Hello transman No one has anything yet :) And if you seriously want to make YOUR OWN JRPG, write to me;) Just be prepared produce a lot of literary text :) (I’m talking about the script, which is in its infancy condition)

From Tsuranov Vladimir To All 14 February 2006

Hello new art Hmm. It seems like everything died down, but they talked for a bunch of pages :( An engine on a spec a la Final Fantasy 3(j), 4(j), and perhaps even 5(j) is possible no problem, although 6(j) would be better... Even with scrolling, although familiar, but it looks very good. Why am I... If anyone has converted graphics, post them here, or for soap. I'll also accept the script to read.

From Surfin' Bird To All 27 February 2006

Hello, rasmer ras> well, not necessarily two - I’ve also seen multi-colored ones... everyone (colored ras> and black and white) have their pros and cons... black and white has a pixel-by-pixel ratio, ras> a colored person has beauty... although it won’t necessarily be black and white ras> pixel by pixel... I agree. But the question of conversion remains in both cases :) axo> I-I. What happened? :) Nothing (yet ;) ) has happened :) And you have more important things to do :) In general, today I saw a great JRPG engine! Spekovsky, of course. So the engine issue can be safely considered closed, resolved positively and not causing concern. (Basically, at the time I opened the topic, he was already like this, and now - 100%). But this doesn’t matter, because... there are only 3 pages of the script (oh :D), graphics - several sprites (oh-yo :D), free time - not a minute, money for the screenwriter, accordingly, - not a ruble :) So the question of the game remains open

Hello Surfin' Bird Well... about the sea of engines, you probably got excited? :) Although, depending on what you are you call it an engine... Another version of “pixel by pixel acquaintance” scrolling? Then you're probably right. I (and I think most) have several other ideas about the game engine. Regarding graphics conversion. Before I speak, I tried... what It turned out you can see it in the attachment. This is certainly not FF6 (on CHEC). :) But quite decent by Spectrum standards. Especially considering that these are direct sprites from HES (naturally without color information), without additional processing. I think If you tinker a little, it will turn out better. Hello, ng_dead Of the more or less worthy developments, I saw only one :) in the appendix to some kind of periodical. I think the guys from Vladivostok did it. But with script... there are also problems there :) What can your engine do?

From Nikolay Gribeshchenko To All 27 February 2006

Hello Surfin' Bird I'm glad that we have the same ideas about "engines". :) Sur> Or maybe he’s scrolling a tile map (by location, obviously), Sur> animated leader, animated Persians who walk and wander Sur> back and forth, obeying a script or random, “entering” Sur> citiesdungeonslocations. And all this in amazing color Sur> image, accompanied by awesome music :) In short, rulez! And where can you see this miracle? Sur> And finally, I see that you are actively writing on this topic ;) Come on Sur> write a script! :D  :D Join the group of maniacs Sur> jrpgists-spectrumists - the most maniacal on the spec! :D I believe that the script should be written based on the capabilities of the engine...

Hello, ng_dead ng_> Well... about the sea of engines, you probably got excited? :) By Spec's standards - and 4 pieces is a sea ;) ng_> Although, depending on what you call the engine... Another option ng_> "pixel by pixel by acquaintance" scrolling? Then you're probably right. U ng_> I (yes, I think the majority) have slightly different ideas about ng_> "engine" of the game. An engine is a program that you feed graphics, scripts, dialogues, twist it a little, shake it up, and you get a game :) (Definition taken from Surfin' Bird's smart head :D ) For example - the Wolf2004 engine - you give him sprites, textures and maps, and he gives you - Wolf2005:) ng_> Regarding graphics conversion. Before I speak, I ng_> I tried... you can see what happened in the attachment. This is of course ng_> not FF6 (on CHEC). :) But quite decent by Spectrum standards. ng_> Especially considering that these are direct sprites from HES (naturally without ng_> color information), without additional processing. I think if I tinker a little, ng_> it will turn out better. What does "by Spectrum standards" mean? Spectrum measurements - wider and wider than any day and day :) And vapche, you're right, if you tinker, it will be cooler. Just not a little, but an hour somewhere :) ng_> Of the more or less worthy developments, I saw only one :) in the application ng_> to some “periodical”. I think the guys from Vladivostok did it. But with ng_> script... there are also problems there :)Whoa! The script is everything! ng_> What can your engine do? Forget me! This is not my engine! Well, I'm not a programmer  I won’t say whose engine it is. This is the author's privilege! Or maybe he (at first glance, because for the reasons mentioned above I didn’t go into the interior) - scrolling tile map (by location, obviously), animated leader, animated Persians who walk and wander back and forth, obeying a script or randomly, “entering” cities and dungeons. And all this in amazing color image, accompanied by awesome music :) In short, rules! I really want to live again! (Blah, sit down for a script or something?) And finally, I see that you are actively writing on this topic ;) Come on, write a script! :D  :D Join the group of jrpgist-spectrumist maniacs - the most maniacal on spec! :D

