Hello, moroz1999
mor> R-Type?
And if you look the other way around, take the same zynaps, exolon, myth,
on other platforms it's just mediocre junk, but on spec it's a playable masterpiece.
well, r-type too, no matter where I see it, nothing interesting, it’s wild
playable classic. It seems to me that zx is so limited in capabilities,
that people had to seriously think about how to make everything cool in the sense
code and graphics, and the result was masterpieces.
On other platforms, high resolution, graph processors, music processors, and it seems like
cool, but it turned out to be a standard arcade game.

By the way, do not forget that on every gaming platform, standard tools

usually done almost from scratch, hence the variety of approaches, hence the games
kind of the same genre, not similar to each other :)

You misunderstood what I wanted to say, no one praises the Spectrum, it
without this, a car that has survived many others.
Just look at the same R-type on other machines, but the graphics quality is much better
better, scrolled smoother, but not interesting, banal arcade game.
Or look at zynaps on Amstrad, exolon and myth on Amiga, cooler graphics, and play

Hello new art
the discussion devolves into praising Spekkov's toys..."all from scratch", etc.
Complete nonsense! especially regarding r-type...it looked like on other platforms
no worse. And many games, incl. and those listed here, and in other topics
forum, were released simultaneously for a bunch of platforms, and then it’s a matter of taste.
and I repeat once again, some ports from Atari and Commodore on Spec look
just WORSE (apparently they re-tightened it from scratch)

yes... I re-read the thread again and completely lost my mind... except that
we can give several counter-examples of games that could be ported to
Speck, and probably would have become hits... but for some reason they didn’t carry over... and that’s the point
not in additional chips of the same Atari... it just so happened... some of the games mentioned in this

Hello new art
It might make sense to set up a system for selling Spectrum games via the Internet.
For example, some small demo version is made, studied on
there is a demand for it on the forum. Pre-orders are being collected from Spectrum
community, based on these requests, the feasibility of the project is assessed.
When the game is ready, you can send information letters to email addresses
customers. The customer sends money to the creators (for example, by sending
SMS to a specific number), after which he receives the game by mail or a link,
where can you download it from? Maybe such a system will not bring fabulous profits,
but at least somehow compensates for the costs of the creators for real
quality games.

Hello new art
new> Let's go point by point, first I will express my assessment, then you will give yours.

That's precisely because the graphics capabilities are different - the Spectrum one looks
less winning (levels, sprite). Unfortunately, you can’t jump above your head and
You can't overcome Spectrum limitations with attribute graphics. But still in
within the capabilities of the Spectrum, the game is undoubtedly made at the highest level and in a number of ways
parameters exceeds the Dendev version. For example, a demo version of Mario from Omega
It didn’t cause anything other than nausea, but here everything is great. And the final cut in general
masterpiece. In general, the game can be safely put on a par with such domestic
hits like "Black Raven" and "Star Legacy", all these games are made in
different genres, but they are united by the fact that they are performed at the highest level.

Hello, R.S.
RS> Newart, tell me, how much do you estimate spent on the game
RS> resources? And was there any monetary profit from the game?
All graphics were converted, drawn, animated, modeled by 1 person: Surfin Bird
I coded.
More than 5 people worked on the music.
Three people were involved in the translation to varying degrees.
The game was started in the summer of 2002, in August 2003 it was presented at Cafe 2003
demo version that took first place - the prize was a diploma and an amount of around 500 rubles (for
a third compensated for tickets to Kazan :)
The game was made in several stages. In 2003, it was done with great difficulty, there were
moments when I or the artist gave up everything and decided that the release would not happen.
But thanks to two strong incentives (Cafe2003 and New Year), the game was successful
release into the world. Unfortunately, the Deluxe version remains on disk.
It featured 20 more levels, some new graphics and music.
I also didn’t have enough passion for the TAP release. :(

I estimate the Fire and Ice port (objectively) at $2000, the operating time is one and a half months.
(8-10 hours work day). The original game costs one and a half times more.
I have some doubts that from the forum and the Specov community as a whole
It’s realistic to raise at least $1000. (even for example for ZH2)
