Distinguish between a specific modem type XTR, Vicomm, C-DOS makes no sense - they are _COMPATIBLE_. But incompatible software is used -- These are MMD and EMS which have incompatible file transfer protocols. Then the question arises, what to do if the system runs on V.?? protocol and a Vicomm-compatible modem at the same time? IMHO there is only one way out - have 2 different addresses. I recommend that sysops consider the issue of minimum connection speed and ZMH! Is it necessary, is it not necessary, what should it be, etc...
