modems are different...

From Eugene Palenock To All 27 July 2004

Hello All! Which modems fit these conditions: - defining no_dialtone (or line_in_use) without grabbing the handset; - Voice; - V92/V44; - good V34; - USB (or PCI, but so that the LEDs are displayed on the face of the computer!); - many LEDs (rd, sd, arq, cd, oh, cs, tr at least); Best regards, Evgeniy.

With iron transformer and iron relay. 3) Meets Soviet standards in the field of communications. 4) V34 is enough. 5) Fax, Voice, etc. - not necessary. No light bulbs needed. 6) *NO GLITCHES* 7) absence of any drivers. 8) connection quality is averagely lousy (if step 6 is performed) 9) cheap. 10) reachable. ?

Hello Kirill! 04 Aug 04 15:07, Kirill Frolov -> Eugene Palenock: KF> 1) internal only, PCI only. KF> 7) absence of any drivers. All points are there, except 7. It is impossible to have a PCI device without drivers (unless choose exactly the modem for which the firewood is already built into Windows) Best regards, Evgeniy.

The only thing is that it's plug and play becomes a must. There are such modems, they are visible in the system as a regular COM port, only perhaps with an unusual address. Driver, of course it can be included included, not needed. And in Windows there is a driver for everything. Even on a mouse pad. But you have to understand that one is different from the other. In this case, the "driver" functions performs the standard serial port driver, and other functions drivers - TAPI interface, there is no way around this. Actually that's not the point. The point is, there's a lot of stuff for sale. obscenity practically unsuitable for practical use. A server burned through a modem, or installed by a crooked driver is no good. I look from this position.

It may not be needed, but it won't work without it :) As a matter of fact, not even a single PCI card with additional COM and LPT ports does not work without drivers from the manufacturer (although it is recognized), with hard PCI modems are the same story. Happy connections. Roman.

I recommend that you both read the article on ixbt “Are there “hardware” PCI modems and Do they need drivers for Windows? The exact name is, the url, unfortunately, has not been preserved. possible: http://ixbt.com/comm/mdmabout2.html or .shtml, or .shtml.html... If you have read it, then your argument is completely incomprehensible to me... WBR, Oleg.

As far as I understood from reading this article (maybe not entirely attentive), These same modems are still without dancing with a tambourine and additional fossils do not work. Happy connections. Roman.
