Burst Eyes 1.3 [0/2]
ZXNet echo conference «real.speccy»
From Wladimir Bulchukey → To All 19 June 1998
Hello!
Evgeniy Vikentyev presents a new version (freeware) of a text viewer, which is _exclusively_ (!) convenient for
viewing echo and text downloads of Web pages on the real
Spectrum, as it automatically transfers long lines, and
also allows you to upload text in ZX-Word format with an
adjusted line length no more than 64 characters. At the same
time, the correction mode has been made switchable... Further, see the description:

BURST EYES v1.3 .
Differences from version 1.2:
+++ it has become possible to upload a text
file in the format of 64 characters per line.
+++ you can scroll through the text not only up and down,
left-right.
+++ ability to run BASIC files from
the file panel.
+++ ability to return to Commander.
+++ color file panel (a-la Dos Navigator).
+++ mask for ZX-WORD files.
+++ when searching for text, the found sequence
is displayed at the top of the screen.
--- when changing the disk the function was not called #18
TR-DOS. (well, I didn’t know - I have only one drive :)
--- when restarting TR-DOS, a zero
memory page is now set. I don’t know if it could have failed
before, but let it be just in case.
--- the correct number in the index of viewed
text.
--- search is called by the "F" key.
Description:
The main difference between this text file viewer and
most others is the ability to automatically wrap lines.
The viewer can view files up to 64kb and the text is viewed
without any delays when crossing 16kb segments.
The presence or absence of code #0A at the end of the line, as well as
code #0D at the end of the text. The viewer can search for a given
line in the text, which, when found, is highlighted at the top
of the screen. Repeated search also works.
Now about something new: in WRAP mode the left-right keys work
as PAGE UP and PAGE DOWN, and in UNWRAP mode the same keys
scroll the text horizontally. Now you can easily read
texts in 80-character format and, if necessary,
switch the mode to view a diagram or a pseudo-graphic
picture.
Uploading text: Let's say you need to transfer text from
something to Speccy and, for example, use it somewhere in
the future. To do this, it would be nice to convert it into a format acceptable in terms of line length. To do this, press EXTEND (that's how it is in viewers...) and enter the file name. The text will be
written into 16kb files; all left characters are discarded
(less than #20, butnot a tabulator and not a CR); at the end of each
line #0D, #0A; perhaps a Russian file name.
Note: loading occurs on the “AS VIEW” principle, that is,
the lines in the new file will be located depending on whether
autotransfer is enabled or not.
Launching BASIC files: Just “click on it Enter” and
answer “Yes”. :)
Return to commander is supported according to the standard introduced in
REAL COMMANDER. That is, the commander saves himself in the 7th bank,
you, if necessary, can transfer him to another bank, and then when you exit, just turn it on and make JP #C000. Marker for the presence of a
commander in memory - code #FF31 at the beginning of the page. The standard,
of course, is a little “off the mark” due to the use of the 7th page,
since very often you need a second screen and have to manipulate
LDIRs, but all the same, if you write something, then it’s worth
supporting this feature - exiting to Commander is much more convenient
than restarting TR-DOS. (Especially if you are a commander, then
be sure to support the standard in your boots).
Control keys:
File panel: cursor keys,
ENTER - read a file
or launch a BASIC file
EDIT - change disk,
SPACE - all files/onlyword files,
Q - exit to TR-DOS
or commander.
Viewer: cursor keys,
right SINCLAIR,
Q A O P,
TRUE/INV VIDEO,
F - text search,
SS/I - repeated search,
EXTEND MODE - write file to disk,
2 - (UN)WRAP,
I - change INK,
B - to the beginning of the text,
E - to the end of the text,
EDIT/BREAK - exit to the file panel.
When entering text: EDIT - RUS/LAT,
CAPS LOCK - CAPITAL/LOWERcase
SS/A, S, F, G, X, 0 - h, e, sh, sh, yu, b.
(In principle, everything is the same as in ZX-WORD.)

Hello, Wladimir!
It’s quiet outside the window, and I’m sitting and writing a response to a letter from Wladimir Bulchukey to All

When will there be 41 characters in a line?
With all kinds of regards and wishes.
Igor.
... As soon as you sharpen the question, you are immediately asked to wrap up.
