Is-DOS

From Stanislav Udin To All 12 April 2000

Hello, All! I have a number of questions about using IS-DOS. We kindly request those who know the answers will respond. 1. After installing a new disk driver from Ruiner #0R_DRIV.IMG (thanks for a good driver), who recently flew here, I finally started without problems reading MS-DOS, TR-DOS disks, as well as SMUC partitions (this is just great), but now I can’t format the disk (or rather create IS-DOS device) - the computer crashes or freezes, open it to disk image (*.IMG) from hard drive, etc. There are probably some problems with recording. What to do? Is it really possible to refuse a good driver? 2. I can’t print anything from the new version of IS-DOS (December 1999). When When I try to print (key "H") I get error 128 (no space for the channel). I I deleted all possible residents - the problem remains. With the old version though There are no problems with the set of residents and drivers. Is this an incompatibility of the old PRINT programs with the new system or is it still a matter of some subtleties settings? 3. There was a need to print text from under IS-DOS on an inkjet printer Hewlett Packard Desk Jet 690C+. At the same time, several problems arose. The text itself is displayed perfectly, but... After each new sheet you need to press the corresponding key on the printer so that it retracts the paper. And the most important thingproblem - the printer does not understand Epson's control codes, it probably has them others, although it uses ESC sequences. How to get HP to print DJ690C+ in wide and narrow fonts, italic, bold, etc.? 4. Is there a program capable of cutting and then gluing ANY long file? Special case: you need to burn an IS-DOS disk image from an MS-DOS floppy disk hard drive, and the disk, naturally, is smaller than the image. 5. Is there pkUnZip.com for Is-DOS? 6. I can’t find the SMUC clock support program for iS-DOS. Share, please. 7. I can’t run iS-DOS with SMUK’s RunMe.B program. I turn it on in the shadow autoconfig, then press reset, the computer accesses the disk drive, then it briefly turns into the screw, as indicated by the rustling of the screw and the LED, and... boot.B starts from the floppy disk. In the system itself, ZHdd is configured and works without problems, but it has to be loaded as written in the SMUC manual. Maybe can anyone instruct me what needs to be done so that everything did it work? Maybe it's because of the new system (December 1999)? Best regards, Stanislav

OG> :) In short, I purposefully tried to test your driver, but I still found a pattern of appearance glitch. Describe what I did and when the driver was buggy. 1) Formatting a 3.5" floppy disk in isdos format (formatter 1999), which was previously formatted in MSDOS 720 kb. The format goes without problems, it reaches the end and when When it comes to creating a device, the computer is reset. I'm trying to launch create.com, it does something, but when I trydisplay the directory, errors 9 are thrown (not is-dos device) and 87 (no device), something else. I'm trying to unpack disk image from the screw (after all, the disk is already formatted) - errors the same (9, 87, etc.). I'm trying to format it again - the result is the same. I'm rebooting with the standard disk driver and format the same floppy disk without problems. I'm overloaded with your driver and everything works OK, even repeating reformatting and create.com. Although after some number of formattings, the formatter has become resident somewhere and Against the background of standard panels, I formatted drive A over and over again, crashing at the end with the same errors and offering again insert floppy disk, etc. Also, I tried the old one the formatter with your driver - everything is OK, but the floppy disk is not recognized new system. 2) The system with your driver completely resets the computer when you try to run the msdos formatter (1993 year), and with a standard driver it works without problem. 3) There was something else, but now I’m focused I didn’t find it in testing. Just in case, here is the configuration of my computer: Scorpion ZS-256 TURBO (yellow) ProfPZU 4.01, TURBO KEY/LED, #1FFD OFF KEY/LED, FDD 5.25" Teac, FDD 3.5" Panasonic, SMUC+DALLAS, HDD 133 Mb IBM (such a company), SU>> 2. Hello, captain cobalt cap> Quote from ZX-Format#4/Interview/Captain NEMO ... Comment cap> Iskrasofta: cap> Can we call the restart system RST #10? Why? What is it about cap> at all? Of course, RST #10 can be called a restart system. And in the letter to Nemo it was meant not the number of entry points, but the number of functions and their diversity and versatility at a given entry point. Entry point #3D13 is really difficult call it a full-fledged restart system. Precisely complete, because Of course, in fact, it is such a system.
