The programmer's manual (page 4) for TurboSound FM says:
"YM2612 on Sega Genesis clocked at 4 MHz"
IMHO WRONG!
in SEGA Genesis (on large “honest” chips) frequency 7.600489MHz
Formed in theory by dividing the main frequency by 7
oscillator(53.203424MHz)
but in general it should be 7.670454MHz (see diagrams of Yamaha synths from the Japs)
but they set it to 8MHz - because such quartzes are close to the above frequencies and are very
common :P
