work and program with
it” it is necessary to say separately.
The circuit diagram is Altera, CMOS and 8259 with a small body kit, but at least
thank you for that. In the old smukah, according to good tradition, all the micro-
rukhs were sanded.
Has anyone seen albums of ZXNext or Profi circuits? And what about descriptions for them? I saw it. They are huge and very detailed. And after a whole year of using SMUC, I only learned about its appearance (it’s green and with microcircuits), and ProfPZU has some kind of software for it. And this software, by the way, is glitchy.
The set of restarts for working with the screw is very meager. The “connect the image with an entry to the auto-configuration sector” is sorely lacking.
Port addresses are classified, everything else is too. Ugliness. Like “pay the money and use what they give, but what they give is none of your business.” What if instead of a cat they put a pig in a bag?
Or this perversion: at startup, the scorpion calculates the CRC according toROM, and if
it is not there as it should be, it freezes. A friend of mine tried
to change the inscription "Scorpion ZS256 1991-94", his computer did not work after
that. In the professional ROM, this check seems to have been removed.
And I will connect the modem according to the Kondratiev scheme, because Unfortunately
there is no software because of its secrecy.
It would be something to classify! You can think in f. Scorpio makes spaceships. The secrets are _children's_!!!
Every first hardware person in this echo will be able to understand how IT
works.
And Zonov is encrypted, otherwise they will steal it!!!
It’s 1998, SCSI2 and DVD2 are already in full use on the PC, neuro-
computers will appear soon, and here some are encrypting devices
analogues of which existed already 15 years ago!
Insanity!!! You might think that we are all so stupid that no one knows anything except them
It’s useless to hide a moonshine still - they’ll find it anyway!
If they don’t find it, they’ll come up with another one! And the moonshine will taste better!
And the prices for scorpion peripherals are already quite decent,
and even our Moscow trader very shamelessly increases the price,
almost 2 times, and is completely astronomical.
A bus expander (board with three connectors) in the company costs 62 rubles.
and in Moscow they charge 112 rubles. Like for the Pentagon's labor wage.
And in disassembled form => solder it yourself.
For 62 I would buy it with pleasure, but for 112 - for the garden, it's better to do it myself
It's necessary_CRUSH_ such scum - "representatives" of the company.
There is such an observation about a piece of the pie:
when the angular fraction of the piece is reduced by half, with a simultaneous
increase in the radius of the pie also by two times, the mass of the piece
_will increase_ one and a half times!
Let them reduce the prices, or kill the robber traders and the radius
of the scorpion pie will grow a lot times!
.to be continued
Jason.

This is just about the CMOS clock in confusion! :)))

I won’t say anything about traders from Scorpio (I haven’t seen a single one alive), but about
prices... If there are no competitors, then by raising the price you can work much less with
a slight decrease in profits.
PS. Did you receive my soap on June 6, 1998?
All the best.
With respect, Roman Milukov.

If this is about something that went through the Internet, it was gated normally. If sober -
got it ;)

Hello to you Valerij !!!
One day, on the date 06-06-98, exactly at 18:13:18 Valerij

The software is from Michel Kondratyev, now it seems he said
that he threw a set of suckers and spitters for both schemes to Igor
Gruzdev.

You are undoubtedly right, but still, in my opinion, everything can be bought from f. Scorpio by mail (maybe I'm wrong).
With best wishes, Dmitry.
