doom [0/2]
ZXNet echo conference «real.speccy»
From Mihail Zharov → To All 20 August 2001
With the permission of the BrainWave group, I’m throwing in the doom part from the Stellar demo.
- You can steer with the buttons:
O, P, Q, A, L, ENTER
- SPACE - FIRE ;-)
- without boundaries, naturally - you can walk
through walls and throughout the entire memory of the computer...
- multicolor is fixed for the Pentagon..!
Have fun connections, All...

MZ> With the permission of the BrainWave group, I’m throwing in the doom part from the Stellar demo.
Actually, the name of the demo is Stellar Contour ;)
And I compiled this part and attached it as a bonus to the demo especially for those
who read Sair00s^Placebo's articles about the fact that in Brainwave demos all
effects are precalculated (or worse, pre-loaded) animation.
Turn around the subj and make sure that this is not so.
I, as the main coder of the Brainwave group, declare: in all demos/intras/dentras from
Brainwave there are no Precalculated effects. Everything is calculated in real time (even
multicolor). Sair00s and I already argued at CC01 about whether effects using look-up tables (tunnels, bumps, other stretches) could be considered animation, although we never came to a consensus. However, I don’t
consider them to be animation.
I plan to release the source codes of the best effects, both included and not
included in the Tryptomine Dream and Stellar Contour demos in Scream magazine and maybe
Adventurer.

I don’t recommend pressing. Because you most likely won't get into BASIC, but you can get
TRDOS and accidentally screw up the floppy disk.

That's right, what for restrictions if the demo still has autopilot.
MZ> - multicolor is fixed for the Pentagon..!
Don't wait for the version for Scorpio. For those who especially want to remake the effect for scorpion, I will say that the size of ZASM's source codes for this effect alone is about
90 kilobytes. I'll get tired of redoing it. In addition, without reducing the distance
ray tracing under the scorpion, it is impossible to capture the effect!!! You don't have to ask me, because... After I tinkered with this effect for more than a month, the desire to look into the source code simply disappeared. There was inspiration, and I wrote this effect. Now I have no inspiration, so I won’t be able to repeat it :(
For those who don’t have a pentagon and the whole Stellar Contour demo is turning into
it’s not clear what, I’ll give a list of effects:
1. Wolf - a similar part in multicolor 64*32*8. Each frame counts as 3
ints. Ray tracing to walls and texture scaling are real-time.
2. Fractal Zoom in multicolor 60 * 32 * 8. 50 fps. During the entire operation, 760 frames are generated. A fake effect, although not animation. In fact, in this resolution it is not possible to _honestly_ calculate a fractal at a speed of 50 fps.
3. Tunnel resolution 64*32*8. Picture resolution - 256*128*16
4. Multicolor 3d object over 50 fps.scrolling background. Resolution - 60*32*8.
Compositional division and multiplication procedures from Spectrum Espert were used.
5. Hentai vectorized cube. The line procedure by Dark^X-Trade from
Spectrum Expert #1 was used. Speed - 12.5 FPS.
6. Two translucent multicolor tunnels - 16 fps.
7. 3D object + environment mapping with motion blur.
8. Translucent 3D over the image.
9. 2 textured 3d objects.
10. Multicolor cube, partially/fully immersed in liquid.
11. 3d object inside sphere + L,nhens flare effect.
Bye, All.
