Hello, All
I remember by the end of the 90s, many coders tried to create 3D games. But before
Not many reached the final realization. The first was Return to Home-4, then Last
Hero of The Light Force. In fact, the games caused complete disappointment, since
There was no smell of any three-dimensionality in them. We, in our city of Zapendrauisk, too
then we didn’t sit idly by, and here’s a small demo of the engine for 3D
real-time strategy games. Shuffle control keys - cursor.
Works only at 128K!

The difference between Doom and Quake is that in Quake the viewing angles are not
limited. It is on this basis that they are classified differently. And what in
no one denies that the formulas for three-dimensional transformations were applied.

Hello,GriV
Gri> what was presented above is not PSEUDO - it is exactly three-dimensional
Gri> picture, pseudo-three-dimensional, this is akin to Nether Earth, HeroQuest, etc.
Gri>
Pseudo-three-dimensional according to PC classification. Let's say Doom and Wolf on PC
are defined as pseudo-3D, and Quake and Half Life as 3D.

Hello, Jukov
Nope, like Doom and Wolf it's Wolfstain 2004
And this is just pseudo-3D according to Spec’s classification, like Lasthiro and Bloodvich
There, too, you walk through the same labyrinths and they are drawn in one set
sprites. The only difference from the two mentioned is that there is also a diagonal
viewing direction.
In principle, xests and first-person games can be made on such an engine and
looks pretty good. And the playability is better than the unforgettable Bard's
tale? even better than Bloodvich, but it needs a good script and a good
implementation of a system of rules for pumping and combat.
Are there any outcomes?

Hello,GriV
I myself understood that it means that in the specified sample the rendering is sprite-based
not volumetric.

Doom 1/2 is completely one-story - one floor above another cannot be there
settle down. There are no ramps or stairs in Wolfenstein 3D - that's all
The premises are located on the same level.

Hello,GriV
Three-dimensional is where graphics are made of polygons. And in Wolf and Duma there are only sprites.
That's why it's pseudo-3d, and Quake is 3D. And here's another quote from the FAQ:
> Finally, Quake gives (compared to DooM and Duke3D):
> 1) three-dimensionality in the construction of the level, inclined walls and floors,
> multi-storey, etc.;
> 2) monsters are built from polyhedra with textures stretched on them
> sprites are used nowhere or almost nowhere, which makes it possible
> correctly visualize objects when looking at them under any
> angles;
> 3) distortion disappears at large pitch angles, at maximum angles
> pitch, the vertical line falls into the field of view, i.e. perhaps
> see what is directly above your head and under your feet;
> 4) there are moving objects (transporters floating in the air
>, etc.), and they move both vertically and
> horizontal plane;
> 5) there is water, and you can swim in it, and there is under water
> strange and beautiful effect of wave-like swaying of the image.

As promised, I’m revealing to you the secrets of constructing a three-dimensional image in my
engine. To begin with, just theory, later I will post examples of programs for creating
sprites.

amaze everyone with just such an engine!!! but counting the memory costs even do
didn't. although you can shamelessly reduce the viewing depth of the corridor...
and you had enough patience. I'm proud of you!!!
