From Max Kuleshov To All 7 March 2006

Hello caro Thank you. I'll try TELEDISK, although I'll have to rearrange the drive, otherwise the machine that has 5.25" windows is not installed... And extra images would be useful. My email: kuleshov(a)org.vrn.ru

Hello, maximk max> TELEDISK I'll try, although I'll have to rearrange the drive, otherwise max> the machine on which 5.25" windows is not installed... The safest way to work with it is under DOS.

Hello, maximk max> I'm interested in the pro version of CP/M. max> ... max> 1) What version of the pro is this CP/M for? Or does it work for anyone? Works on any Pro! max> 2) A strange disk format is obtained, judging by these images: max> 79 tracks, 2 sides, 6 sectors per track, 1024 bytes per sector. Disc format: 80 tracks/5 sectors of 1024 bytes/2 sides Total total disk volume is 800 kb. On IBM, the most convenient way to read records of disk images is to use the program TELEDISK. If necessary, I can send several disk images under e-mail CP/M for Pros.

Hello, All I'm interested in the pro version of CP/M. I found only some BOOT.RAR files on the Internet (inside the image in FDI format) and cpm.zip (inside the image in UDI format). I have questions. 1) Which pro version is this CP/M for? Or does it work for anyone? 2) A strange disc format is obtained, judging by these images: 79 tracks, 2 sides, 6 sectors per track, 1024 bytes per sector. My 5.25 floppy drive on PC does not want to format the floppy disk in this format. For formatting I use fdutils on Linux. It seemed to me that CP/M used a format of 5 sectors per track...

Hello, kgbplus Somehow the stone flower doesn't come out... teledisk does not want to restore the floppy disk. Maybe because I boot DOS from a CD with floppy emulation... But teledisk accesses the disk, and directly to head=0 cyl=0 freezes and reports an error. I also took a closer look at what’s so funny about this floppy disk, what’s the usual It doesn't work by transferring or formatting. It turns out that on head=0 cyl=0 the 5th according to the account, the sector is designated number 9. And this was done so that the floppy disk remains autoloading under TR-DOS... I tried to recreate it under Linux using shamanic manipulations with setfdprm, superformat, etc. There are shifts :) Floppy disk it seems to start loading, the computer switches to advanced graphics and freezes on a blank screen... Maybe I recreated it crookedly :)

Hello, maximk max> teledisk does not want to restore the floppy disk. Maybe because I'm loading max> DOS from a CD with floppy emulation... But teledisk accesses the disk, and max> directly on head=0 cyl=0 freezes and reports an error. Apparently teledisk works with the flop controller at the hardware level, That's why I recommend working under pure DOS. By the way, the tdconfig utility (24 kbytes) is included with telefisk, allowing configure it for specific hardware. max> ... It turns out that on head=0 cyl=0 the 5th sector is indicated max> number 9. This was done so that the floppy disk remains autoloadable max> for TR-DOS... This is exactly the case and only for the first track and the zero side. Unlike IS-DOS, by the way, in which all fifth sectors are numbered 9.

From Max Kuleshov To All 10 March 2006

Hello caro Yes, there’s something else I can’t figure out: this boot sector, why is it loading? tr-dos? After all, on track zero, TR-DOS does not use sectors numbered > 8. And most importantly, at what address it is located and from what address it is launched the program recorded in it? Judging by the content, then not from the beginning, because at offset 0 there is LDIR moving code from #100 to #8000. But this is the case if it is launched as .COM file.

From Max Kuleshov To All 10 March 2006

Hello, Maksagor > If you count from one... Oh, damn, I forgot about that... Exactly. Thank you. Next, I think I’ll figure it out :)

It contains information about the type of floppy disk, the number of files and free space. This is the sector TR-DOS ALWAYS reads before starting work with a floppy disk, and thanks to manipulations with it, you can organize autostart (only this sector then must be larger than 256 bytes, otherwise nothing will come out). The remaining sectors, 10-16, are really not used.

From Doronetty To All 10 March 2006

Hello, maximk Let's collect and place CP/M software under Profi - otherwise on the network in addition to 18 There are no discs on Power of Sound! :)

From Alekseenko Alexey To All 11 March 2006

Hello Doronetty I remember at the pros there were 3 demos under CP/M, one of them was MADNES REMIX. Unfortunately, I threw away all the disks with these programs.

From Zuev Sergey To All 13 March 2006

Hello, kgbplus kgb> Here is the promised list of software: kgb> kgb> All floppy disks are signed "CP/M for PROFI". I didn't watch them, not even kgb> I know if they are readable. Teledisk read at least the first 4 floppy disks kgb> calmly. Will there be disk images? And then the third professional has been lying around here for 13 years, and to him only 5 floppy disks...

From Doronetty To All 13 March 2006

Hello megabyte I also read some of this software with Teledisk. But only in my opinion Some images didn’t turn out that way - not all of them work. For example Movie After launch, Demo displays an “illegal copy” and crashes, although the image was taken from the most legal one :) And let's find some place where all these Pro-discs will be laid out possible. Otherwise the Pro was somehow left behind...

From Roman Mindlin To All 13 March 2006

Hello megabyte There will be images, but most likely next weekend.

From Doronetty To All 15 March 2006

Hello, kgbplus I'm looking forward to it :) Another question: can anyone remove the protection from them? Otherwise As I already wrote, some people just don’t want to work!

Hello, ice'di^triumph Hyper!!! :) And in what form is it - disks or images? Send by mail or post can you do it somewhere?

From ice'di^triumph To All 17 March 2006

Hello Doronetty Software on 5.25' floppy disks. Tomorrow I'll take the disk drive (mine is broken...) and start distill into images.

From Doronetty To All 17 March 2006

Hello, ice'di^triumph Your homeland will not forget you!!! :) I only advise you to immediately check these images for functionality in the emulator (or take some image and transfer it back to disk and look at it in real life) - otherwise I also have a lot of images, but not everyone wants to work - defense she swears, but somehow I don’t know how to break her :(

From Alexander Makhov To All 5 January 2007

Hello Doronetty Maybe a kind person will come along and post images of CP/M disks. Otherwise there is a Profik, and There are no disks for CP/M. And I really want to.
