From Andrij M. Stegnitskiy To All 26 June 1998

Hello guys! Can someone tell me how to make an acepeshka for your Spectrum? Well, I saw some kind of Kyiv program, but there it
was made on some kind of cunning microcircuit that the guys told me that in Lvov we don’t have one like that on the radio market. Advise
something.
If possible, then even to the point that we will agree to send
the microcircuit, and I would buy it.

With respect, Andrey.

As far as I understand - an analog-to-digital converter?

What kind of microcircuit is this? I saw the diagram on 1107PV1, but there is a lot of fittings and you need
-6V. Somehow I wanted to do it on 572PV4, but nothing happened - I don’t know at what moment to read the data (while reading there was always some kind of nonsense), and in the literature there is contradictory data :( I made a simple one on 155IR17 + 572PA1. I asked people
to give address of the port on which to hang the ADC so that there is at least some kind of standard -
nobody answered. In some Format or ZX-Power (I don’t remember exactly) there is a program for digitization, but it’s not clear what port it works with. So it looks like
ADCs on the Spectrum are not very favored :(

$$$ With best wishes... Alex

But in the ATM-TURBO-512+ some simple ADC was connected to 1113PV1, although there
you also need a negative voltage.

And where are you actually ADC?? Or did you somehow use PA1 “inside out”?

It’s all in IR17 - the sequential approach register (that’s what it’s called, I think). It has a single input to which 0 or 1 is supplied and a 12-bit
output. So, with each clock pulse, the number at the output changes (in
which direction I don’t remember). This number goes to PA1, and from the output of PA1 to the comparator CA3
(I also forgot the series:), the second input of which is supplied with the signal under study, and from the
output the signal goes to IR17. And when a signal appears at the “Ready” output of IR17, the data is written to the buffer register. This is how we convert A to D
:)
The speed is really low (clock 3.5 MHz), but you can see the shape of the complete video signal
:)

I greet you from the bottom of my heart, Renat!

Finally, I had the opportunity to run around the “G.S.v R.” demo. and
read the introductory words :) Thank you very much for those letters that
are written next to my name, I didn’t understand anything, but it’s still nice! :)
I liked the demo, if it weren’t for the profanity, there would have been a steering wheel!
I was especially struck by the wonderful music! :) And how did you manage to do it :)))
We noticed such a glitch - if in the bend of the sea-ocean :) you press the keys
directing the hero to a dead end, then you can see a flickering around :(
If it’s not difficult, add the definition of ATM extended memory - everything is
identical to the Pro, only the FDFD port.

Hasta la vista.
Tim Kelly

PS Why ZX.SPECTRUM is written there in capital letters, and REAL.SPECCY - in small letters? Some kind of discrediting :)

I have nothing to check, so global glitches are possible.

Hang it on AY and you don’t need any tricky port Just for the register
that 12-AY has.

used?

And the register is kind of tricky... Probably there is a dependence
on the output of the comparator and the data in the register.

after all :)

Well, in analog things “it works!” not an argument...
Although I'm not against it... :)
But imho if you use specialized microphones, the circuit will be
smaller. This was done in ATM-TURBO, there was 1113PV1.
And in TURBO-2+ there was already an ADC circuit with IR17. :)

All the best.

I wouldn't mind using special. mikruhu, but from the ones I have 572PV4 (there is no necessary information on operation and connection) and 1107PV1 (too many voltages are needed :) I can’t assemble a normal ADC, or rather for the first I can’t, and for the second I’m lazy :)

Who can still tell me which port is better to connect the ADC to?

Then you need to make a normal 8-bit port. You can use Kempston!
But... in a _MASDAY_COMPUTER_TYPE_SCORPIO_ it will be necessary to disable
/DRQ and /INTRQ from the VGshka from the port with tr-dos disabled.

There was some kind of program specifically for AY. But finding it is unrealistic
like any other for the ADC. I wrote one program - also for AY or
Kempston (4-bit ADC).

By the way! I looked here, in Online-27 they published an ADC circuit for 1113PV1 linked to AY! Why invent a new port?
And if there is an AY mouse, there should be either an external connector or a toggle switch imho...
