Scientists succeeded set a new record for Internet connection speed: data volume 6.7 gigabytes were transferred over a distance of 10.978 kilometers (from the city Sunnyvale in the USA to the Dutch capital Amsterdam) in less than one minute ─ 963 megabits per second. This is 3.5 thousand times faster than standard broadband connection. 6.7 gigabytes corresponds to approximately two DVD-quality videos. The data was transmitted through a specialized a scientific network called Internet2, which, by the way, we have already written about. Let us remind you that this network is supported jointly by more than about 200 universities all over the world.
