Hello, Daniel first you need to try it head-on: take the digitized video, feed it to nero vision express and see what comes out of it on a home player. should it will be very scary ;)

From Daniil Bayanov To All 16 February 2006

Hello, Daniel which is typical if you copy from a video cassette to DVD (with hardware on Panasonice VHS+DVD) then the quality of DVD is no different from film, but this is absolutely stupid somehow.

From Daniil Bayanov To All 16 February 2006

Hello diver div> on PC the quality is tolerable there is no problem with this! the showman rules. You need PAL on a 50 Hz TV. For household DVD. Thanks for the link, I read it!

From Valery Grigoriev To All 4 March 2006

Hello, Daniel There will be problems with the screen frequency, As far as I remember, PAL has a frequency of 25Hz, so it will be more or less living with video “robbed” at a frequency of 50Hz, but with NTSC it’s worse there at 30Hz refresh rate and therefore there will be obvious jerks when playing demos, etc. (in scrolling, of course) or, even worse, blurriness. Also, how are you going to render a 256x192 image to 712x500 (or I don’t remember exactly how much there is) - the player itself will do it so that you want watching this will be completely off-putting.

From psb To All 6 March 2006

Hello,GriV It seems to me that making a converter from 50Hz Avikha to DVD format is not so difficult, you need to be able to work with video... for example, is it really difficult to stretch a picture? as it should, make it 25 Hz, but as it should be, 2 fields (so that it will be smooth on DVD)? if you think in individual pictures, it’s simple, but, for example, I don’t know how to unpack from the avi and pack where necessary..

From Daniil Bayanov To All 30 March 2006

Hello, psb so what about the specialists? oh? what to distill?

Where does 256 come from? What about the border and demos with it? Resizing Spec's 512x384 to 720x576 is not a problem, even with the same Virtual Dub. But here you also need to remember that the pixels in DVD are not square, but rectangular.

From psb To All 13 June 2006

Hello, psb yeah.. somehow the topic has died down;)) apparently no one cares.. so what! I took it and tried it! :) what did I do: 1. I recorded a video using RealSpectrum - a demo of Action from E'96. screen resolution I set it to PAL format (***x288). That means I received avi. 2. I bit too much in VirtualDub. 3. I also converted this video into pictures in bmp 720x288 format.. image stretched horizontally (I did it without smoothing, whether in vain or not - I don’t know). I got about 6000 pictures. 4. It also retained the sound. 5. in the make_interlaced program posted here earlier, I converted the pictures, It turned out to be about 3000 pieces. 6. I adjusted the sound length in SoundForge: the video was recorded at a frequency of 48 Hz, and will be shown at 50, so the sound had to be shortened by 4 seconds. again I don’t know how to correct the time correctly.. maybe it’s easier too, using a program write one that cuts out samples.. because in soundforge it’s somehow muddy, a bunch modes (trying to keep the tonality the same). 7. Then in the dub I collected Avi from a new bunch of pictures and a new sound. sweep - 25 Hz. 8. I put this avi into Adobe EncoreDVD 1.0 (I already found it). made a menu there button.. “transcoded” this avikha.. I ended up with a disk image. That's it, then I put this image into virtual seed and checked it out in the player :) so what? The first time the twitching was clearly visible! mixed up the fields... but it turns outin EncoreDVD in the settings there is a sequence of fields :) changed it - got a good one result :) then I went and recorded the image onto a disc, put it in a real DVD player and... oh yeah!:))))) this is just super!!!:))))))) what you could only dream of!:))) smoothness - like the original! :))) and synchronization with sound, and everything else! :))) so I trudged along :)) here :) only one mystery remains: at the beginning of the demo the flying dots are white, but at on TV they blinked in all colors;) as if there were random attributes... although, if look at it on the computer, there are no smears, everything is clearly white... maybe the TV is like that shows? Well, it’s not clear in what form it’s better to write the sound... I wrote it as pcm, although it’s possible like ac3, like with compression... and how to compress video more correctly is also unknown, need to experiment.. Well, maybe someone will continue?

