MadRom v3.5
ZXNet echo conference «real.speccy»
From Alexander Kormishin → To All 16 May 1999
Hello, All!
The subject is ready.
The archive contains the following four files:
MADROM.B - Loads the firmware from the disk and launches it. Using
you can see what it is.
PROG_IT.C - Firmware already prepared for the ROM writing procedure
with default settings (see below)
MADROM.C - "Semi-finished product", the main part of the firmware.
Used when compiling a customized subject.
ROMINST.C - Source with drivers. All necessary operations
for setting up "MadRom" for a specific hardware
are performed here.
So, if the user is completely satisfied with the already configured subject, the existing code file "PROG_IT.C" can be flashed into the ROM
. If not, please, the subject
can be configured first, and then only flashed into ROM.
The above-mentioned “default settings” are:
- CMOS driver - the full Gluck standard.
- the file of “software switches” names contains
the required minimum of these names.
- unused main menu options “Ext-Q” and “Ext-A”.
- in the subroutine for the initial initialization of the subject there is nothing
superfluous.
- the delay taking into account the duration of the RESET signal is
minimal.
New in "MadRom".
- donenew text viewer inserted into commander. In
the commander hangs on the "I" key. The function of viewing
the screen file has been moved to the "W" key.
According to cl. SS+"I" you can view previously downloaded text.
Attention! If the text has not been loaded previously, or the buffer for
the text is clogged after operations of copying/compacting
files, normal operation of this option is not
guaranteed.
- the "Text viewer" and "XCOPY" options have been removed from the main menu, in
their place the user can install their own functions and so
flash the ROM.
/Insert your own password access, starters isolating screws, counting computer memory, etc. /
- it has been made possible to install a custom clock
driver and an initialization program, see the file "ROMINST.C" from
the archive.
- To increase the reliability of launching the service firmware, it has been
made possible to set the delay duration (stands before
the start of launching and unpacking the firmware), see the file "ROMINST.C"
- in the commander, something that has been delayed for
a year and a half has been done: RESTORE now works normally on
brake disk drives.
- many bugs have been killed, all three in the main menu and
CMOS SetUp firmware.
- various new oneslittle things.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Text viewer.
Made in a "Spartan" style. No decorative features on the screen, no
extra functions.
To avoid unnecessary troubles, it is possible to configure the viewer in
according to the characteristics of the user's hardware. Viewer settings are not restored after
reset. Some algorithms used in the viewer have been simplified due to
lack of free space. Because of this, for example, the "Search
next"
option sometimes works stupidly.
Control keys in the viewer:
"Q","A","O","P", cursor, sinclair - scrolling up/down line by line and
page by page.
"INV.VID.","TRUE VID." - page up/down.
"3" - (un)wrap.
"1","2" - scrolling right-left in mode with division of long
lines disabled.
"E" - enter the settings menu.
"S" - enter a line to search in the text.
"N" - search for the next entered line in the text.
"SPACE","ENTER" - exit viewer in commander.
SS,CS+"O" - go to the end of the text.
SS,CS+"P" - go to the beginning of the text.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Keys in the main firmware menu"MadRom"
"1","2","3","4" - setting the current disk device
"U" - starting Basic128 from address 0/#C9
"S" - starting TRDOS in the 128th (and higher) mode
"O" - starting TRDOS in the 48th mode
"I" - starting Basic48 in the 128th (and higher) mode.
"R" - Launch a previously loaded program (assembler) from bank #14/#51 #7FFD.
"H" - call the program in the cache at address 0/#3FFD
"T" - launch a previously loaded program (debugger) from bank #17/#57 #7FFD.
"ENTER" - launch the commander.
"A" - launch subroutine #1, defined by the user.
"Q" - launch of subroutine #2, defined by the user.
"0" - entry into CMOS SetUp of the service firmware.
SS+"0" - entry into CMOS SetUp with a destroyed synchronizer due to
CMOS update (this is necessary if for some reason the bit of this attribute
is always in the active state, and because of this CMOS SetUp just
freezes).
CS+"2" - creating/cleaning RamDisk for TRDOS 5.12f (5.13).
Most of the "hot keys" of the main menu are highlighted.
All options are available with the K-mouse.
Option keys in CMOS SetUp are also highlighted except:
SS+"K" - turn on(s) alarm clock.
"I" - editing the memory cardCMOS.
"SPACE" - exit from CMOS SetUp.
All CMOS SetUp options are accessible from the mouse.
----------------------------------------------------------------
Keys in the commander:
Everything is clear from the panels at the bottom of the screen. In addition to:
"1"..."4" - re-read the drive directory "A"..."D";
SS+"1"..."4" - install the destination disk.
"K" - marking files by mask;
SS+"R" - renaming files by mask;
SS+"J" - "gluing" groups of sequentially labeled files/ creating
monoblocks;
SS+"O"- switching the file launch mode - in 128K mode, or with fully
open extended memory;
SS+"P" - selection of copy buffer volume - 128K/all found extended
memory;
"W" - viewing a screen file;
"U" - launching a code file.
"I" - viewing a text file;
SS+"I" - viewing the contents of a text file buffer.
These commander options are not available from the mouse.
