How to configure a subject to work according to the Kondratiev scheme, but without NMI?
Kinte setup, plz.

So there is dosx for such a scheme... If necessary, I can throw it...

I threw dosx to you without_HMI'shny? So, you just turn off the hydra...
In the setup:
MAILER NO_HYDRA
Happy, Eudgine. It was nice to chat.

how can you tell if NMI is there or not?
for me it hangs 5-10 seconds after I start working... If you have time to
exit to the terminal (Ext/T) - it will hang there...

well, I have it done.

At startup it writes a line of the name of dosix, somewhere in it there is “mk” or
”mki” - this is with interruptions...
KC>> MAILER NO_HYDRA

It’s better to set up interruptions... :)

The interrupts are set up, but the USR Sportster 14400 does not issue them, this was
tested by setting the modem to 2400.

Sadly, all that remains is to change the modem... If you want to use it to its full potential.
From Andrey Isaev → To All 17 December 1998
You’d better tell me what to do so that these same interruptions don’t
hang up the computer, i.e. I have them separated, but all the terminals (mylers) that use them hang up (reset, glitch) when the modem tries to say anything: ((

From Denis Dmitriev → To All 18 December 1998
Really? Perhaps it has "one-time" interrupts.
Usually modems constantly generate interrupts at the port lock frequency,
but some modems issue only one interrupt forward.
Ie. if a byte has just been written to the modem, then the modem generates an interrupt,
and if it does not receive the next byte, then there will be no next interrupt.
For reading, the situation is almost the same - if the modem has a byte to give
to the computer, then it generates an interrupt, otherwise it does not.
KC> Sadly, the only thing left to do is change the modem... If you want to use it to its full potential
KC> strength.
Perhaps you just need to rewrite the procedures for working with the modem... Unless
the modem itself is not broken.

What kind of modem do you have?
PS. I have NMI separated, and the USR Sportster 14400 hangs up everything with them, and I brought a modem
for 2400 to check - it works !

But my situation is the opposite, my 2400 doesn’t work, but I brought it
to try usr33600 with it it’s practically not buggy. Food for thought: with
Connect 33600 in Melon, the maximum DSP was _2600_!!! but in the subject there are only 800!?
Why is that? both soapers do not use interrupts and both worked on Zmodem.
Can someone explain to me why these glitches with interruptions occur, as far as I
remember NMI is triggered by the decline of the pulse, and therefore the duration has nothing to do with it imho, so why???

I actually thought that all modems do this, at least all modems that I
came across one that did exactly that and IMHO all sprats do this.

That’s what I don’t know, I don’t know that... You should ask the hardware people, most likely
you screwed up something in the circuit... :)

What do you have, P'n'P only?
I have USR SP.14400, it also has P'n'P, and you can set COM and IRQ which need
to be set. It produces interruptions, which can be seen with an oscilloscope. But it hangs unpredictably.
It was possible to download a maximum of 100K, but mostly it hangs at the first keels. :(
But it works on the PC! Without any Windows, like a normal modem!
All the best.

Or maybe it’s done badly? How do you get interruptions from the modem to
the bus/processor? Or is firmware 48 BASIC with a glitch?

Very strange, in my Wild CPU the CPU was stable at 1200/1400. One way, with
hydra 600/700 respectively (both ways).

There shouldn’t be this interruption. :) "Interrupt when ready to transmit" is generated when the transmit shift register is empty. Therefore, this interruption should be allowed only in one case - when another byte is “stuffed” into the output
FIFO buffer. They must be disabled whenever the data has been exhausted - i.e. another interruption has arrived when it is ready to transmit,
and the FIFO buffer is already empty.

No, IMHO it's just P'n'P - since there are IRQ and COM jumpers...

For me it hangs stably in 2 out of 3 dialings... Then I installed
capacitors along the RESET circuit at the LH1 input before this signal to the modem
and it stopped freezing! Although this is strange - after all, RESET only happens
when you press the corresponding button and when you turn it on...

Bad galvanic isolation from the line, so the stool makes a pulse when you call, I had this on my old modem....
Happy, Eudgine. It was nice to talk to you.
From Roman Milukov → To All 2 January 1999
Interesting!
Maybe your electrolyte on RESET is just crap?
Although these are all half measures. I set it to COM3 and also almost stopped freezing. But
this is only “almost”. :(
It’s not correct that you have to “shamanize” connecting the modem...
IMHO you need to straighten the connection diagram. Can you really use INT?..
All the best.
Roman.
From Vova Bakum → To All 8 January 1999
What modem? Maybe when dialing a number it draws current from +5V
(pulse) and the mikruhi in the connection diagram are “buggy”. There are
some old Hayes with poor line isolation - they constantly hang
when dialing a number (and some even on the control center) - nothing
helps. Maybe due to other phone parameters. lines
(these are powered by a lower voltage) the modem has voltage surges
at the moment of dialing. You can treat it by hanging a resistance in series with the modem (preferably an adjustable one) within the range from 20-30 ohms (lower limit) to 400-600 ohms (upper limit) and select the value you need. It is advisable to connect resistance to the break of each wire.
Perhaps after this the modem will not only “normally” dial
the number, but also correctly detect BUSY (which many modems do not do due to
overloading of the input op-amps and ADCs with domestic lines).
I would like to emphasize that we were talking about HAYES modems.
In general, there are many reasons. I propose to discuss this in HARDWARE.ZX, otherwise the moderator will punish us. ;)
RM> Interesting!

It’s dried up. ;) It’s unlikely that he’s worthless.

We need to add address and data bus buffering to the circuit.
And INT, of course. ;)

RM>?..
It’s high time, I’ve already used it. ;)
So what? Let's go to HARDWARE.ZX?
