ZED glitch

ZXNet echo conference «real.speccy»

From Dmitriy Timokhin To All 29 October 1998

A big hello to you , Viktor !

Somehow, 23 Oct 98, Viktor Kuzmin was chatting with Dmitriy Timokhin
about {ZED Glitch} :

VK> [...skip...]
DT>> Waiting, sir... ;) Will it fly to zxnet.soft?
VK> Already 3.0 is flying

Caught! Steering wheel !

VK> [...skip...]
DT>> It was Lara Croft 1.50. Really - not very much.

VK> 1.50 was released sooooooo long ago :-)

And it was sooooo glitchy :-)

OP>>> In particular, the lack of auto-creation eh (manually set them
OP>>> every time when
OP>>> a new one appears, if to put it mildly, not very convenient).

DT>> ??? I have new echoes in L.C. 1.80 are themselves created during tossing
DT>>.

VK> And in 3.0 they are not deleted...

??? And in earlier versions they removed ???
I didn’t have such problems =)

OP>>> Another big drawback, IMHO, is the _manual_
OP>>> editing of package extensions
OP>>> to *.E

DT>> If you hold some button, then packages with
DT>> extension "C" will be saved. For the life of me I don’t remember which button. ;)

VK> About *.E, I didn’t make it - these are already folk craftsmen :-(
VK> But in 3.0 you can install anything in the setup :-)

And in general, why the hell should *.E be done??? All normal people
- *.C .

VK> [...skip...]
DT>> Lara 1.80 - steering wheel !
VK> Glitch, she fatally bombed atcertain conditions...

??? Again - at what ??? I used this Lara - it worked great.

DT>> IMHO, Lara is better than Zed - much faster, more bug-free, more convenient
DT>> interface ;) ( -
DT>> who didn’t understand - interface :)))) .
DT>> Uue will be coming soon. And in general, it is much more convenient that
DT>> creates
DT>> its own database of messages - you can rub any message, then
DT>> compress the post file... I never dreamed of this with ZE.

DT>> And all the shortcomings you describe have long been eliminated...
DT>> In general, L.C. I think they threw 1.80 here. If it doesn’t come through, I can
DT>> throw it in with soap. ;)

VK> In 3.0 there is already a yuuker, though without hobet...

What for hobet? Over there they made an anhobeta with a uyyuker, and
it’s glitchy. =(((
In general - there are 2 dehobeters - under trdos and isdos, and
under trdos there is a full-fledged hobeta (it cares/dislikes
steeringly and for a sweet soul).

Good bye !
Here waz Dmitriy AKA Raven.

From Denis Cherepanov To All 1 November 1998

DT> Caught! Steering wheel!
But not that much of a steering wheel...
The glitch with not substituting SEEN-BY still occurs.
How long will it take to edit STS packages??? And the messages are saved glitchy.
Savish mesagu, you load it into ZX-WORD, but it has glitches.
In addition to the text, there are so many things in it, ZhV-[ ]
For some reason, Lara completely refuses to forward.
It would be nice if someone finished it.

I thought so too when I did it :-)

Getting crazy, KVA of E-mage. [2:451/17.33] [500:152/1.13] [k...@softhome.net]

From Alexander Kormishin To All 2 November 1998

Can't you post it in the echo, huh? Otherwise, we don’t have a steering hobta, only
one by X-Project (v1.9). It works correctly, but it downloads
one file at a time :( .

And in Lara, the debugger (and hobet) is very necessary!
You just zip and zip around, and you also need to run Hobeta.

Well, that’s it. Goodbye, Dmitriy.

From Roman Milukov To All 3 November 1998

When will Lara learn to look at a CMOS clock?!

Good luck.
Roman.

Hello, Oleg!

24 Oct 98 Oleg Pritula wrote hoping that Dmitriy Timokhin would read:

OP> But this is especially pleasing, because Zed's buggy UUE overlays practically don't
OP> work (at least for me).
OP> 2All: does everyone have a similar problem?

They work, but with a bunch of caveats. Like “don’t wear white, don’t wear tight clothes...”

OP> I hope the authors of Lara won’t allow this.

I hope too. But I see Lara does sections of 200-odd lines. In any
fidosh echo they will plus it!

To Viktor Kuzmin: We need to make sure that after selecting a file, requests will appear
Hobeta [Y/N]?, size sections [120]? - somehow so that you can enter a new
value for the number of lines in a section, if more than 120 are needed.

All the best.
Roman.

