Freaks in BASIC

From Konstantin Zhukov To All 25 April 2006

Hello, All A long time ago, in a very distant galaxy, in a very small city. programming wars raged. Inspired by ideas from "How to Write a Game for ZX-Spectrum" we made several interesting games in BASIC. None of us dreamed of ever sending these games to the masses. But, taking this opportunity, I want to show these creations to the world. The attachment contains the following games: DOOM-I is the author of LINE SOFT, of my codes there is only an elevator (my first procedure!). When the Spectrum fell into our hands, the first thing that caught our eye was the lack for the coolest platform (for 95) in the world of games - DOOM. We tried our best correct this deficiency. Control keys - cursor without caps shift. DOOM-II - A much later version. The engine (ha ha ha) is accelerated and Numerous bugs of the first DOOM have been fixed. Author - SKILL MASTER, 1998. CHI DAY STORY - A remake of a little-known toy of the same name on DENDY. There were 2 more and 3 parts, but they have sunk into oblivion. Authors: SKILL MASTER, LINE SOFT, 1996. GUN FORCE - the adventures of a brave pilot of the KA-50 combat helicopter. to you will have to destroy first the V-2 missiles, and then the enemy tanks coming to Moscow. Russian text looks clumsy in some places if you don't have Quorum ROM firmware. Control keys - cursor without caps shift, QAOP SPACE. Authors: RISK SOFT, SKILL MASTER, 1996.ZANKE - another remake with DENDY. You have to destroy the space station. Authors: RISK SOFT, SKILL MASTER, 1996. If anyone has similar games written in BASIC or its dialects, don’t hesitate, post it! It's interesting to see who started where. Hello, boo_boo I can’t help but note that DooM2 rules! :) Basik foreva!

From Konstantin Zhukov To All 26 April 2006

Hello Surfin' Bird Sur> Basik foreva! Basik will show himself yet. I have a toy that combines codes and basic, called "Bobik". A working version of the game is already ready. If bugsy helps with sprites, then it will finally be cool.

From Andrey Baglay To All 27 April 2006

Hello Sinus Glory! You better research, distill and publish Lamerz Windows. This is it there will be a hit prog on bass

From Slavik Tretiak To All 27 April 2006

Hello, Jukov To be honest, I didn’t understand the trick of Doom. Well, some kind of corridor. Well, there is an elevator. Well, monsters appear. where are the labyrinths? where are some keys? not interesting.

From TomCaT To All 27 April 2006

Hello, Jukov Oh, what a unique program on Vasik, my disk drive paired with a color one they ruined the TV... And why did I put in the unsealed one :mad; A; from what has survived: there are a couple of developments, seemingly improved Spruts from "How to write... ZX" (octopuses always move towards the player, and the landscape and submariners are completely random); then “Shooting” - the shooting of falling figures seen on “pocket tetris” from cubes (also improved, very tight rules); and finally a masterpiece: "Air Combat", based on the board game of the same name, where ten fighters and six bombers are fighting in marches to destroy the headquarters. Entirely in Vasik (except for the SCREEN$ operator extension code for the purpose recognition of UDG characters too), although even at the headquarters and its defeat The pseudographics and beeps are quite well chosen. There are options with ground rocket and machine gun batteries and without them. But AI is not there :( When I get to the archives, I'll post it here.

Hello Sinus Sin> to be honest, I didn’t understand the trick of Doom. Sin> well, some kind of corridor. Well, there is an elevator. well, monsters appear. Sin> where are the labyrinths? where are some keys? not interesting. You understand, these were our first programs. We didn't even have a controller disk drives I got it six months after writing DOOM-2. At Line The soft tape recorder malfunctioned so that the probability of successful recording was 30%. U There was no Risk Soft tape recorder at all. He wrote programs in a small notebook in cell, and then gave them to me, because... I was the only one in our group whom the tape recorder could normally record and read information. But I'm for the tape recorder also had to fight with my sister, who listened to her favorite cassettes. There could be no question of any keys. And the trick of all these prog is that although they are primitive and unplayable, they gave us the opportunity express yourself and establish yourself.

Hello new art Interesting idea with DOOM. There was such a game LABIRINTUS, and so it was also 3D the graphics were implemented using lines (wall contours), very good looked. It was written almost in pure BASIC. If interested, I can try to find it on a cassette and transmit it (in wav format).

From TomCaT To All 10 May 2006

Hello, Arigato Somewhere I came across this particular labyrinth in BASIC... On tzxvault, or something...

From Alexey Valerievich Akatov To All 10 May 2006

Hello, Arigato And here I found LABIRINTUS, which I was talking about. No need to pay attention Please note the copyrights, they are not mine, I was just kidding. http://fsaver.hut1.ru/users/arigato/labirintus.zip Here is another interesting toy (with the authorship - also not mine): http://fsaver.hut1.ru/users/arigato/siege.zip

From Alexey Valerievich Akatov To All 10 May 2006

Hello, Arigato Game "Cockroach Race". Made by me based on a similar game described in one from magazines. However, unlike that game, this version is graphical. http://fsaver.hut1.ru/users/arigato/tarakan.zip

From Alexey Valerievich Akatov To All 10 May 2006

Hello TomCaT http://fsaver.hut1.ru/users/arigato/dictator.zip Political strategy Dictator. I recommend it to anyone who hasn't played this wonderful game. don't delay! In my opinion, this game is the best for ZX. Written almost entirely in BASIC (not by me), but I wrote a little something there edited. The fact that my copyright is indicated - do not pay attention, I had such a fashion back then :)

From Konstantin Zhukov To All 10 May 2006

Hello, Arigato Labirint is a very advanced version of the 3D engine, although the thin walls are confusing. There are no massacres. Siege is a very funny toy. But gentlemen, Is there really nothing of your own?
