ZXNet echo conference «real.speccy»

From Dima Bystrov To All 29 January 2002

Hello All!

People! A big request!
Has everyone read the ZX-Guide?
As you know, the subject (Maxim Mitkin) has now moved somewhat away from the echotag
towards the Amiga. But we agreed with them today that if in the near future he receives more than 10 letters “Max, come back to the Specs” from different people, then he will return. The more letters, the better
:) Write to: 2:5029/35.18 Maxim Mit'kin
thank you!

This reminds me of Arno a lot! He also announced to everyone that Specky sucks, because he doesn’t help you get a job, and all serious people sit on
PCs. But: if nn number of people send him letters asking him to stay, then
he will stay.
A bunch of people wrote these letters to him. Where they said that he was a cool editor of
ZxNews, and without him the newspaper would die, etc., etc. Arno read all this, and then
stated that it was a pity, of course, that so many people needed him, but he still wouldn’t stay on
Specky, because Specky sucked, etc.
In short, he just wanted people to beg him to stay. It broke down, broke down, and left abruptly. It was very unpleasant to watch all this

DB>> what if more than 10 letters arrive on his soap in the near future

DB>> The more letters, the better :) Write to the address: 2:5029/35.18
DB>> Maxim Mit'kin thank you!

VS> This Arno reminds me very much!

Yeah, it reminded me of the same thing ;)

VS> He also announced to everyone that Specky sucks, because he is at work
VS> it doesn’t help to get settled, and all serious people are on PCs.

Somehow this didn’t really correlate with his own words
when we were interviewed at Sokol’s meeting ;-))))

VS> But: if nn number of people send him letters
VS> asking him to stay, then he will stay.
VS> A bunch of people wrote these letters to him.

Here is more detail - did a bunch of people actually write?

[skipped]

VS> Arno read all this, and then said that it’s a pity, of course,
VS> that such a large number of people need him, but on Speck
VS> he still won’t stay, because Specky sucks, etc.

And this is in more detail - where did he say this?

It’s just that all my links with him were cut off precisely after his announcement
about leaving, but with the expectation of letters.... :)

VS> In short, he just wanted people to ask him
VS> to stay. Hebroke down, broke down, and left abruptly.

Not cool at all. :)
He just loudly “slammed the door.”
Although for me the news that there were letters
and about _such_ reaction to them is news!
(In the sense that news is exactly a reaction)

VS> It was very unpleasant to watch all this.

Ugh.
Exactly the same as watching the creation of Arno super-duper-mega-portal ;)

Yes, I don’t even understand what it means to leave? Where to go?

Yes! 5 points! ;))
That’s it, don’t joke like that again - otherwise I almost choked;)

VS>> unpleasant to watch all this.

KF> Yes, I don’t even understand what it means to leave? Where should I go?

Leave the bad Speck for a super-duper useful PC and use
there a super-duper (supposedly) operating system Vyndovzzz ;)

Have you not read Newski?
Somewhere after the 30th issue (I don’t remember exactly) we did 2 numbers
without Arno (as a guide - in the first without Arnov there was a CMOS clock :).
So we immediately warned everyone that Arno had purchased the PC
and decided to give up on Speck.
After two issues, Newsky Arno decided come back, and wrote an article where he said, “Why did you believe what they wrote about me? But I’m not going anywhere.”

And Newsky’s next issue began with Arno saying
that this was Newsky’s last issue, that he was leaving.
And he began to explain to everyone why he was leaving.
He said about letters...

From Vlad Sotnikov To All 8 February 2002

AM> And this is in more detail - where did he say it?

In the echoes. And also - I don’t have time to check, but it seems like this: in one news
he published an article about how PC sucks, that it’s a color calculator, and the very next week, a week later, he argued that only with PC you can get a job.
I always cited this as an example of the variability of people’s opinions. Although maybe
there was no second article in the newspaper, but it was all in echoes.
If you try to recreate the reason for his behavior at that time, as I understand it,
he decided to get a job at some company near his house, and told there
that he was fluent in the Spectrum. And the people there laughed at him and
said that he needed PC skills to work. And he can
forget about the Spectrum. It seems that this was news to him :)
At least he constantly mentioned the company near his house. They didn't take him there, but they promised to take him if he studied PC. And he rushed to study it. And what else prompted him to have such a negative attitude towards Speck was the protracted conflict with
you. I remember how you sat at the Council at Sokol and stubbornly pretended not to notice each other. Then it was funny to watch, but now I understand
that this is the extreme stage of the conflict, and no reconciliation in such a case, as a rule, never happens.
And in this confrontation of yours, manytook your side. Because Arno was a good editor, and you were a coder, and an active one at that. And you provided more of a practical solution for Speck. So Arno just ran away :)

From Vlad Sotnikov To All 8 February 2002

KF> Yes, I don’t even understand what it means to leave? Where to go?

And he said that the speck sucked, and he would never return to it. I quarreled with everyone and left a very unpleasant impression of myself. So
he really shouldn’t return.

VS>> + Origin: it’s not as simple as it seems! (2:5030/885.34)

I can. After this letter, I’ll immediately get into the mood :)

I haven’t seen... :(

VS> And also - I don’t have time to check, but it seems like this: in

This is approximately what he said in the interview and after we
easily and spontaneously released two news stories in a row without his participation ;)

VS> PC can you work get settled.

Ugh. This was in his “farewell speech”.

VS> I always cited this as an example of the variability of people’s opinions.

Hy, IMHO, a complete instant reconsideration of one’s views is
a sign of something else ;)

VS> Although maybe there was no second article in the newspaper, but it was all in

It was, it was ;)
I could pick up a newski ;)

VS> :)

No... He already had a PC by that time.
I really don’t know how he managed to work at the PC, but that doesn’t matter.
Imho, what kept him on Speck was that heArno, so famous and
main in the network, etc. etc.
So he had experience working at a PC.

Although... Interesting information - I dug up Arno's home page in the internet. Well, he described his hobbies and so on there...
What’s interesting is not a word about Speck! Not about the fact that his first computer was Speck, not about the fact that he wrote music on it, not about the fact that he made a newspaper... :)
And the companies (judging by the information on the page) were connected with the Internet
(provider, etc.)
And in a conversation on ICQ he stated that he was a technical person director
of some provider office.
Which surprised and amused me very much :)

It was funny to read...

Hy.... What was more important at that time - coding or releasing
news is difficult to decide.
More likely, boththen (more precisely, one without the other would not have made sense).
As it seemed to me then (and not only then, and not only to me)
the basis of the confrontation was that Arno was too “eager for power”,
first of all in the grid.

And he did not take anything into account in this...
As I remember, from the echo (I remind you - then I distributed mail to everyone):
Me: mail has been accumulating for your points for a week now.
Arno: I’m still waiting for you to figure out why I’m not calling you
for mail, and when you..... (well, etc.)

VS> So Arno just ran away :)

After doing this a few times ugly ;)

(By the way - the original is in the topic! ;)

Well, people? Is it still too hard to write 6-7 letters? :(
And then there was zero reaction, in ZX.SPECTRUM TWO people reacted :(((

Well, write letters to ZX.SPECTRUM and not to me, but to the people ;))
I definitely won’t write letters to the subject, because
1) Arno’s example showed that this is nothing will lead
2) each person is the scribe of his own happiness,
in the sense that everyone decides for himself.

I wrote a letter to this subject after seeing your request in this echo. So I didn’t even
receive an answer.

Why delay the end,
Which never stood,
Since the subject goes to PC,
“Goodbye,” we’ll answer [person].

;)

Bye, Dima.
