what if we standardize the connection to the Spectrum
of a hardware mp3 decoder chip and support it with software (drivers
or modules, for example, for Real Commander)?
then it would be possible not only to listen to audio CDs, but also discs with mp3!
Best regards, Vadim.

I could be wrong, but in ZX.SPECTRUM they frayed it. It seems that they came to the conclusion that such a joke is only for fans. It will be easier to buy an MP3 player (I don’t remember

The idea is not new. It seems there are connection diagrams for the Z80, but not for the Speccy. I'm not a hardware person, I can only say that I would tear it off with my hands.

They were grinding. But we came to other conclusions:

Well, not any, but let’s say, “fashionable”, bordering on uselessness, or something.
The joke of an mp3 player in The fact is that you can carry it with you. It runs on batteries. You won’t also carry the Spectrum with you, looking for a 220V outlet along the way;) Although, from the point of view of self-education in the field of circuit design and

In fact, they work even simpler - you push
bytes from an mp3 file to him at his request, and he plays the DAC himself, feeding it with the necessary signals.
All you need is to have time to push the bytes into it. The problem is aggravated by the fact that
the bytes must be pushed through a synchronous serial interface (2-3
wires).

Well, outputting a static picture and playing music should be enough, but using

There is a suggestion: after the ULA we connect a hardware mpeg 4 decoder (certainly this is the first time I’ve heard of it, if it’s not expensive), after the AY 8910/12 we connect a
hardware mp3 player, load “The Matrix” DivX and begin to admire... That what

Completely wrong opinion. Did you ask former Speckie users (namely users, not programmers) why they switched to PC? No? Am I? And
in 100% of cases I heard about the small technical capabilities of the machine. People want to watch movies, their photos, listen to MP3s, etc. In short, everything that the majority here is against. A striking example, recently another seasoned specktrumist
bought himself a pisyuk, because for his work he needed a text editor with
vector fonts, he needed the ability to quickly prepare diagrams, tables,
graphs and embed them in a text file. Personally, I will most likely now do all major projects on a pussy. Why? I need a table processor to create complex subordinate tables, I need the ability to insert these tables into a text file, and by linking it with the original source, I need the ability to create maps, plans of the scale I need and easily change them (I use fotoshop for this). And I also need format compatibility, so that I can exchange files with others without any problems and without loss.people (let's say tell the teacher). Maybe it's a Speckie? No! Why? Because a small group of people
decided that the development of speckie was not necessary, that it would “kill” it. And as a result, he
cannot satisfy my (rather simple) requests (let's say 486 is enough for this). Now I only propose to catch up, better

Nonsense. I don't need opportunities, but very specific solutions to very specific problems. It doesn't matter what kind of car it is, as long as it fits under the table. So, in the Spectrum, first of all,
there is no necessary software. Of course, this is due to the technical capabilities of the machine. But the conclusion that they say there are not enough

AT> What is it? Can you be more specific?
In fact, this is connected with connecting devices that have standard TV
scan to monitors that do not support it, that is, vga/svga, but the essence
is the same. Here is an excerpt from ru.amiga.faq:
Q. What are scandoubler, syncdoubler, flickerfixer and how do they differ?
A. Scandoubler doubles the TV lines, instead of one line with a TV frequency, it
plays two lines with a VGA frequency. As a result, TV modes without interlace
will be visible on a (S)VGA monitor very similar to DblPAL modes. Interlace
modes will still flicker. Such a device costs about $100.
Flickerfixer, unlike the scandabilizer, has a buffer for the entire frame, and this
allows you to make PAL modes a complete analogue of DblPAL. Interlace is completely
removed. Costs more than Scandable. It is one of the components of the A3000.
Syncdoubler - the simplest circuit with a cost of $1-2, the circuit is available
on Aminet. Allows you to see a distorted PAL image on the (S)VGA screen, and
is useful in some cases (for example, if you need to access the menu using
two mouse buttons). Almost unsuitable for games/demo.

This, IMHO, is like this everywhere, including here at the Polytechnic. And when I was studying as a technician, I did my abstracts, coursework and

there was nothing else at hand :) I typed the text in ACE, and then converted

to which you submit text from TLW as input, and it shows on the screen how it will

On 386 there is also a sea of new software, I’m really surprised by such an influx of it since
the new year :)

Will you pay?
I’m asking as a person related to hardware.
You won’t like the price first, for this price you can buy a living computer from those
who have one lying on the mezzanine, or even more than one.
To repair you need:
1) Free time. I usually don’t have it at work; there are much more useful activities there. At home after work I want to relax and finally do something else, otherwise I end up doing a second job at home. Therefore, this time is expensive.
2) Availability of parts. You have to go to stores and junkyards to get them, order the missing ones, look for analogues, and solder them out of obsolete trash. This also
takes time.
3) Having a pile of working trash (monitor, power supply, disk drives, all sorts of laces, etc.).
All this is for checking and catching glitches of the computer being repaired. Where should I keep all this?
Whether it’s true or not (it’s been sold out/thrown away a long time ago), then you need to get it somewhere
and check it or is it all just lying around somewhere (after all, it’s not every day
you repair a computer and it’s all on the table), then you need to get it all out, wipe off the dust, etc. To free up a workplace for this mountain of iron, which as all repairmen know
is not very easy :)

take a worker Ural.

Not once.... oh.. :) Well, you’re not “working” in the normal sense of the word

1. At the moment the Professional is undergoing repairs.

I was the one who made a mistake due to inattention, I thought that the document just took so long to open, and then there’s the whole system.
But you must agree, the capabilities of a loaded system in the first case are clearly greater and
more redundant...

Hm. My respect for spectroumists has greatly diminished after your words. Do you know, great guru, that speck and pc are not such different platforms? Look at
Apple and notice the difference. And about the dullness... at one time the Spec was chosen as the cheapest computer - a toy for children. The children have grown up, some have found other toys, and some still play with the old ones, but that’s their problem, it’s just that now children are given other toys, and they are not more expensive than the Spectrum, back in 1989.
P.S. By the way, it is almost impossible to buy spec now. And all the people currently working will die in five to ten years. ;)

KF> You are not the first to announce death here. How many of these have already been...
Yes, damn it, I’m not declaring anything, I myself have a living Pentagon, and
it’s constantly being improved.
You just have to face the truth, people leave and don’t come back.
At the moment I’m slowly installing expansion cards for our simple bus.
The adapter board is plugged into the processor socket on the main board, the processor
is plugged into the adapter itself. On the adapter there is a 34-pin connector
where a cable with pinned connectors from 5"25 drives, which
serve as slots, is connected. Cards are already plugged in there. Now I'm installing the card
ps/2mouse(AVR)+joy+CMOS+NemoHDD. It's still a hassle with the wiring, but it's quite possible to assemble it using LUT
well, maybe there will be several jumpers. The boards have quad AY+soundrive.
And don’t say that this is a soplestroy - no skein of mgtfa, it fits almost any Spectrum.
As for reliability - on my old Pentagon 1024 turbo, with a cable length of about half a meter, 4 cards worked quietly - mouse, ay+soundrive, ISAmodem,
programmator.
I can throw the adapter board for LUT into the echo (tif 600dpi + diagram in Layout3.0 =
64k in the archive).
Bye, Kirill!