Hello, ng_dead ng_> And where can you watch this miracle? I'll ask. But this is already in PM  ng_> I believe that the script should be written based on the possibilities ng_> engine... No, you are wrong here. I already answered a similar question from Axor: you can do anything push the script into any engine, at least approximately suitable in meaning. And in this case - finally lafa - the author is alive and functioning :D So. even if If you write something that is not in the engine, it will still be there! ;) And finally - the engine capabilities of all JRPGs a la FF are the same, and they exist at this one. What else do you need for happiness besides a script?!?

From Nikolay Gribeshchenko To All 28 February 2006

Hello Surfin' Bird So what? Do you need a screenwriter or what? Soap in a soap dish :)

From Nikolay Gribeshchenko To All 28 February 2006

Hello Surfin' Bird Sur> No, you are wrong here. I have already answered a similar question from Axor: it is possible Sur> push any script into any engine, at least approximately Sur> suitable in meaning. No, I am convinced that a GOOD script can ONLY be written based on engine capabilities. Example: in the same FF there is such a feature - transport (ships, chocobos, etc.) Let’s say they are in the script, but they can’t be implemented in the engine seems possible... Another example: the possibility of restricting freedom moving the player according to the storyline... I can write a script tied to such a scheme, but it won’t be in the engine... sad. It's good if: Sur> the author is alive and functioning :D What if (God forbid!) he gets tired of this activity? Sur> And finally - the engine capabilities of all JRPGs a la FF are the same, and Sur> this one has them. What else do you need for happiness besides a script?!? Finally, for COMPLETE happiness, you need to connect me with the author of the engine on the subject “look” (at least screenshots), an accurate description of the engine’s capabilities, optional: description of the script and map format (preferably clear, for availability I don't even hope for editors :) ) And in general, it would be nice to talk to the author... Why is he hiding? :)

From Surfin' Bird To All 28 February 2006

Hello axor Oftopic! -...I always knew that Axor rules!...

From Surfin' Bird To All 28 February 2006

Hello, ng_dead ng_> No, I am convinced that a GOOD script can ONLY be written ng_> based on the capabilities of the engine. Example: in the same FF there is such a feature - ng_> transport (ships, chocobos, etc.) Let's say they are in the script, but in ng_> it is not possible to implement this in the engine... You tell the coder: “Brother! Let’s insert this and that, it will be really cooler for this reason and for this reason..." And he interjects. This is game development, oh my :) ng_> Another example: the possibility of limiting the player’s freedom of movement in ng_> according to the storyline... I can write a script tied ng_> on such a scheme, but it won’t be in the engine... sad. Yes, this is the basic plot development scheme for quest-vpgs :) It cannot but exist! (Otherwise, see previous statement) ng_> What if he (God forbid!) gets tired of this activity? If, if... I don't know many coders who get bored, but I know screenwriters and such artists :) ng_> Finally, for COMPLETE happiness, you need to connect me with the author of the engine ng_> for the item “look” (at least screenshots), exact description ng_> engine capabilities, optional: description of script format and map ng_> (preferably intelligible, I don’t even hope for editors :) ) But this is in vain :) The editor is obliged to do so. And it will be. Moreover, Axor has already released map editor, and I’m sure he won’t be able to remake it for any format stuck...ng_> And in general, it would be nice to talk with the author... Well, he ng_> is he hiding? :) He doesn’t hide, but condescendingly looks down on you and me :) For we are we chat, and he does it ;) In general, if you are hooked on ZXJRPG construction - write to soap - we'll get in touch.

From Alexander Shushkov To All 28 February 2006

Hello Surfin' Bird Sur> But this is in vain :) The editor is obliged to do so. And it will be. Moreover, Axor Sur> has already released a map editor, and it needs to be remade for any format Sur> I'm sure it won't be a shame... Of course it’s not a shame. Moreover, the release of a new version of Maper is already planned (1.5), but this is after finishing work on the game. It is also planned to do the same a more universal program for creating and editing tile maps. Well special We will make a version without any plan.

Hello, ng_dead ng_> So what? Do you need a screenwriter or what? Soap in a soap dish :) If “soapbox” means my mailbox, then I’ll answer as soon as I get home (or tomorrow morning :)).
