*Hello, All!*
The clouds gradually diverged in opposite directions, clearing the sky
a clean strip through which the sun immediately peeked out and began to get hot
crown. I put on the hood of an old washed and faded "encephalitis" and
looked at the surface of the water. The river flow was leisurely, but clearly overtook
a boat, the oars of which were thrown over the side rails* and only with the tips of the blades
touched the surface of the water.
In my hands I held a spinning rod with 3-12 grams of dough. Lightweight spinner
parrot-colored, whistling, flew to the right bank, pulling
a spring of thin fishing line. Plopping into the murky water, and lifting up the thin
a trickle of water, the spinner did not sink to the bottom very quickly, but suddenly twitched
side of the boat and, spinning like a top, flew close to the water surface,
carried away by the force of the spinning reel.
Lyokha-Driver**, who was sitting on the bank*** opposite me, was doing what
dragged the sticky fish onto the float tackle I hastily constructed from
spinning donkeys. The bait was “swift guys”, that is, maggots. I'm still
shot a spoon in the hope that at least the slightest bad perch would land on it or
little chub. But in vain. The muddy water hid not only the river bottom, but also everything
what was above him...
Cars and tents appeared on the left bank. Again these "kebabs"who with their easy behavior, loudness and “drenched balls” always lead
pretending to be our brother fisherman. What can we do? Between Kamenka and Nizhny Selo
there is a good access to the river and a road that runs calmly along the bank
over a distance of several hundred meters. All kinds of evil spirits are packed into this place in
weekends, then leaving behind mountains of garbage, the lion's share of which is
vodka or beer bottles.
- Well, maybe we’ll hit the “ears” **** so as not to be too much for this crowd
free entertainment, and at the same time to get to Pirogov***** faster? -
I ask Lyokha, untying the spinner, and tying the dark one with blue-red-yellow
metallic painted sides wobbler in the form of a skinny fish with a meaningful
nicknamed Breadwinner******.
“Go ahead,” says Lyokha, but his intonation clearly shows annoyance. More
would! I went rafting for the first time, and I couldn’t take my eyes off the float. And here
I'll have to wind up the fishing rods.
Having unsuccessfully abandoned the Breadwinner a couple of times, I put my spinning rod along the stern,
I take away the tackle from Lyokha, do the same with it and unhook the oars from the rails.
Turning my back to the direction of travel, I begin to row. The boat is picking up speed
and now it’s briskly rushing down the river. As Lyokha said - at speed six
kilometers per hour. I don’t argue with him, even from the fact that he isa driver with good experience and probably knows how to determine the speed at
peephole."
Topoliny Island looms in front. The first in the Nizhneselsky Archipelago,
consisting of either five or eight islands. But in my opinion, they are in
several times more. It’s impossible to calculate their exact number.
possible, since although the large islands stand in their places, they are small
forever, year after year, they run back and forth along the river, then disappear, then appear again. B
It's easy to get lost on these islands, and sometimes it seems to me that this place is no less
more mysterious than the notorious Bermuda triangle. According to legend, somewhere in this
hidden in the archipelago is the Channel of Love, narrow and deep, above which there are branches
trees created a kind of tunnel. The entrance to the flow opens only truly
lovers, and only once in a life, when he and she raft together on the river
by boat. They say that in this secluded corner of the river time stops, and even
Nature leaves those who raft alone with themselves. But suddenly he appears
a great revelation, the secret of which they keep all their happy lives until
old age itself and take it with them to the next world, even there remaining truly faithful
each other.
Well, it’s too early for me to enter this channel, if only because my love (let
even an ex, but still the same) - fisherman Olya ******* stayed at home this time. Ainstead of her there is a third one, that is Lyokha. He is now sitting and grinning maliciously,
clearly inventing something vulgar about this.
To the left of the island, on the shore, there are a bunch of cars and tents. The barbecue fires are burning,
low-grade chanson sounds from the car radio, a bunch of cheerful "dupers"
They stare at us and seem to be trying to shout “bread and circuses!” But the right one
The channel from the island beckons with its coziness and seclusion. That's where I
I direct the boat, warning Lyokhy about possible dangers.
And there are three of them - branches hanging low above the water, shallows and a fast current that does not give
deftly maneuver. I remembered a former river rafting trip, where, due to inexperience, I climbed into
a narrow channel, the width of the boat, from which I had to crawl out,
barely squeezing under an alder trunk sticking out horizontally from the bank and
low to the water. And then he ran into the branches.
- Behind! - Lyokha shouted late, but I had already received enough clicks on the back of my head, and
then he took the blow too.
The oars rattled along the day. Rocky shoal. The width of the channel made it possible
move left and right, but not much - only about five meters there and
back. Having dodged the shallows, I again ran into the branches. It caught the spinning rods, but
they stayed in the boat. Damn!
- Look where it's going! - Lyokha shouted and the boat hit the shore of the island. I
pushed off from it with an oar and suddenly saw that there was only one left to the end of the islandsome thirty meters. But at the end of the channel, turning sharply to the left,
driftwood could be seen, this time sticking straight out of the water, and hanging over them
dry branches of an alder tree turned upside down from the bank. I didn’t even have time to swing the oars when
the jet suddenly threw me into this trap. At the very last moment it was possible
move the boat away from the snags sticking out of the water, but the overhanging branches flew over
with our heads bent at once, and caught my spinning rod, on which it was hanging
Breadwinner. He was immediately torn off the fishing line and fell into the water.
- Breadwinner! - I screamed in horror and despair, and with all my strength I pressed
oars, this time backing up. The current immediately entered into a fight with me,
increasing the distance between me and my favorite wobbler. But adrenaline was already pumping through
veins and the boat, suddenly stopping, slowly but surely went against
running water.
The breadwinner swayed peacefully and without emotion next to one of the driftwood, to which
he was pressed by the current. And now he has already been picked up by Lyokhin’s hand and is now lying in
in a safe place - on a bucket of food. I almost cry with joy. More
would! The value of this cheap Chinese wobbler is enormous for me...
/rails/ - special ropes on the sides of the boat, by which you can hold it and carry it
by land;
** /Lyokha-Driver/ - friend, childhood friend, author of "folk" jokes and
great traveler-truck driver;
*** /bank/ - a seat in a boat (marine term);**** /yshi/ - oars on a boat (rustic);
***** /Pirogi/ - a cheerful, eccentric family that owns a dacha right on the shore
rivers in Nizhny Selo. They received their nickname by analogy with their surname, which has
as a root word that is synonymous with the bakery of the same name
product. The Pirogs planned to dig up worms and beg for something
delicious.
****** /Breadwinner/ - a wobbler slightly battered by time and pike teeth,
once played a cruel joke on the Notikhin chubs. They were pulled out on him
in one morning as many as seven pieces, for which the wobbler received its nickname. Feature
The breadwinner lies in a jammed rattle, which began to rattle extremely
bad, but apparently very attractive to predatory fish.
******* /Fisherman Olya/ - my friend, who lived in Kamchatka as a child and carried
in the rivers there are huge salmon and sockeye salmon, and far surpassed our local
fishing men by catch.
