From Alex Gofman To All 2 December 1998

Hello All !

To increase traffic :) and to resume the conversation about analog-to-digital
converters, I’m throwing in a converter circuit on a 155IR13 chip. Once upon a time there was a conversation about her. The question of the port address for the ADC still remains unclear. So which port should the ADC be connected to?

In the diagram, the 10 pF capacitance is selected so that one
value is read from the ADC port (if the register operates at the wrong time, then intermediate data will be read). The signal Ft is a clock signal, for Leningrad1 I took H1, the signal
/RD IS NOT A SIGNAL FROM THE PROCESSOR, it is a reading signal from the ADC port and should be
formed by the decoding signal of the ADC port. The input resistor is adjusted so that when 2.5 - 5 V is applied to the input, 255 is read from the port, i.e. first we twist it to the ground, and then slowly unscrew it, in the end a number from 0 to 255 should be read from the port and when the value of 255 is reached, we stop twisting the resistor. It is best to configure the ADC by selecting a capacitor, applying a voltage of more than 2.5 V to the input
(discard the resistor for now), i.e. make sure that the value 255 is read stably from the
port, and then you can screw up the resistor :)

Have the letters that I sent via the Internet reached you? Otherwise I didn’t receive any answer
from you :(

I saw this and decided to answer.

As you know, there is a port in AY, and the ADC is connected to it, usually to port “A”.
At least everyone in Kharkov has an ADC on AY. And to port “B”,
COVOX is attached, so the result is STEREO-COVOX (the first for 251 ports is the printer port).
By the way, very interesting results are obtained by changing the PA’s power supply, either 5 or
12 V, or smoothly (via a transistor) from 1 to 12 V.

For this, let me bow out. Sincerely, Andrey Khoroshilov.
