Competition "Your Game"
Go ahead, developers!
Now it is very fashionable to call some people this word, which is not understandable
to the Russian people. For those who also do not understand, let us explain. In the computer world, developers are popularly called
software developers.
Well, now it’s time to tell you about what we
tried to intrigue you with in the last issue.
So, the editors of the newspaper “Paragraph” and the Perspective Group as a whole
announce a competition for computer games on the ZX-Spectrum - “Your Game”.
The competition can be attended by both individual developers and and
creative teams. We do not place any restrictions on gender, age or native language. Therefore, everyone who feels the strength
and will to win can take part in this competition.
The acceptance of works will continue for almost a whole year and
will end on August 1, 2002. The games submitted for the competition will be distributed on a floppy disk(s) containing one of the "Paragraph" numbers, which
will contain a voting coupon. The cost of such a set
will be announced in advance through the newspaper closer to the end of the competition.
You, dear readers, will vote for the games!
The only restriction is that you cannot vote for your own works; on the contraryIn this case, such votes will not be taken into account.
In September-October of the same year, we will sum up the results of the competition and,
naturally, will publish all the results in the “Paragraph”.
The requirements for the games are as follows:
- before participating in the “Your Game” competition, the competing games must not
have been published previously, nor have they taken part in
any other competition;
- the game must not be protected from copying.
Games participating in the competition must be presented in two
versions:
- Demo version, i.e. version that briefly shows the charm and
essence of the game;
- Full version, i.e. a fully game version that has a
finished look, or a version that has at least one completely
passable level.
Demo versions of games are necessary in order to attract the attention of the network
Spectrum public to this event.
Well, now the most interesting part! Since there is a competition, there must be prizes. We are not without this either. As usual, the first three places are considered prize money. Contestants who take first, second
and third place will receive cash prizes (at the rate of 50, 35 and 15
percent of the total amount of the prize fund for their place
respectively) and certificates of participation. There will also be incentive
prizes and certificates.
Regardless of the place taken, each participant will receiveall the games participating in the competition and the number of the “Paragraph” with which they are distributed, plus to all this, the issue of the newspaper in which the results of the competition will be summed up.
At the moment, the prize fund of the competition is 1000
rubles ($35). We will try to increase this amount over the course of the year. But
to make this amount truly worthwhile, we need your
help. Therefore, readers who do not feel sorry for “their hard-earned money”
can send translations to our address, where they indicate: “For
the competition “Your Game”. The amount does not matter, everything will come in handy!
At your request, your names will be printed in each
issue, and we hope their number will grow.
Will there be games?
There will be! At least one game you will see. It will be released Our
team. Alex Xor has been working on it for the second year! We have also
received a verbal agreement from one more team in support
of this competition. And in general, we hope that the “Your Game” competition
will be supported by all creative teams and individual
developers who can produce good and high-quality
games. It is possible that some teams will simply time the release of their games to coincide with this. event.
What kind of game should we make?
Which game exactly, we ourselves don’t know yet, but just this
questionthe questionnaire distributed with this number is dedicated.
I would like you not to ignore it. We will publish the answers. And
in general, at least do “President” in BASIC (although no, already
there is one), but please do the second “Black Raven”.
