EP> We need to create an algorithm for recognizing floppy disks - ISDOS_800,
EP> ISDOS_640, TRDOS.
EP> For now I’m thinking like this:
EP> Read trk-0, sec-0
EP> At offset +10 - 3 bytes "DSK"
There is also an old format, where "DSK" is at offset +8

Do you know that starting from iS-DOS'98 the disk format has been changed?
On a tr-dos disk these 3 bytes can also be in the same place.
EP> How correct is this floppy disk identification algorithm?
EP> In general, it seems not reliable... How else can you do it?
No way. Install by hand. Otherwise, everything will turn out very difficult.

KF> Are you aware that starting from iS-DOS'98 the disk format has been changed?
Give the doc its format, if any...
Is it understood by the old kernel?
Does the new kernel understand the old format?
