ZXNet echo conference «real.speccy»

From Vladimir Krasnoperov To All 22 November 1998

Hello All! How many years, how many winters!

Enlighten the teapot.
Which subzh can be screwed to the sinter?
Any EPSON standard? Or some special one?

PS: Let's revive the echo..;)

"More active, comrades, more active...."

With best wishes, Vladimir.

PPS: Does anyone even see me?

Hello Vladimir

VK> Enlighten the teapot.
VK> Which subzh can be screwed to the spec?
VK> Any EPSON standard? Or a special one?
Yes, it seems like any EPSON (or compatible with it). I have a
Russian MC6313 (a good, almost completely ESON compatible
printer).
What kind of interface will you make? Serial or
parallel? (I have a parallel one, it seems easier)

That’s the end of the letter, whoever read it was a great fellow :-)

From Andrey Khoroshilov To All 29 November 1998

In fact, there is a special one - 1 needle, and so, any one can be used.
The spec has port 251 - a ZX printer port, information is output through the 3rd
channel.

For this, let me bow out. Sincerely, Andrey.

...The mind is stronger than the chest. Hippies are people too.
...What were you going to see there? Glass fabric? And thought from electrons?

I don’t know. I have a Pentagon 128 with a built-in controller. I don’t know which one it is.

PS: Sorry for the late response. There was no time.

ZZY: I heard the moderator hit the jam day. So..I... here.." I congratulate you on your
birthday, I wish you happiness in your personal life - Pooh" ;))).

With best wishes, Vladimir.

Hello Vladimir

...Yes, I said there (in previous letters) that I have
Pentagon128kb++ .
It looks like I was mistaken :(, since on the diagram of my computer
it says: ZX SPECTRUM 128K+.
But everyone says that I have exactly ++ .
People in the know, Please tell us the signs of all the pentagons and how
they differ from each other.

Yes, like the ZX LPRINT III, a printer can be connected to it
in parallel and in series. But the serial interface
is quite difficult to support from a software point of view.
By the way, if you have it, read SPECTROFON N9 about connecting a
printer, and about which interface to choose (according to the scheme
ZX LPRINT III or on based on the KR580VV55).
Well, as I already said, I have a parallel one (ZX LPRINT III).

I am providing a short tutorial on connecting a Pentagon128+ computer to a printer using the parallel interface
ZX LPRINT III.
Attention! The arrangement of the parts is the same as in the Pentagon 128+ diagram
1. What signals are needed from the computer side? operation
of the ZX LPRINT III parallel interface on a computer
ZX Spectrum Pentagon128kb+ :

┌─────────┐
─┤ RG ├2─── CTS0 ┐
─┤ ├5─── CTS1 │
─┤ 555ir23 ├6─── CTS2 │
─┤ ├9─── CTS3 \ This is data!
─┤ ├12── CTS4 / They are very necessary!
─┤ ├15── CTS5 │ They are very important!
─┤ D55 ├16── CTS6 │ :)
─┤ ├19── CTS7 ┘
└─────────┘

┌─────┐
│ ├─
─┤ │ This signal printer
│ D66 ├2─── /CT_BUSY sends to the computer
└─────┘ (or simply BUSY) when it (the printer)
is busy.

┌────────┐
─┤ T │ A signal sent from
─┤ │ computer to the printer,
│ 555tm2 ├6─── /STROBE that the printer
─┤ │ is allowed to read
─┤ D67 │ data.
└────────┘

┌─────┐ Signal defining
│ ├1─── ENPR presence of the printer.
─┤ │ If the output is log-
│ D65 ├─ logical 0, then the printer
└─────┘ is present, if 1, then
is not present.

2. Signal connectioncomputer with printer signals:

┌───────────┐ ┌──────────────┬────────
│ Computer │ │ Printer │ pin number │
├───────────┤ CTS0 ├──────────────┤ Data bit 0 │ 2 │
│ CTS1 ├──────────────┤ Data bit 1 │ 3 │
│ CTS2 ├──────────────┤ Data bit 2 │ 4 │
│ CTS3 ├──────────────┤ Data bit 3 │ 5 │
│ CTS4 ├──────────────┤ Data bit 4 │ 6 │
│ CTS5 ├──────────────┤ Data bit 5 │ 7 │
│ CTS6 ├──────────────┤ Data bit 6 │ 8 │
│ CTS7 ├──────────────┤ Data bit 7 │ 9 │
│ /CT_BUSY ├──────────────┤ Busy │ 11 │
│ /STROBE ├──────────────┤ /Strobe │ 1 │
│ ENPR ├──────────────┤ GND │ 19-30 │
│ GND ├──────────────┤ GND │ 19-30 │
└───────────┘

It is better to connect the printer ground to the computer ground (as shown
in the diagram (point 2).

If you want, then connect the ENPR signal to the ground of the computer, then
your computer (regardless of whether a printer is connected to it
or not) will think that the printer is connected.

And then everything is simple: connect the signals from the computer
to the signalsfrom the printer side.

If you write anything.
