ZXNet echo conference «real.speccy»

From Andy Harchenko To All 29 May 1998

Having sat down at the keyboard, I decided to draw a letter for you All.

Guys! Help plz! This is the left jamb with my spec - in general, I installed a new Pentagon board (the old one died). Well, I actually have 3 flops: two fives (Robotron and 5305) and three. So the problem is that Robotron stopped working! Doesn't want to read the disc beyond 1 track, you can look with
cat (CAT), and then just say disk error! I really thought the flop had given up, but I checked with Disa, everything works ok, 100%! I bring it home - the same thing, he doesn't read it. I already took it out of the case and changed the connectors and nothing.
It doesn’t work for others! Maybe someone knows what the problem is, tell me!
It used to work!

gave,

Does he move his head further than the first track?
Switches sides? (look at the drive diagram and the heads)

If not, somewhere in the new board there is a glitch with the corresponding signals.

If yes, then you should have written to RU.MAGIC.

Two options are possible:
- lack of power (after all, three flops...), but if it worked before, then it’s unlikely
- weak level of signals from the controller (perhaps on the old
Pentagon you had more powerful buffers). Check the presence of
resistor assemblies on the drives - all three drives should have only _one_(!) such assembly, the rest will overload the bus and
weaken the signals. I don’t remember whether it’s available in three-inch cards or not, but in any case, try removing the resistor assemblies from all the flops, if it works, then you’re lucky ;)))

Best regards, Denis.

This is Disabler/OHG :)

It definitely disappears, I have a spectrum in a minitower, it outputs a 20A power supply, you know
how the tracks burn! :)

Tnx! Ok, I'll try.

And if there is only one flop - it needed?
And if instead of it there is something like a microcircuit, can it be replaced?

?!! Did you put a smiley?..
It's important.

No.

From Denis Dmitriev To All 10 June 1998

And it looks like a tiny thing, it sticks out in the socket on 53 flops,
it is painted in some color - red, green, gray, etc.
It cannot burn by nature (except from 220V ;), but it may
not be of the right denomination. I don’t remember exactly, it seems
they usually install 330 Ohm and 470 Ohm assemblies...
but in general, I got carried away :)

With the best, Denis.

I hit you with my forehead, Dmitry!

Somehow, namely 07 June 98 Dmitry Zubarev wrote to Denis Dmitriev this:

DZ> And if there is only one flop, is it needed?
But what about!

DZ> And if instead of it there is something like a microcircuit, can it be replaced?
This is the same assembly, only in a different version.

Hy packaged, Dmitry, packaged!
