Is there a standard for a wheel in Kempston-mouse (meaning, if someone sculpted
a wheel, then how/at what addresses)?

You can put the lower 5 bits on the port with buttons.

What am I for all my Spectrum I’ve never seen “wheel” solutions in my life.
Where are you going to attach the wheel??? Inventing a new port??? And also software
support to rape an already loaded percentage???

Me too, oddly enough ;-)

Naturally. Two bits (A8 and A10) go to the decoder anyway, so what's the problem?
BS> And also force the already loaded percentage with software support???
What is it loaded with? By polling the keyboard when there is nothing to do (in a text editor,
for example)?

They also attached a wheel here, and more than one, so why is the speck worse? ;)

Firstly, will mouse auto-detection work correctly after this?
Secondly, I have a 5-button mouse.... :)
My option is $FEDF.

he's talking about the PS/2 mouse - a cool device :)

Have you seen the Kondratieff scheme? Oddly enough, everything works...

There are just no programs for 5 buttons.

I don’t know what to say... There are schemes where buttons are read both by #FADF and
#FEDF.

They tell you for the 3rd time - there are 5 free bits. Inventing ports is not a very
good idea.

And you RESET from the computer to reset the counter that counts these 5 bits. Let
#FF load it into itself. It’s better to get by with 4 bits and one counter.

Parallel with the Sinclair joystick! ;-)))

1. What will happen to the old programs and the new controller?

What should happen? Nothing.

What happens to programs holding a kempstom mouse, without a controller at all?

They are impossible to use. So?

What exactly is the glucodrome? Programs holding Kempstone Mouse climb on strictly defined ports. Even if the wheel is set to the highest 5 bits of the port with
buttons (if the mouse is three-button), nothing will happen, because
theoretically, only a glitch with autodetects that test the button port is possible,
but autodetects are now almost never used - in _all_ programs
you can manually enable/disable the mouse (or every time you load the program -
as in EDP/newspapers/magazines, or in SetUp).
And programs that do not maintain Kempstone Mouse compatibility will not increase
and will not decrease.

Eh... last century, however, they use counters, now they do it on microcontrollers
... :)
