ZXNet echo conference «real.speccy»
From Max Dudnikov → To All 24 December 1999
First, let me introduce myself: [TEAM GUITAR] [TEAM DRINK] [TEAM Gaza Strip-BEST!] [TEAM ... Not drinking in Russia is better than not drinking!
Max Dudnikov aka Darth Vader (Black Lord :)
At Speck for 7 years, at the assembler - 4 years.
Until the summer of '99, I was the organizer of the Chelyabinsk association 'Triumph', but left
Tedov due to the team's NOT desire to work at the pace that I considered
optimal for maintaining Speckie's life in our city. Now I am
the organizer of my team 'Orion Group'.
I was the only one in the city on
I finally completed, I hope, the latest version of the sprite editor 2*2 (there is no
desire to waste time on it again its next bells and whistles). bytes, and people get hemorrhoids because of a glitch :)
Well, reviews, of course, are eagerly awaited :)))
If someone needs an interface included in the subject, but not for beauty, but
for realwork, then write!!!

Well, it’s a glitch or not a glitch, you decide for yourself, but the inclusion of 48 ROMs with open
pages had to be done! Otherwise, running every time through USR0 from
128 BASIC can get quite boring :)

Well, for me too - everything hangs, nothing works. Because of Kempston,
your program thinks that the joystick is moving. And instead of the joystick
I have a PC<->ZX LINK. Only not all the bits are used there, you can
understand that there is no joystick. And in general you can write a correct
procedure for processing the joystick and identifying it.
And so only the music plays. You wrote that it was written for real spec?
So nothing, it only works in the emulator.

What are you all??? the key combination is like 'Symbol Shift+K', so
it turns on/off this notorious Kempston! And the XT-keyboard is also turned off by default, so that no one swears... You sent me confirmation that such glitches happen because of Kempston, then I'll believe it!

I took it, looked at it, now I don't understand anything - yesterday it was hanging,
today it's working. I restarted it several times, and from MMD too. :-/
I should have looked right then, but there is a glitch somewhere.
MD> Kempston can’t be a problem. What else were you talking about ERRSP?
128 BASIC pushes something wrong onto the stack, not like 48 BASIC.
Usually you take the top of the stack, put the address of the error handling program
of BASIC there, lower the stack and put it in ERRSP. This is how stalker
did it in STS.
MD> To ALL: let’s give all the comments on the subject at once - correct something there
MD>, etc., while I’m getting into it!
Make a normal screen saver, with stars...
Why is it that when you drag the vertical scroll bar, it is painted over,
and The horizontal one is not painted over and is also poorly dragged. Well, the text
does not change while the scroll bar is moving. And windows cannot be pushed beyond the screen
and it’s generally not bad to have a larger virtual screen.
And also the [BACK] and [BACK TO START] buttonspictures...
And most importantly, does it work through 3D13? Well, just imagine, you
would have a scorpio with SMUC-Device.
The interface is creepy. Now there is a systems-tools-menu on the screen and I DO NOT UNDERSTAND ANYTHING.
Some pictures. At least I made some captions, the tooltips are all
obstructed,
the colors are kind of acidic. The offtopic Windows/Amiga interface is just right IMHO.
Well, some kind of uniformity is needed, so that there is the same arrow and the same
buttons everywhere, otherwise, again, nothing is clear. Contextual help... And the mouse
is necessary, it is extremely inconvenient to move the arrow buttons.
I still haven’t figured out how to write sprites :-( And it loads all the crap in a row.

It turns out that I didn’t have any problems with the launch either. Now
it’s working, maybe there’s a small glitch hidden somewhere. be.

A> What kind of project? Something slipped my mind, remind me :(
=== Cut ===
The project is very large-scale, voluminous and complex... Here is an excerpt:
One thing is for sure - according to the plan, this has never happened on Speck and will not happen if
no one wants to help make it, because I alone in such a sophisticated
toy will simply drown at the very beginning of its creation. The game will (???) be written based on the series of books about Grayson Carlisle "Combat Robots. Battle; Mercenary Star;
The Price of Glory". First there will be an adventure in the style of "ZH", when you need to survive after the attack on his father's headquarters. Then you need to put together a squad and effectively manage it - this is the type of manager AND THE MOST important thing is STRATEGY. When you plan various operations, engage in trade, breeding
livestock, etc. This will already be in the style of a crazy-sophisticated "Last Battle".
(this is where the idea of the game began). There will be endless space for
strategic plans, but it should be interesting
for both those who have read them and those who have not read them. after I finish the first two games, no one will volunteer to help me, it will be (???)
just a strategic part.
=== Cut ===
Once again I express my gratitude to those who volunteered to help, and I also say, that
anyone can participate in the creation of a project (code, gfx, music, etc...),
the main thing is that the person is responsible!

K> Are bits 6,7,8 masked?
No, because one of them contains the XT keyboard press bit. Do you know this method? Here is the listing:
KEMP_SCAN LD HL,TABL_UPR ;table with control buttons. Entry point for
XOR A ;scanning cursor/arrow control
IN A,(#1F) ;take the kempston state
KEMP_Y_N
AND #00 ;if disabled, then 0, otherwise - #1F
LD E,A ;save in the resulting register
JR $+2+2 ;bypass its initialization
KEY_SCAN
LD E,0 ;entry point for scanning buttons. in the HL table
KEYB1
LD A,(HL) ;take the keyboard port
CP #FF ;if #FF, then the end of the table is the output
JR Z,EXIT_SCAN
INC HL
IN A,(#FE) ;look at the state of the port
CPL ;invert for convenience
AND (HL) ;check with the required bit. if the
INC HL ;key is not pressed, then we bypass
JR Z,KEYB2
LD A,(HL) ;otherwise we turn on the required bit in the resulting
OR E ;register
LD E,A
KEYB2
INC HL ;and we continue...
JR KEYB1
EXIT_SCAN
LD A,E ;if nothing is pressed, then the output will be
AND A ;moisture 'Z' is turned on
RET
Here's the program... In the table, 3 bytes are spent on 1 button - the port, the bit
that interests you, and which bit to include in the resulting register. #FF-end
because when polling the XT keyboard, port is 0. And so you can do 0, and check by
AND A.

K> Good controller. Reading from 00FE is buggy, it needs HALT,
Firstly, in 3 years of using this controller, I personally have not encountered any glitches from the #FE port. Secondly, you should always put HALT before the _NEXT_
keyboard survey - IMHO, this is an unwritten law that must
be observed! You’re not going to display an image when the beam doesn’t know where!?
So why is it not necessary to set HALT before the survey? This is elementary ethics,
the same asswitch pages by full addressing, and not by OUT (#FD)!
K> you can’t enable cheats in dizzis... Mazda definitely.
And thirdly, cheats should be done wisely, and not force the user to learn

Of all the problems I have encountered, the lack of one button with such a -> "
quote! Enlighten the ignoramus, which buttons I have do not match. And that instead of
the inscriptions Caps Lock, Alt, etc, these buttons have different functions, it’s the other way around,