Hello, psb psb> you know, if there was no difference, no one would have started the topic! all psb> the catch is to repeat the 50Hz spectrum!!! and in order for you to do this psb> you definitely won’t get it, you need to understand physics.. First of all, try it. psb> well, on DemoOrDie discs the sound is recorded in PCM, no problems psb> no :) And no one said that PCM is not possible at all. There _may_ be problems. Depends much from the software. The one I used didn't understand the PCMs shoved into it. It is possible that your software understands - then go ahead. And I’ll ask about AC3 again - What's the point of converting stereo to DD? psb> means there are no half-frames... i.e. do you want to say right now that I have psb> are 25 images drawn per second? or what? that one of the 2 is empty? psb> psb> dude, it seems one of us doesn’t fully understand the point.. Hello icebear ice> There is software that itself converts “wrong” PCM in general, there is no problem converting, although it accepted 44 for me, I’m talking about what is needed is to have as few conversions as possible... lost on them a lot.. the sampling frequency for AY should generally be about 110 kHz (sort of), but written in 44. Naturally, it is truncated, it doesn’t sound right. this is a fact. then these 44 _somehow_ they will also convert to 48... how - it is unknown, there are many ways. but It will be correct here - when the sound is _immediately_ written in 48. ice> if I haven’t seen the living Pentagon, then I don’t accordingly ice> is given to convert correctly. how is this? how will you convert from English? Convert with emulsion anyway.. it is important to do it theoretically correctly! in general, each deme should have its own approach... we must take into account which the layout the music was written for, what computer the demo was for, etc. watch and re-watch.. otherwise you’ll put everything together, and then it will come up that something isn’t right exactly as it should have been... and it’s a bit hard to do all this.. you need sooooo much free space on the disk there’s a lot, but it’s not always there.. and it takes a long time to convert..

From Vyacheslav Kalinin To All 15 June 2006

Hello, psb psb> but the question was about color distortion! because of what? Firstly, the compression itself blurs the colors, add post-processing to this, for EVERYONE player, it works in its own way, the more expensive the more sophisticated it is (but it’s not a fact that better for us), read about the internal structure of players, for example on IXBT. And it’s better to press the sound, in ac3 they ate something else, it doesn’t matter, WAV takes up quite a lot of space.

Hello new art new> 192 will be enough. do you hear it or what? no, seriously?

From Daniil Bayanov To All 26 September 2006

Hello new art Somehow the topic died down, but the issue remains unresolved! here http://www.pctuner.ru/page-id-214.html There is information close to the topic, but to be honest, I didn’t understand anything. excerpt: Probably many have already become accustomed to the “2x fps” mode in the Fly 2000 TV program and no longer can imagine life without this regime. But that's when we capture the video we can't get the same smoothness that "2x fps" gives us mode. The thing is that we capture honestly 25 frames/s, software player reproduces the same 25 fps, so there’s no catch here. If we let's try to make a 25 fps -> 50 fps conversion, then this will not give us the desired effect will bring, the video will either play twice as fast, or it will the same 25 frames/s are played back, but at a frequency of 50 fps. What is it about secret? Why do we see one thing on TV, even Fly 2000 TV can do this, but I can't play the file at all. It's all a game of fields. Actually it is necessary carry out the correct conversion, taking into account the fields. This will create 50 fps video, which in general does not suit us due to the redundancy of information and large final file size. But to evaluate the effect of 50 frames/s it might fit. To create such a correct 50 fps video, inverse will help us telecine (manipulation of frames and fields is the calling of this filter). NoneThere is no need to do any tricks, just set the frame rate in the filter to 50 fps and also in the options "MPEG Settings/Video -> Frame Rate -> 50 fps" (the very first TMPGEnc options tab). Then set "Deal after this frame according to selected pattern -> 11" and export the video to some fast AVI codec (PicVideo MJPEG for example) via "File -> Output to file -> Avi file", since we only need this for evaluation and not for final compression. Try it perform all these operations with a captured fragment of a football match or something else some kind of live broadcast. Finally we got the same thing we see on TV screen or Fly 2000 TV :). But what's the problem, why can't we use this technique to save video. Can. But as mentioned above, this video will suffer redundancy of information, since among 50 frames only 25 carry information, the remaining 25 are created from the previous 25 and are therefore redundant when encoding. In addition, the bitrate is needed twice as much. Yes, and not everyone has 50 fps video. the computer will be able to overcome (some can barely cope with 25 fps :). One more trouble is the inapplicability of adaptive deinterlacing filters, so what To apply deinterlacing you will need to select either double or none filter And finally - he knows how to handle fields really wellonly MPEG-2 codec but it is not applicable in videos with frame rates greater than 30 fps. DivX is not applicable due to its heavy requirements on computer resources. All these facts indicate the applicability of using 50 fps video, which itself itself is non-standard. But if TMPGEnc can perform such an operation with fields, then can’t the player rearrange two fields in each frame when playing on the fly? Maybe. But in fact, such players do not exist. In addition, criticality to computer resources still remains, although it is not so already demanding. But in this case, the video must be saved interlaced, otherwise nothing will work with progressive video. And since the player can apply a deinterlacing filter on the fly - again, this is not a big deal. Here probably you should definitely use MPEG-2 since it is the only knows how to handle fields correctly. Therefore, one can only expect that someone implements this feature in its software player or writes such a player again :) You can take the DVD2Avi project as a basis, the sources are available, video he knows how to reproduce. My research with the source code showed that that the Duron 1300 processor copes with the task assigned to it without any problems task to play 25 fps MPEG-2 video, while converting it on the fly into 50 fps. However, this is the result of only video output without further processing.(deinterlacing, etc.), without audio output. Therefore, if the developers wish already now you can achieve the same smoothness of the image as on a household TV.