Actually, you need to have 3.1, save is fine there, only in Word you need to select the “fix” option in
commands, then codes #0a will be added at the beginning of each
line.

DC> For some reason, Lara completely refuses to forward.
DC> It would be nice if someone finished it.

Who said? I didn’t notice how this manifests itself...

From Kirill Frolov To All 5 November 1998

One day on 04-11-98 at 03:03:05 someone Dmitry Sharikov wrote to Denis Cherepanov
about the ZED glitch and I decided to intervene.

├┤i Dmitry & Denis !

[...]

DS> but in general it’s not clear what to do when the posts fill the entire disk?
Then
DS> everything goes to hell ;-(

Probably... It's no better in zed.

But you need to 1. movie the discs. 2. delete what you read. 3. read.

What's in zed?

KF> But you need to 1.movie the disks. 2.delete what you read.
KF> 3.read.

I don’t understand, more details, pls.

With best wishes, Dmitry.

VK>> In 3.0 there is already a yuuker, though without hobet's...

And I already have one ;-)))
But only at those that I have, i.e. they are getting stuck into SMUC
(we are starting to act according to the principle “for ourselves”)
;-)))

With best wishes, Dmitry.

From Andrey Khoroshilov To All 6 November 1998

RM> Oh! This is cool!
RM> Is it possible to install two or three at the same time? (It’s very necessary!)

It’s possible, it’s possible, but it’s only advisable to indicate in “setap.p” for which aria which
aka, otherwise you never know....

For this, let me bow out. Sincerely, Andrey Khoroshilov.

Come on!.. now let’s start producing left-handed versions!
The authors should do this.
We have AXLR here right away, even for v1.5 I entered the time on the 0th track. But
this, imho, is half measures...

All the best.
Roman.

I’ll explain - if you don’t delete the mail you read, then
the disk will run out. I could have guessed it myself.

No, don’t kill...

DC> Yes, I never edited them! It worked fine all the time!!!
DC> And 3.00 also processes long .pkt files. This is the steering wheel!!!

For as long as I can remember, we were always processing ...

From Dmitry Sharikov To All 8 November 1998

KF> I’ll explain - if you don’t delete the mail you read, then
KF> the disk will run out. I could have guessed it myself.

So the disk in Lara can also run out, you need to remove it in the same way, but there are an order of magnitude less brakes...

With best wishes, Dmitry.

From Dmitry Sharikov To All 8 November 1998

KF> You are not a good person. And if KVA takes you as an example???

Here’s a joke for you on this topic: - I took the example from KVA ;-)))
Because he once told me that he doesn’t have space,
so he doesn’t provide support for it. But I want a watch... ;-)))

With best wishes, Dmitry.

From Denis Cherepanov To All 8 November 1998

So, that’s the point, it doesn’t have to be the entire disk. I was dying of posts with 10 messages, and a weight of 400 kilos...

DS> --- Rat Lariska is 3.0 meters long ;-)
Damn, it’s crazy that I didn’t think of writing this myself :( But
this Lariska - Rat is a favorite character in cartoons
about Cheburashka... :)

I love you, kiss you... DAN.

VK> Catch 3.10, I threw it in ZX.SPECTRUM...
I believe that I threw it. We caught it a long time ago and are working on it. And then Lara 3.2 crawled in. So finally it’s buggy. He doesn't even know how to do .pkt. :( She asked me: make pkt, for about 15 minutes she crawled around on the disk, but
didn’t do anything good.

From Dmitry Sharikov To All 14 November 1998

DS>> ;-)))
AI> So tell me how can I get the SMUC clock???????

For example, through the TM functions, or you can directly, but I haven’t figured it out yet,
so I can only say about the function that works with the clock:

RST 8: DEFB #89
The operation code is set in the D register (in separate bits):
7 - (1) write time or date value, (0) read
6 - (1) read into buffer (only if bit 7=0)
5 - (1) direct read (6 bytes of data from CMOS),
(0) read in ASCII format
0 - (1) work with date, (0) work with time

The function returns data either to the buffer (as an ASCII string, or 6 bytes:
sec, min, hours, day, month, year), or in registers C - sec/day, B - min/month,
E - hours/year, L - day of the week. In the same registers, values are set for changing the time or date. The CY bit indicates an error (no m/cx CMOS)

PS. The most reliable thing is to use it directly, and not in ASCII, when I tried to read in ASCII, the data of the last entry into the TM was returned. In general, I always
use to work with time
D=#20, and with date D=#21.

With best wishes, Dmitry.
