Russian layout in WinME console windows.

From Valerij Kozhevnikoff To All 27 April 2004

Hello, All! The subject is covered. Temporarily screwed the keyrus... It closed in a very strange way - everything worked without problems, suddenly when switching to Russian (RCtrl+RShift) Windows began to show BSOD. Invalid opcode, sort of. I was surprised, rebooted, tinkered with the settings - everything seemed to be in place. When the next reboot I manage to notice something about Invalid syntax and display.sys, there is no Russian layout in console windows. I dug into the registry - no hints about the line device=display.sys or similar didn't find it. Nothing is clear. Windows stores layout settings here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetControlNlsCodepage Nothing more is known... Yes there is nothing there you can say. Then I killed the locale settings in the specified registry branch and recreated it again, rebooted - Windows could not depict a word in Russian AT ALL (even in GUI windows and file paths and names)! I cured it by simply restoring the registry from a backup - scanregw.exe /restore. Five Windows remembers the latest copies of the registry (it makes backups daily) and offers choice. But I wonder where it died? And how to treat if he dies again? I remember that I climbed into config.sys the old fashioned way and wrote there the same thing that was there usually at 98. After this, Windows reported that it took these lines of mine from there and put it in the register. I'll have to look with regmon where. Greetings, Valerij! Once, Valerij Kozhevnikoff wrote to All about: Russian layout in console WinME windows. It was 27-Apr-04 VK> HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESystemCurrentControlSetControlNlsCodepage I use ruslat95 and am very glad, there you can switch encodings to the right ctrl, and put a different encoding on the left one. If anyone needs yaverts under Windows, I can learn it in echo, it’s small, and there’s an editor for it. Best regards, Roman.

Hello Roman! Tue, 11 May 04 at 11:13, Roman Alexandrov -> Valerij Kozhevnikoff: VK>> no hints on the line device=display.sys RA> Display.sys has nothing to do with the keyboard. So, you explain this to Windows. It thinks that since the display driver is not loaded, This means that there cannot be any other characters other than English on the screen. And The keyboard russifier obviously doesn’t load, because why would it then. During Windows 98, I changed the video bios to a Russified one, everything related to I erased dysplay.sys from the config and it worked. Even the fierce SVGA text ones modes like 132x60 were Russian without any drivers. Now M$ has ruined everything.