I can’t evaluate the sound because a bear stepped on my ear as a child (authentic AY or not =)) The only thing that bothers me is the display of “multi-color” graphics when the screen switches quickly and quickly =). I don’t know what they call it scientifically, but what I saw today in the preliminary results (without DVD mastering in media player) is monstrous. Although, I assume that it will be fine on TV. Hello, The Exploited Sports.... By and large, the debate is pointless. Everyone has their own memories about what the Spectrum screen should look like. Someone had a dead lamp TV, and someone has a top-end Electronics monitor. Does anyone have any black and white TV and this really reflected in the work of these people (chunks). So it’s not surprising that now the emulator’s picture even with filters seems unnatural to many. But there are no other options, and the most important thing is that nothing can be returned

Hello, unbeliever Hmm. I apologize for the harshness. In general, this is about digitization from real life. A flag in your hands and a tambourine around your neck! What the next BT8x8 clone will capture is you. look, okay? But these chips are installed on 90% of budget cards (up to $200) - well or their modification. Screaming about “unsporting”, “need to be done in real life”, etc. - well... IT WILL NOT WORK WITH THIS QUALITY. Even if you hurt yourself. The picture is not the same. Not alive image, and every frame is valuable. So I ask you to refrain from extremism and holy wars - it just looks funny. Regarding the step-by-step guide. If necessary, I will take screenshots and try to describe the whole process, really everything “Okay” I’m at work, so it won’t be quick. See approximate description after avs script post. About the difference between the pictures of the speculator and the real-spectrum. The main and most disgusting drawback of the speculator is that he writes the sound into the message board _mono_. Although maybe I missed something =(. And it seems to spoil the AVI header. Real Spectrum shows the camera icon in the lower left at some intervals corner. This is reduced by a filter like LogoAway. And experienced avi synth gurus can find Google the filter and insert the processing directly into the script. Then VirtualDub will be stupid frameserver without any useful actions. For now, I’ll outline the key technology again. 1. We rob 320x240@50fps avi from RealSpectrum. We use the unstable version forWin32, which runs in Window mode, not full screen. At the same time, we are not I'm worried about the brakes and synchronization - everything will get into the AVI correctly. Who has a car more powerful - set the maximum compression. The picture will not be spoiled, but the places We'll save a lot. 2. Launch Virtual Dub. Load the Logo Away filter and configure it for cutting out the camera. There is more than one filter like this, look for the one that appeals to you the most. 3. In the File menu, select Start Frame Server, save “pseudo”-avi on disk. Let's start the frame server. 4. Open a text editor like notepad and enter in our avi synth script path to the file created in step 3. This is a simple task, even those who who suggests digitizing from real life =). Don't forget to save the file. 5. Launch ANOTHER Virtual Dub (let me remind you that we have the previous copy frameserver verifies our demo and removes the camera through the filter) 6. Open the avs file as if it were a regular avi. 7. We see a picture of 720x576. Let's try. 8. Similarly to step 3, we launch another frame server. Save fake-avi to a new one file. 9. Launch TMPG encoder. A trial version with full information is available on the website. functionality. I note that in _well-known_ places you can look for a remedy for depriving the developer of his hard-earned money. But I think that all the demos who interesting ones can be digitized in a week. 10. If a picture with a Wizard appears, everything is ok. If not, in the file menu we call it is forced.11. Open the avi saved in step 8. and in the wizard select PAL-DVD. 12. We encode EXCLUSIVELY in mpv+mp2 (something like that), and not in mpg. TMPG is not inserts navigation information into the multiplexed stream. So many DVD mastering tools may not eat mpg 13. We are waiting. 14. We feed the resulting pair of files to any DVD mastering utility. 15. We watch the demo and shed a few tears for the fucked-up 90s. Programs used. notepad.exe AviSynth 2.5 Virtual Dub TMPG Encoder 3 latest software - links to them are on www.doom9.org Anyway, good luck and thanks for your attention. It's lazy to take screenshots. But can I kick about the details via email or privately. I'll explain if anything is unclear.

