Hello, Roman!

2All: The scheme is generally completely accessible for reasoned criticism. Criticize for your health. By the way, not so long ago they expressed bewilderment to me about the need to redo something in the drive.
Answer: redoing is not at all necessary. But in this case, some of the possibilities for improvement are lost. And it's not the program, but the user who has to carry out the routine
with these stupid stickers on the disks.

As for 1533 in the generator:
1533 is mentioned here only because of the rather significant size of the circuit, and
and therefore its energy consumption. If the computer being modified has a powerful power supply,
it is advisable to install the 531/155 series on all generators (Ft <= 16 MHz), it is more reliable.

RM> And for a 5.25" flop, the HD signal must be connected to pin 2
RM> of the connector (the first one on the edge!). And put the jumpers correctly!

So tell me what jumpers are. You're all there you know.

2All: subject news.

The normal commander for HD mentioned in the spring is about 80% ready
No glitches were noticed in the formatter, but there is something to improve and new things to introduce.
Here some ;) periodically pop up with demands to redo it.anything
exhaustible in HD. This possibility is still being considered.

Your Alexander.

Where is “there”? Only in Mitsumi D509V3.

Flop, top view:

┌────────────── rear ─────────
│
│ ┌─┬─┬─┬─┬─┬─┐
│ │ │x│ │ │ │ │
│ │x│ │x│x│ │x│
│ └─┴─┴─┴─┴─┴─┘
│ ^ ^ this is the choice of drive (A)
. ^ ^ these are for selecting the density (rotation speed) from the connector.
.
.
└──── muzzle ──

In short, you need to put jumpers “2S” and “HD”.
As I understand it, “HD” is not “HD density”, but “high
level density control”. You can also set “LD”, but the signal to the 2nd pin will have to
invert. "2S" is the 2nd speed.

:) Not “anything”, but sys_driv!
Working with the flop will be twice as fast, and there will be twice as much disk space.

All the best.
Sincerely, Roman.

There is no need to remake it, it sucks. Brake and glitch. We need to take another one. :)

Maximum 16 sectors.

I don’t understand, what are you talking about?
A 5.25" floppy disk holds 1.44M - on a track 9 seconds of 1024 bytes each.
On a 3.5" disk 1.76M fits - 11 seconds.
It turns out in both cases even faster than doubled!
And at 3.5" and the volume is more than doubled!

The driver reads from the table. Size - 16 bytes. High-quality disks can
have 18 or more sectors.

There's even a source code! Thank you! Let's see!

They can, but this is not necessary. Only if the sectors are 512 bytes. Well, let's not use such disks in IS-DOS. And disks with kilobyte sectors
recorded on a PC can be read perfectly on Spec!
