From Igor Zhadinets To All 15 November 1999

Hello, All!

Yesterday my spec died :-(. While working, the screen suddenly went dark and then different stripes started jumping across it. The processor is working, the ROM seems to be too.
I installed the test ROM, the test is running (strips are visible on the border), but on the screen
the picture does not change. I'm waiting for advice on how to bring my computer back to life. I would be glad
to any help.

I wish you good luck.

How are you, Igor?

It is entirely possible that your RAM or the IR23 register, which
pumps data to the screen, or the IR16 counters from the video controller have died.

By the way, are you working on Specky, grounding your computer or TV?

Sincerely, Musa Khaybullin.

Thanks for the advice, the problem really was in the RAM, or rather in the loss
of the CAS signal on one of rulers. Already fixed it.

In general, the switching power supply (and therefore the computer) is grounded, but what?

I wish you good luck. Igor.

Well, great!!! Another addition to our ranks ;)

Press RESET immediately, Musa!

How is this possible??? Don’t write nonsense.

I also know a case where it burned out printer... it doesn't mean anything.

It's very simple - click and that's it... From the kinescope, static voltage (directly from the bulb) can flow to the magnetization loop, and through it into the monitor circuit and into the computer. And there, anything can happen - the computer can work normally, or it can constantly glitch, and the microcircuits also burn out. Here:(.
Of course, all this is due to malfunctions in the equipment or a factory
flaw (for some reason, most Elektronik-VTC32 suffer from static
incidents :).

Sincerely, Dmitry.

No one writes nonsense here! I myself have encountered this more than once,
it was cured only by grounding.

With respect, Musa Khaybullin.

From Artur Ishmurzin To All 1 December 1999

There is no need to be so categorical, Kirill. if this has not happened to you,
this does not mean that this cannot happen in principle. look at me. Do I look like the person who suffered from the above problem? and yet
it is so. You can try it yourself - with one hand grab the computer case (if it is
metal and not grounded), and with the other hand touch the monitor screen.
the result of such actions is a dead VG, and in the case of a more fatal outcome -
dead memory.
