And I greet you, All!
We have an ibm <-> melon 1.79a connection. All modes work, except
the inability to transfer files from ibm to Spectrum. On IBM, the file seems to gradually
go away completely, as it should be, but after transferring the entire size
it stops and errors begin to pour in. On the Spectrum at this time
the reception window opens, the name and size of the file is displayed and that's it...:-(.
Other modes: chat, transfer from Spectrum to ibm work fine.
We tried different modes (correction and protocols), tweaked the settings of both the modem and
melon- :(.
Modem -2400 MNP2-5, v42bis + Pentagon.
Tried it on two different computers, and on one of them another modem works (also 2400, only from a different company) without any problems.
Can someone tell me what the problem is?
Best wishes! Vladimir Spashko

I had this with the Melon version 0.79a - this is the same
as 1.79a, but there it is necessary to enable control
DSR (&S1 in USR - turned it on and OK! :). In 1.79a and 1.80 this is not necessary, as Denis said. For compatibility with “left” modems.
Why do you have this...
Is hardware flow control enabled in the modem? IMHO you need to configure this modem.
All the best.
Regards Roman.

We turned the modem as soon as possible... And &S and \J and \Q and &K and all other
settings, set different protocols and compression. On the same Spectrum
a similar modem (2400 v.42) works without problems, and two identical modems, but
of a different design, do not want to accept files, although they do everything else without
problems. Moreover, if you transfer a text file to. mode without compression and interrupt
the transfer, the contents of the file fall out on the screen.
It seems that there are glitches somewhere in the modem-melon connection.
Who could describe in more detail the principles of communication between the melon and the modem when working with
z-modem and give a tip in which direction to look and what else can be twisted?

I installed and removed. Nothing has changed. I have Melon 1.79a.

And you, Roman, by any chance do not know the purpose of the modem registers with
addresses: #03F8...#03FF for COM 1 ?
See you. Yan Zagorskikh.

Enabled. But I have a normal connection even without it, that is,
instead of hardware, XON/XOFF flow control is turned on.