There was an idea to roll up 3 demos from each party, starting with enlight 9x, so here it isbad luck - there were so many parties that it was unclear where to start =))) and which ones to throw away. More ideas - the menu for DVD can be made in the style of zx-format and similar ones. The only thing is to avoid losing all the details when compressing, The video bitrate needs to be increased one and a half to two times.

This resolution is not supported by the DVD specifications. dan> and here and there the standard DVD Palovsky 720 for some... dan> it’s just that in one case the border is entire and in another it’s twice as big I mistyped 704. So about the curb. Spectrum resolution: 384x312 (320) If we want to get minimal distortions then need to be resized 2 times, without any filters. And we get 768x624 (640) Since it’s still a rare TV that will produce such a resolution and the standard is not supports, then we crop the image using the border to 720x576. The result is 2x redundancy. Therefore, first I advise you to try encode the image 1 in 1, without resizing, but again with a slight crop border, that is, 352x288. At this resolution, a bitrate of 4 Mbit is quite enough. I think the quality will be the same, and there will be 2 times more demos.

We take CanOpus Pro coder 2 and stupidly transfer avi spectaculatora to DVD (directly to VOB) and tried to play with the fields - it doesn’t matter - it’s still smooth and high-quality... Therefore, the question has arisen - what will we convert to the first DVD? And what else will we do? you need to tinker - make a menu. Please at least start with backgrounds on the topic zx demoscene... (1024*768 is probably enough)

From Daniil Bayanov To All 9 January 2007

Hello new art Layer II 224 kbps stereo will be.

From Daniil Bayanov To All 9 January 2007

Hello new art new> 704x576? where is this from? 1024*768 will be fine - believe me! as much as possible...

From Daniil Bayanov To All 9 January 2007

Hello new art new> What is the resolution here and there? new> Do you know that DVD pixels are not square? new> In general, in theory, you can store a 352x288 image, and let the player do it new> resize, I think that resizing the player exactly 2 times will allow you to get it new> is exactly the same as with the real spec. The only thing is to new> compression does not lose any details, the video bitrate is needed once in new> raise one and a half to two. and here and there the standard DVD Palovsky 720 for some... it’s just that in one case the border is entire and in another it’s twice as big We won't rely on chance :) we don't do VCDs :v2_wink2; bitrate; Is 9000 ok?

From Daniil Bayanov To All 9 January 2007

Hello new art new> What is this for, for a menu? Yes, I just haven’t decided on the style yet, if it’s ZYX then I probably don’t need it anymore!

From moroz1999 To All 9 January 2007

Hello, Daniel dan> Layer II 224 kbit/s stereo will be. why him? Are they already abandoning it?

From moroz1999 To All 9 January 2007

Hello, moroz1999 And, and still - ABC/ACB?

From psb To All 9 January 2007

Hello new art new> Do you know that DVD pixels are not square? they are there in diamond shapes, yeah :))) daniel, how is the issue of converting the Pentagon’s 48-something hertz to 25 resolved? those. What's going on with the sound? who resamples it? and this.. IMHO, but there’s no need for mono.. but it would be nice to have subtitles, title, authors, year/party, etc.

From Vyacheslav Kalinin To All 9 January 2007

Hello, moroz1999 mor> and also - ABC/ACB? Now I listened to how Spectraculator emulates AY, HORROR!! :v2_sick; Noises; envelope... as if I went back 5 years into the past... that's just crazy mono, abc, acb... :v2_conf2; So; As a way out, I see attaching video recording to Unreal.

From Vyacheslav Kalinin To All 9 January 2007

Hello new art Somehow this SpectaХУlator thing doesn’t want to record video more than 352x288, and the sound, the asshole writes in mono anyway. :confused; Maybe; Should he be grunted? :v2_conf2:

From Vyacheslav Kalinin To All 9 January 2007

Hello, psb psb> they are there in diamond shapes, yeah)) I meant the relation to the pixels of PC monitors, for example I take a picture of 500 pixels wide, I measure it with a ruler, rotate it 90 degrees, and measure it, it became longer by half a centimeter. So that the circle would be a circle on the monitor and on the TV, when authoring in Photoshop, we specified the aspect ratio of the pixels.

