It will turn out completely “wrong”. Sid is essentially an almost full-fledged synthesizer, and AY

Hello Jerry

This requires an Atari ST with timer interrupts... Or something like that
Turbo sound with support for multiple hardware switches with high frequency
stored "states" (AY registers).
The only music I know that sounds better on the Speck than on the chest of drawers - in
Thundercats toy. Also quite good in comparison are Marauder and Platoon.

5. POSSIBLE IMPROVEMENTS CP1.01.
- writing a PLUG-IN for HD - it will be already
in one of the following versions (CP1.0X);
- interpolation and filtering of samples;
- support for HRUST-packed modules;
- organization of PLAYLIST;
- MS-DOS support;
- introduction of hints;
- adding an error handler;
- writing new PLUG-INs;
- it may be possible to support other melodies
formats (SID, AY Pro Tracker, YM); :v2_eek;
-; correction of existing glitches and inadequacies
statkov.
- improvement of the CP shell.

It seems like our muzakers are constantly sacrificing sound quality for the sake of complexity.
compositions. Moreover, many people have problems with balancing volume levels. B
As a result, the “main party” turns into a knock on the brain with a set of abrupt
sounds.
Or is the whole point that they will write it off in the trackers, but the bourgeois firms wrote it on
synthesizer, and only then adapted for AY (and not only), first of all
trying to ensure similarity of sound rather than musical notation?
IMHO, chip music should generally be written in scripts, not patterns.

The main thing when listening to music from branded games is not to forget to turn on AY, well you should
notice that the music sounds more pleasant in real life. =)
And of course, the acoustics must be appropriate, and not plastic tweeters.
In my opinion, themes from games of that time sound more “adult” or something.
Still, they were not written by schoolchildren (as in our games), but often by already accomplished

However, they often try to “leave” (and harmless “trills” turn into

"melodic" AY will be "bo-bo head" ;)

That's bad! And the beeper itself really has nothing to do with it, the sound has nothing to do with it.
The three main problems of domestic AY music from my (non-musician) point of view:
1. Jerky ringing (trills, staccato dominance, etc.)
2. Poor volume balance (often makes problem 1 worse)
3. Abuse of vibrato/tremolo (when the same thing is constantly buzzing)

IMHO, it’s not a matter of being “big”, but of a rich “beeper” past (not counting
other chips like the same seed) of these characters. Beeper is first and foremost
experiments with sound and mixing.
Has anyone ever actively tormented the beeper? That's it... (Wham is
not serious).
new> Let> IMHO chip music should generally be written in scripts, not
Let> new> patterns.
Let>
Let> What's the difference?
Patamushta “is in the patterns of notes, and in the scripts of frequencies” (this is in addition to the obvious
advantages in compactness and speed). I'm exaggerating a little, of course - discussion
capabilities of tracker editors goes beyond the scope of the topic, but it is clear that they
far from covering all the possibilities for bullying AY. I'll keep quiet about
stupid "player" speed limits "every two or three frames".
new> For example, I’m obsessed with these things:
Wow! And also Beyond the Ice Palace, Chase HQ, Cybernoid 2, Elevator Action, Glider
Rider, Night Breed, Robin ot Wood, Shadow Warriors, Xenophobe, Zub... Right now
I also listened to Mystical from your list... the sound is amazing... and, moreover, how
it's simple...
new> Examples!!
new> Otherwise it looks like nonsense.
So, I was deliberately looking for something more or less famous (second place at CC'04 between
other things). Specifically, the “ringing” is the last 25 seconds (I’m not touching on the rest for now). And
This is still far from the most terrible example! And a bunch of Mouzons are almost entirely
that's how it's written...
Damn, why is it that ours on AY have everything that is not acid - so it is certainly jerkyringing and similar “scattering”? And no one even tried to make anything
like Marauder in-game tune for example. Apparently, what kind of computers were running (perversions
on crumble) - that’s what music is. Conceptual thinking. :)

Well, yes, sometimes they go overboard with this, but after all, ornaments allow you to achieve more
variety of sounds, you can’t go far on one meander, even with slides.
There are trills in bourgeois music too. Only more neat and appropriate.
Our muzakers often lack harmony.
> And no one even tried to build something like Marauder in-game

