Isn't it time to make HDD a standard on Spec?
ZXNet echo conference «real.speccy»
From Valerij Kozhevnokov → To All 4 September 1998
YZ> Now I have a substantive thought.
It’s high time. Six months ago, more than a thousand SMUC controllers (this is for Scorpio) were sold. Imagine, _yesterday_ 1000 screws on the Spectrums are installed and working. I think THIS quantity is enough to declare a standard?????? By the way, it turns out to be the same number of hours, because... The screw controller and the clock are combined on one board.
Port #EFF7 is mainly available to subscribers of this echo, but for some reason it was declared a standard! :-/
And about the screw they say, “I don’t have one......and in general this is an isolated phenomenon......that means it’s not a standard.”
How many screws there are now is unknown, and this number will increase. Today, the scorpion has become even more widespread than the Pentagon. I talked to people on Fantop, it turns out that half of the Spectrum world uses scorpions. Moreover, a lot of people bought them (and peripherals) by mail.
One character from Norilsk struck me on the spot: it turns out there are _more_ scorpions in Norilsk than pussies!!! And they simply don’t know that the Spectrum in Russia is going through a crisis!!!
Obviously, the long language of propaganda of Bill Gates is very afraid to meddle in Norilsk :)))

Well, I (and not only) have been enjoying this convenience for a very long time and
enjoy it :) Screw 130M more than a year ago for $30.
And in MO.HALYAVA, I remember someone exchanged a 100M screw for a bottle
of beer =)

This is only in Russia.
And here it’s a problem to buy something by mail from Russia. Therefore, any
homemade, alterations, but not Scorps.
By the way, nowhere now! Apart from Russia, Spectrums are not produced.

I think this is not a big problem. We (KGS etc.) have well-established routes to St. Petersburg.
Can we offer companies to organize a transshipment point with us? Set up a
representative office in Ukraine. But who needs this?

The question is not for me, I can only say from the user’s side. Let the author tell you better.
With that, Yan, let me say goodbye.

It is necessary. Not for many, but it is necessary. After all, now some people have to buy cheap PCs due to the lack
of new high-quality ZX hardware...
Now the currencies will calm down and you can try. But I think those companies will not want to get involved with this. And customs, right now they introduced a 30% duty on imports! I don’t
know...
Everything there is already so expensive in relation to our situation, but while you’re getting there,
all sorts of expenses... - the computers will turn out to be “golden”! :(
All the best.

We have _well-worn_ paths! I’m not going to carry tons, we can
agree...Only shipping costs.

the author should not be considered at all: he just tried to do this and that,
as this is not his first year works. and has no idea how to create at least basic documentation for what was received.

Every evening I call this miracle: from the PC side I see how the hydra works wonderfully
works in both directions, the CPU is 1600-2000 at 14400 depending on the file type.
Myler has a program clock, with correction for the boss.
So, having a screw, you can safely leave the computer when going away for the weekend and
everything will be ok.
So I’m already serving two points, soon two or three more will be added.
So you’ll completely forget what tyrdos looks like ;)
Together with the damned hobeta :(

What are you working on the PC? What kind of hydra? That's what the Myler is called?
BS> The Myler has a program clock, with correction according to the boss.
What do you mean, on interruptions there is a clock?

That's what I'm talking about. I'm already tired of dialing by hand, and then
looking at long packages in the terminal.

Hydra is a bidirectional protocol. At the same time you upload and receive
files, practically without sacrificing CPS.

Yeah, if only there was at least something under .pkt in is-dos... Except for the unzipa, which
doesn't want to work on the hot button... :(
From Michael Kondratyev → To All 22 September 1998
where else could they be? It’s just that if there is an rtc, then they constantly check with it, and
otherwise there are no options. By the way, this same boss correction is perhaps one of the least useful functions. because the preset is many times more important, and nothing will help with it.
Bye, Michael.

I didn’t want to either, so I spat on it and stuck it in to the extent:
zip Q:EDIT\isunzjr
It’s even better than using a button - after long pauses in work you don’t have to remember
what and where.

:) I’ve done this myself, and on "zip" and to "ZIP". But because I receive mail in this very “zip” - the names of the packages differ only in extensions, and each time
calling/renaming the received mail packages is inconvenient... :( I have to
zip each file separately from the command line...
With this, Vladimir, let me say goodbye.