From elfh To All 9 January 2007

Hello new art Daniel, why didn’t you like the option that F0lken suggested? RS32 issues The sound is normal, and the video after all the manipulations is of excellent quality. I converted all INWARD demos to mpeg2. One DVD fits about an hour and a half with maximum quality in TMPGenc. I didn’t worry about converting 48 Hz to 25 - I was more than satisfied with what I got.

From Vyacheslav Kalinin To All 10 January 2007

Hello elf elf> I didn’t worry about converting 48 Hz to 25 - that’s what I get elf> more than satisfied. Are frame effects normal? Objects moving smoothly have not acquired a shadow (trail)? Is the chessboard distinguishable or does it merge into a uniform tone? Have you checked the TV+DVD player?

From Roman Borokhov To All 10 January 2007

Hello, Daniel dan> in general, we’ve been fighting this throughout the entire topic... we seem to have overcome it... :) Well then cool :D

From Roman Borokhov To All 10 January 2007

Hello new art There will also be a slightly uneven movement in the scrolls - due to beats between pixel rendering frequency and screen drawing frequency - looks like "bounce" one pixel back (forward) with the frequency of these beats. Although on TV it might smooth out...

From moroz1999 To All 10 January 2007

Hello, Daniel dan> add, for example, two audio tracks (ABC/ACB), you need to think... By the way, not the worst solution to the problem!! dan> GIGSCREEN in the emulator on/off? I am for maximum proximity to reality, so everything that is completed emulator - you need to cut it off. leave only hardware gigascreen emulation, the way it was in hardware, and enabled by software. Don't skimp on the bitrate, blanks are cheap :D

From Daniil Bayanov To All 10 January 2007

Hello, Daniel The sound will be ABC (we seem to have all written under ABC?), not counting those where it is possible choose... And maybe someone else has a Windows font based on the ZYX boot? GIGSCREEN in the emulator on/off? Elfh! What bitrate did you use for the video? and how many demos are included?

I didn’t worry about converting 48 Hz to 25 - so what elf> it turns out I was more than satisfied. Yesterday I switched to RS32 myself, due to the fact that the stereo in the spectaculatore could not do it! I noticed one feature in the video spectacle that is captured 50.00 fps and in realspec 48.62 - which, according to Pentagon standards, is correct! The sound is there really better! Canopus understands and doesn't seem to screw up...

Hello new art new> This meant the relation to the pixels of PC monitors For some reason it seems to me that if you make a picture in pal size (4:3), If you draw a circle there and watch it on TV, it will be a circle. for us, most likely, it will not matter; resizing is best exactly 2 times. md> There will also be a little uneven movement in the scrolls no unevenness! if you do everything correctly, as you learned;) dan> and add, for example, two audio tracks (ABC/ACB), you need to think... It’s probably better to understand in what layout the author wrote, if possible, and make just one. By the way, listen to the sound carefully! I noticed on some rs32 obvious distortion on high quiet sounds (most likely due to the fact that the sound is 8 bitny.. or again the sound player is behaving like this). mor> leave only hardware gigascreen emulation, is this standard? I would prefer a naked Pentagon, with all these gigascreens blinking the way they blink. I think not everyone had it, hardware...

Hello, psb psb> For some reason it seems to me that if you make a picture the size is pal psb> (4:3), if you draw a circle there and look at it on TV, there will be a circle. It’s not at all a fact, for example NTSC 720x480 when played is stretched to 540... But on the other hand, considering that even the authors could have Soviet monitors configured as you like, I'm not even talking about ABC/ACB, these are all trifles.

From elfh To All 11 January 2007

Hello, Daniel dan> Elfh! What bitrate did you use for the video? and how many demos are included? I installed in TMPGenc; 2; pass variable bitrate (max 9000) and motion search precision with highest quality - with these settings the press takes the longest, but The quality/volume ratio is also very good. Dem 9 and another 500 MB free left, considering that our Microcosm takes 40 minutes. Here are the data for 6 minute Inmost Sun; video; 250MB, sound in wav 96MB. Menu creation and final I haven't done any mastering yet. Yes, I didn't turn on gigascreen.
