Internet will double in price
Following the RTKomm.Ru company, the two largest Russian
provider - Golden Telecom and MTU-Intel will increase
prices on the wholesale Internet traffic market, Kommersant reports.
Companies are going to charge for sent
domestic Russian traffic per gigabyte, not based on
fixed monthly payments.
According to the providers themselves, the previous model led to
situations when, at a wholesale price for 1 gigabyte of traffic (with
connection in Moscow) at 5-20 dollars, final Moscow
the user in his office or home received the same gigabyte for
price 50-120 dollars. Providers hope that new business
the model will make prices “more transparent and understandable.”
According to the owner of the site "Independent Review of Providers"
Alexander Militsky, the new rules will inevitably lead to
increasing prices for Internet access. "User costs for
receipt of the same volume of services will increase, and for
some categories of subscribers may grow by one and a half to two times,"
- noted Alexander Militsky.
Experts believe that the new tariff policy of large
companies will lead to increased costs for small and medium-sized companiesoperators for traffic. Thus, increasing inter-operator costs
prices will be allowed by MTU-Intel, Golden Telecom and RTKomm.Ru
continue to push small operators out of the market. If he grows up
price from primary providers, this will most likely get the job done
small companies are less profitable and will allow the top three to increase
companies their market share, which currently stands at 47
percent.
