MODEM & TR-DOS
ZXNet echo conference «real.speccy»
From Alexander Groholsky → To All 24 December 1999
I connected my modem according to Shepelev's scheme. Everything works fine, but there is some kind of glitch with TR-DOS. When the modem is not inserted into the connector, i.e. disabled, everything works
as it should, and when the modem is inserted into the connector, i.e. is turned on, up to track 40 everything
is readable and written normally, but after track 40 it starts to be written and read
five times slower, and *FUT* cannot format tracks from 40 onwards at all. I also discovered that this problem is not strictly from 40 to 80 tracks, but there is some
gap between 40 and 80 tracks, where everything is also normal. What could this be?
Well, that’s all, All, for now.

Does this modem have TR-DOS blocking?

I decided to add my opinion there too.

sorry about tactlessness/stupidity, but where did you find the BLOCK in the modem in
TrDos?????
Good luck to you, Kirill Frolov!

I/O port conflict. You took the /IORQ signal for the modem from somewhere in the wrong place.
Sincerely, Felix.

From the Beta-Disk scheme, IORQ used to return back...

you decide. I also have glitches, but only when the modem is inserted into the connector, but the power is not supplied

AG> Shota, I didn’t understand the question!!! :)
MEANS Either use a modem or tr-dos.

In fact, from the wrong place. I need a D85 (PENTAGON) from the 6th leg, but I took the processor from the 20th leg :)
This should have been bugged like that :) Now everything is OK!
Well, that’s all, Felix, for now.

He apparently said that tr-dos can take away the modem ports for itself for
working time, like how it takes #1F, #3F, #5F, #7F...