Mentality certainly plays a certain role, since almost any bourgeois
you'll recognize the track from the first second.
And of course they tried, but mostly they played along with what they were listening to.
In general, the topic is deep and interesting, there will be a website soon, everyone is there
will be able to break away. :)
And the beeper, by the way, has nothing to do with it, even if ours didn’t play around with it, but
all this time was spent studying AY.
But they didn’t write music because they didn’t make games the same as in the West,
because there was already plenty of such music (as well as games).
Let> Patamushta "in the patterns of notes, and in the scripts of frequencies" (this is in additionLet> obvious advantages in compactness and speed).
Do you want to finally turn poor muzakers into programmers? =)
Check out the FXM format, there seemed to be something script-detailed there, but
I’ll note that this didn’t have much effect on the sound and it’s unlikely that those tracks would have been easier to write.

I'm not a musician, but it's offensive to hear this.
And it’s not very fair to compare AY with SID, the latter makes it possible to receive
more or less realistic sound, which AY has never been able to do.
But my situation with AY and SID is the opposite; the sound of SID is often similar to
low-quality MODs (I don’t like them), melodies very rarely cut from mine
Russian soul. =)
AY seems to me to have a more electronic sound and themes that are like family, albeit

Hello, Electrician
kar> do you think it’s very easy to write differently in AU?
And who is having an easy time now? ;) "Less is better" (c)
Point 2 is finally entirely on the conscience of the author (however, the best usually cope)
Point 3 is probably a sign of immaturity. (?) Point 1 (besides the frank
lamerism) - because of an incomprehensible (to me) desire at all costs
overcomplicate the composition by cramming a separate part into each voice. It's better
break it into pieces, and in each emphasize its own theme... but this is purely mine
IMHO.
new> And it’s not very fair to compare AY with SID, the latter makes it possible
new> obtaining more or less realistic sound, which AY has never been able to do.
I'm tired of it. Well, at least it doesn't irritate...
Here is an analogy with the innate ugliness of Spekov graphics - some offices
fought against clashing, perverted in every possible way (Creepsoft, Hewson, Topo, Durell),
others immediately gave up on this matter (Opera, Zigurat, Micro-Gen, often
Codemasters). Some people eat this calmly, some people infuriate... :v2_confu;

AY/ours, AY/firmachis and POKEY/Atari800 (there are too few of them), YM/AtariST (it turned out
not everyone uses timers) and SAA/SAMcoupe, SID. Looks like I'm not russian
Basurman soul ;) (on the other hand, if you remember folk songs, it’s also
the question is what the “real Russian soul” likes :p).

It is precisely because of this that, having listened to AY-compo with, it seems, CC'000, I
I generally stopped paying attention to all the new AY-muson... Plus it slipped
quite often in Spec's electronic magazines that "yes, KSA and Ironman are
very good, but this sound is outdated,” and then it is proposed to do it “in a new way” -
more acid, pseudodelays, etc. People don't seem to understand that KSA's music and
Ironman, IMHO, was the ideal of AY sound - yes, somewhere simple, but very
nice.

like this: http://ifolder.ru/785557
Sometimes it is useful to listen to such things just to understand that neither AY, nor SID, nor

This is a completely natural evolutionary process.
It is enough to trace the creativity for example: Imp'a, Ironman'a, D-Joice, Mmcm,
Key-Jee, Push. And Ksa? So he simply didn’t have time to move to the next level and quit.

I advise you to download VT, disassemble other people's music and try to write your own.
And communicate more with musicians. Everyone has their own path, but you make EVERYONE equal, I

Yes, by the way, regarding the unusual sound on AY - “Psevdo-Digital” ninety
Shaggy year in terms of interesting sounding has not yet been surpassed IMHO. And what's the most
the main thing is that it is very good as music... :v2_walkm:

Exactly? Here is an archive, there is music from 97 (and a little from 96 and 98).

