In fact, he does ATZ, at least that’s what he did for me. You can
check this yourself.
If you have &C1 in your active profile, then perhaps it
does AT&F for you.
IMHO, this happens due to the presence of a certain self-diagnosis system when dialing
numbers: if the modem “feels” that
it is dialing “something wrong” (control can be carried out through the modem
receiver), then it (the modem) is in good faith restarts, thereby
preserving the healthy sleep of innocent citizens. 8-)

Problem 1:1, just like I had. Modem LTI-9624HV-B (2400/MNP/V42BIS).
The culprit is the dial relay. The reason is “sticking” or burning of the reed switch contacts inside the relay. A simple check: give the modem
ATX3 and set it to auto-dial when the phone is _disabled_. lines. If
it never freezes, the reason is 100% in the relay.
How to treat:
1. Replace the relay: find a relay specifically for the modem or install a domestic analogue, for example, from the RES-55 or RES-64 series. If you have to install “our” relay (only a reed switch!), then you need to pay attention to two of its
characteristics: operating voltage (5V), winding resistance to DC >= 500 Ohms. The last parameter is very
important, because In most more or less modern modems, the key (transistor) for controlling the relay is located inside some healthy “cockroach”. If it burns out due to
too high load current, then you can be left without any pulse dialing at all...
2. Install an electronic analogue of the relay (the role of the switching element is performed by an optocoupler. There is a circuit for USR, but, IMHO, it can be suitable for any modem.).
3. Do it yourselfreed relay. ;-) If the hands are of the correct
configuration ;), then it is done in 1 hour. Works very
reliably.
4. You can try to disassemble the “original” relay and replace only the reed switch in it. But there are two possible problems here: the internal cavity
of the relay can be filled with epoxy feces (my case. The reed switch
could not be pulled out without destroying the coil) and the lack of a suitable reed switch in size (bulb diameter). Miniature reed switches
can be taken from keyboards made on them.
For myself, I used the 3rd option. If you need a “technology”
of production, then I can share...
Sincerely, Felix.

tell me, what kind of angel does it rattle like that, if it reed switch? IMHO, the contacts there
are simple + solenoid :-) why then change to Soviet reed relays? Are the reed switches quieter there? ;)
All the best.
Dmitry.

The relay there is a reed switch - hold up a magnet and make sure.
And the Soviet one rattles even louder. RES-55 is very loud. Type in a tone and don't
suffer.

You have? :) I don't know. :) Maybe you are mistaking “clicks” from the speaker built into the modem when dialing a number for increased relay noise? Set ATM0 (the speaker is always off) and check it like this.
For me, the very relay that eventually “crashed” was working quite noisily (this is not a guide to “action”! :). And on the old 2400/none
the relay was not
audible at all, you have to listen for a very long time.

They change, IMHO, only for two reasons - complete breakdown or unsatisfactory
work (subject).

no. do you read business? there regularly pops up the sentence “I’m changing
the loud-fucking relay to a gentle-soporific one.”
