modems on Spectrum

ZXNet echo conference «real.speccy»

From Konstantin Denisov To All 27 October 2005

(not counting external ones on machines with RS-232):
- CDOS
- PRISM (proprietary)
- ViCOMM
- XTR
- Zaporozhye had its own network on its modems
incompatible with anything else. Can anyone say anything???

And also about PRISM - did Sinclair Research
ltd make it itself? or Timex/Amstrad? Or a third company commissioned by Sinclair?
What kind of protocol is there?
As far as I know, PRISM is not very common in exUSSR, due to the high cost (was it more expensive than the Spectrum itself?)

... we are so negative.

Vicomm and XTR are compatible according to the standard (only the execution was different). You can also add HAYES to the list in various schemes...

They were mentioned at the beginning. From the point of view of the machine, this is an RS-232
port... I'm talking about HAYES-incompatible in relation to the spectrum.