I suspect that such a sit is quite capable (in extreme cases, it’s enough
DualSID, not to mention SIDstation). On AY for voice defects it’s simply not
that's enough (I don't know about TS). But you can probably try to “deceive” your ears...

new> Everyone has their own path, but you make EVERYONE equal, I would say even lower them.
The path is different, but the direction has been the same lately. Although the same acid now
has become more interesting - less “flat” or something. But it doesn’t matter when everything is the same and
the same thing - it gets boring. And I didn’t “equal” “everyone”; I wrote primarily about purely
technical flaws in sound in “average” AY-muson, not in the best (which are
not enough).new> Regarding Debugger, I can say that a person has no muses

The issue is not with Debugger. Just an example of the dominance of harmful traditions, if at all

But wouldn’t acid just sound better on SID, and pop, and jazz and blues, and

I don’t know what about right now, I don’t have time to listen to everything yet, but I remember them

this author crap-style). Especially these two moments - even AY to yourself
not similar. :p

mp3 is absolutely not worth the money, these are not chiptunes... And I’m not talking about the style as such, but
about sound - specifically about a seamless, smooth performance, in other words, “howl” ;)
(the most typical thing I remember is gluk1n'(0mp0s1ng from the Voyager2 disc store). Here
Apparently it’s “in the ears” - you don’t feel the difference as much when you listen to acid,
all sorts of chimes, trills and pop music “two stomps, three slams.” I wonder
why is the most convertible Mouzon from the chest of drawers (afaik) the Commando? ;)
And it’s clear that POKEY will always “creak” better (because the controlled
distorted), SiD will always "howl" better (because there are a lot of things), and AYit will always be better... uh... uh... :v2_conf3; ..A; what exactly? :v2_rolley

Hello new art
In fact, I consider the dispute insignificant - each chip has its own sound, and
music can be perceived in any form. We recently played from the Spectrum
Moran's tracks at the large electronic music festival Sick Fest 3 in Moscow - so
so, people danced to them, but most didn’t care about the rest! Then
they also came up and asked if we had albums ;)

Toto and it. =)
It's not just about AY (hardware), but also about software. There would be a controller on spec
interruptions, the sound would be completely different. If you get used to it, you can still use AY
a lot to squeeze out. But there’s probably no point, people like you are nothing anyway

Hello Lethargeek
Why emulate a seed on a spec? Sid is part of another culture, and the character of the sound is
him is different. It may be possible to rip off the general harmony from the old music, but
character cannot be conveyed.
Regarding the "acid" style. There is no such style. There is goa trance and there is acid
jazz.
Only Goa was made on the Spectrum, a resonant filter was emulated on the envelope.
Acid jazz is live music. Sometimes sampled, but all instruments (or
most) are alive.
By the way, there was some friction with Slava - he wants the original midi clave spec
pick it up, and I suggested a sound module - the 48th spec is quite capable of sending commands
by midi to some thread kurtzweil me-1. 256 orchestral instruments are
more than aigrik and seed :)

Yes, I'm all about the fact that it is more difficult for the human ear to notice the difference between quality
two different "tr-r-r-r" than two different "woo-oo-oo". :) Because on AY in contrast
there is so much “acid” from sidor (here, I put quotation marks specifically for the literalists).
IMHO.
res> Trying to drive seeds to spec means growing in breadth. Growing in depth, after all
res> this is the second game and editor for 6 channels.
According to the definition of intensive/extensive, everything is exactly the opposite. ;) Simple
adding channels is just “growth in breadth”. But the search for a new sound on
what exists (and on anything) is “growing in depth.” I think he's an experienced muzaker
(especially a professional) in principle must use all known to him
technical perversions automatically, without thinking. For fans of course
more difficult.

That's not what this is about. A pattern of one note and a croaking filter has a right to
life, a very pleasant welcome. The point is that in the “new AY music” there is no
melodies. Listen to some Astral Projection, Astrix, something else from
goa-trance... Everything there is much more melodic and varied, regardless of the
"tools".

About conversions: not a single stupid conversion will sound on the spec. You can
rip off the harmony and rhythm, and then write it all again under the aigrik, torturing

Hello new art
KSA has thoughtful rhythm and harmony. And “filtering” doesn’t really fit in there.
The style is different. And comparing its sound with mmcm is like comparing smokey and
Prodigy. In one case the emphasis is on harmony and rhythm, in the other on timbre and rhythm.
