And for the sake of BIOS, I will never give up Shadow and 128 BASIC.
And not only me. It's better to install an additional ROM - no problem.

Who’s stopping you from installing an additional ROM?
Or static RAM, so that during upgrades you don’t have to decide (though in this case you’ll have to load from the disk
every time).
The control can be hung on #EFF7. There, for this, bit 6 was provided
(locking ROM and enabling additional).

All the best.
With respect Roman.

No problem, but the SYSTEM needs to SITT IN IT and
NOT REPLACE 128 besik in any way - otherwise, when the system is running
the shadow will not work on the scorpion.

No matter what it replaces, the shadow will still not work, because he's stuffed into all the holes, IMHO. And if you replace something else (I don’t understand whether
this BIOS affects other parts, such as TR-DOS?), then only the toggle switch will help you.

And what, the shadow engine on Scorpia will not work without BASIC 128?!

Hello! Dear Kirill!

At 02:29, Monday July 06, 1998, it was such a thing that
Kirill Frolov scribbled a letter from Roman Petrov:

KF> Now you can bury your BIOS. It won’t work on Scorpio.
I won’t bury anything ;-) For reference: I myself have Scorpio. Now, in
correspondence with MOA, I’m finding out what needs to be done to make everything work.
KF> And for the sake of BIOS, I will never give up shadow and 128 BASIC.
Why do you need 128 BASIC? If it's not a secret? And the shadow worker will definitely remain.
KF> And not only me. It’s better to install an additional ROM - no problem.
Damn, I told you that one of the main ideas of the BIOS is minimal
hardware improvements.

Well, I wouldn’t say that it’s stuffed into all the holes. There are 3-4 main points.
Everything else remains practically unchanged.
VH> I understand does this BIOS affect other parts, like TR-DOS?), then you
No, it doesn’t touch anything else, only ROM 128 BASIC.

Then we must assume that NEOS will be like Pink Floyd or MicroWindows.

Who is stopping you from connecting the switching of the Neos bank to #eff7?
Wow! In short, I decided. Let it be instead of a bass, and I’ll put
2 bells. And #eff7 I will switch them.

2ALL: HELP ME!!! Tell me, on which bit should I hang ?

RM> What, the shadow engine on Scorpa doesn’t work without BASIC128?!

It’s stuck in all the holes. If it doesn’t exist, then the people with the screw
will break off. But I don’t care, I don’t have the taste :-) And you can install
ROMs from KAY, for example, on a scorpion without any problems. And the screw controller
probably too.

Practically is an elastic concept. ;)

RP> No, it doesn’t affect anything else, only ROM 128 BASIC.

And you want to say that the shadow guy doesn’t use BASIC-128?! I don't believe it. How are you going to get around this? IMHO there are two options: save pieces of 128 BASIC for use by a shadow worker or remake a shadow file. ;) And, therefore, if a new version of the shadow version comes out, will you have to redo the BIOS for it?

I'm already thinking about the fact that Scorpionists, it seems, will still
have to install a second ROM. IMHO, the monitor won't fit into all the holes, you can find a little space. For example, replace the menu with the BIOS one. Hmm, you don’t even have to
change it, just make the transition from ROM-128 to the additional one.
I hope that when you press the service button, the computer falls out into the right place
and does not remain in the additional ROM. It really depends on how you connect the ROM.
People, anyone have any ideas?

KF> 2ALL: HELP ME!!! Tell me, what bit should I hang it on?
And #eff7 is like the Pentagon port, and yours is like Scorp? It is interesting
that #eff7 has already been made a standard for all machines, if so, then I am
interested in the scheme of its implementation and the possibilities that it provides.

The scheme of its implementation is the scheme of the clock according to Gluck, which I threw here. ;)
Only instead of TM8 you can put IR23 to cover all the bits, if anyone needs it.
Bits:
0 - screen mode 256*192, attribute per byte.
1 - screen mode 512*192, b/w.
2 - blocking RAM over 128K (is it necessary? Everyone has a toggle switch. Even
me. Just not blocking, but switching #7FFD - #DFFD bits 0, 1.)
3 - turning on TURBO. (planned, no one has implemented it, it seems. imho too
no need, I get by with a button :)
4 - GIGASCREEN.
5 - enabling DOS (planned, so far, it seems, not implemented)
6 - blocking the ROM and connecting another, or static RAM.
7 - clock.
So: bits 0, 1, 4, 6, 7 are used firmly. The rest can be used for something very necessary. IMHO! But only after a serious discussion in the echo.

All the best.
Roman.

RP> Folks, who has any ideas?

Let the Scorpio people install port #EFF7.
There the sixth bit is specially reserved for replacing the ROM. The port is reset by
RESET.
Although you can simply use a toggle switch to substitute the usual Pentov or Kaev ROM with your BIOS... But this is unaesthetic. :)
